i disagree, government & oligarchs control the price of electricity, & ERC do not publicize cost breakdown and omparative analysis with other asian countries.

The electricity spot prices are very high in the Phils because it follows the law of supply-vs-demand. We know dam well that the supply side is very acute (anemic even) and the demand side is huge - and that explains the daily blackouts (or brownouts in local lingo). It doesn't matter who handles the electric supply side - private cooperative or government authority - for as long as the supply of electricity lags the demand, spot prices for electricity will always be high. The question then is who is better to increase the supply side of the equation to balance or even, surpluses the demand side, to lower the prices even more? Well, from what I know the private cooperatives have been on the losing end of this battle (corruption? inflating prices? just don't give a hoot?) I have my own theory. Then a government regulated authority MUST be the answer. The government should nationalize the national grid and set a cap price. But the government should also allow for private bidding of projects (e.g. San Miguel and others) to increase the supply side. A loose government regulation should be the answer.

While The Philippines' government is not subsidizing electricity it is making electricity more expensive for the general public, by making it more affordable for poor people. There are mandates to connect people in remote areas without having them pay for the real connection cost and the pricing model (only a variable rate and no fixed monthly connection fee) helps to make having a little bit of electricity affordable for the poor, but results in a much higher variable rate. I am not saying it is a bad policy, but people should be aware that such market interventions do have negative consequences as well.

Wrong. Electricity is privatized thru orders of the world bank, imf along with water and infrastructure. Privatized so that foreign stockholders, bond holders own the publicly listed corporations. These corporations are listed under a face of a local oligarch while the policies and pricing are dictated by investors. It's a common way for the hegemony US to get control of a country without invading. They have been doing it to many Latin America and Baltic states who are in debt to the world bank. Read prof Michael Hudson's books and podcasts.
