FISHMANS: A Man’s Farewell (Short Doc)
มุมมอง 16Kปีที่แล้ว
This is a college project. I had to make a short documentary and decided I really wanted to do one on my favourite band. A very short documentary, giving a quick rundown of Fishmans career. The main focus is on the final performance, A Man's Farewell. I'm aware of some mistakes in information, such as stating there was a 2018 cover of Nightcruising (it was a compilation album). Besides these mi...

I come back to this video pretty frequently, it's a little corner of the internet that I absolutely love, even though this was just a college project for you, it means so much more to me, and probably a decent amount of other people, thanks for making this.
@@EddieSlams Thankyou so much! So lovely to hear your kind words :)))

I’m a lonely lonely
Coming I’m august. Looking forward to it.
I'm Japanese fan of them. imao the reason why Fishmans acquired their popularity all over the world is that they could be "in the pocket", which is VERY rare case in Japanese music industry. Most bands in Japan cannot get even the gist of the concept of “in the pocket", including city pop. I mean, they can't help but playing downbeats in 1&3 even the song adopts funk or R&B style. But Fishmans could handle the groove. Their backbeat style music clearly has downbeat in 2&4(e.g. Kansha(odoroki), Weather Report, 100ミリちょっとの). But when it comes to playing reggae, they chaeges the pocket to 1&3. This is very common concept in the world, but 99% japanese people don't realize the concept of the groove whatsoever. What a great band Fishmans is...
I am foing here on Sempte.per 1st ❤
IS THIS SAMUELION FROM SKYPE???? 2016?????
bom bom bom bom bwaaaa
I attended the same college as the Fishmans' members. I was watching their live performance in real time. I still listen to Fshmans music. ...And I cry. Its good, isn't it? GJ, you guys. and thanks.
I’m a Japanese fan, and was 14 yrs old in ‘98. I didn’t know Fishmans until they released re-issue in 2005. They didn’t appear on hit chart in Japan. I can imagine they went through hard time, and I feel wonder they get popular among music lovers around the world nowaday…
Thank you for this video. I do small photo shoots on holidays and this album is always my go-to when editing. This soundscape puts me in a unique frame of mind... it kind of hurts... and it's beautiful
it feels good to find high quality videos with not a lot of views. it gives me hope that there is actual good content on this hell scape we know as youtube

Autotune? Why!?...
because he made that style popular it’s his brand
shinji sato didn’t die from heart failure, he committed suicide 😢 which is even more tragic.
uhh no?
That’s nothing more than a rumour. Stop spreading misinformation about dead people please, it’s very disrespectful and offensive.

This is epic
Just randomly stumbled across this. What a great and informative video. Could'nt find any faults, just one thing to point out is that you Said Uchu NIppon Setagaya was more acclaimed than Long Season. But it seems Long Season is the more acclaimed record at least according to RYM as you mentioned. Overall though class video mate. Could'nt agree with you more about 98.12.28, it truly is a masterpiece. Thanks for spreading the word on the greatness of Fishmans to the world :)
Sato was born in 66', Passed away at age 33 in 99' something mystical drove this mans life and work, cheers to your project hope it gave you a good grade!
Interesting numbers.
Wow. Tragedy and beauty come in threes.
Ha, at 33, just like Christ
This is amazing! Thank you for sharing this documentary with the rest of youtube. I started listening to fishmans about a year ago, and never knew he passed on until a few weeks ago. Really changes the way you listen to his last live album and some of his other tunes.
Amazing!
great video!!
long season is one of those things I wish I could listen to for the first time again, amazing video <3
That was where I started in discovering them yesterday, and it is a feeling I want to last.
My god... 3 days for me
