Crocodiles in torrential rain, in La Ventanilla Oaxaca Mexico

What would Kristina & David’s Adventures be without a last minute offer we couldn’t refuse, even if it was scary!?! To top it off, we dragged our friends Dotty & Greg into this adventure, by promising a good time!
The tour guide Lalo arrived early, with his clean, well stocked van, and loaded us all up. He shared some great insight as we passed certain communities and drove us to our first destination, a small fishing village called La Ventanilla here in Oaxaca state. La Ventanilla’s enhabitants offer ecotours to tourists who wish to learn more about crocodiles, turtles, fish, birds and the way they all work hand in hand with nature and humans to coexist peacefully.
Lalo explained the next steps into this fun adventure that we were about to embark on. And sure… it sounded fun, but then reality set in, once we arrived at our boat and we had to get into it, knowing what is in the waters…. Of course, as soon as we set out on this adventure, the rain started to fall - just our rainy season luck…
Our first sighting of the ancient species we were visiting, was right by the beach - a young crocodile just relaxing in the water…. Yikes!
As we paddled along, Lalo explained more about the habitat and it’s creatures, and as we pulled up to the island that was to be our next stop, what would swim up right beside our boat? A rather large female croc. And now we have to get out of the boat?
We safely made it onto shore, checked out the museum and then went to see the main attraction - more crocodiles. Wow, impressive animals! A slightly scary experience, but educational and fun!
Our group proceeded to a few tamers animals - the mighty little deers of southern Mexico. We fed them some veggies, visited a little monkey, who by this time, had also had enough of the rain that had been falling.
We then took a break, enjoyed a wonderful meal, some mezcal, Corona and coconut water, along side a wonderful store with handcrafted goodies. The rain did not let up, and as we packed up to head back to the boat, the rain intensified. As we made our way to the van, we were all drenched and decided against our next leg of this tour - which was going to be a turtle release.
Mother Nature was not on her best behaviour, but she was not able to dampen our moods. Our friends and us had a blast on this ecotour with Lalo and Treasures of Huatulco! Thanks to our friend Mike who made it all happen! We greatly appreciated the entire day and immense fun we all had!

When I lived in South Florida we would go to the everglades, about 20 minutes from our place, wild crocodiles and alligators! I was dumb and purposely went down to the water to look at them. Huge alligator was maybe 12 inches away from me! I wanted a good pic! 😂😂I got my pic and luckily walked away with my arms too.

@@KristinaandDavid We had a great time exploring Zipolite through Puerto Angel a few years back. Haven't made it upto the mountains yet but looking at San Jose Del Pacifico in the near'ish future. So much to get out and explore in the area.Also good to see another couple in the area around our age group. If you find some good bacon or where Itoo gets their argentina sausage clue us in...
San Jose is amazing! There will be a video coming about that in the near future... 😉 Re bacon: Papaloapan is a possibility, but my favourite is on the corner of Carrizal & Guarumbo. They'll slice it just the way you want it. Re sausage... sorry, I can't help there. If you want Bratwurst, that I can point you to... 😉

How long from room to sea? Im handicapped and wanna swim a lot without walking the most possible.
The hike down to the small beach called Playa Cameron at Casablanca is not easily accessible at this time. Depending on the handicap or disability, we have seen people brought to the big beach at Zipolite, in water wheelchairs, but it is not a calm water to really swim in. There are more sheltered beaches in many bays on the Oaxaca coast that are much better for swimming. For example, a very calm beach is Santa Cruz in Huatulco. Thanks for watching. 😊

For swimming, sunbathing, relaxing, walking, playing with our kids, we don't need swimsuits !
