Timisoara Vlog (Romania) - Food, Festival in the Woods, IKEA & More
มุมมอง 466ปีที่แล้ว
I spent a week in Timisoara, in the most western part of Romania and these are my experiences with the cultural capital of Romania, so far. I walked for most of the day until it got too warm outside (temperatures of up to 40 degrees Celsius), while taking photos and enjoying the vibrant architecture & food. Had so much fun, especially at the end of the week, when we got to CODRU Fest, a music f...
The perfect Bruschetta on a Rainy Day
มุมมอง 201ปีที่แล้ว
What to do on a rainy day, but a wonderful Italian Bruschetta. With fresh Dutch Oven baked bread (By all means not perfect, but incredibly delicious), garden ingredients as tomato season is passing & fresh herbs. Decadent tastes for a moody day. This recipe is made with home ingredients, no measurments & just peaceful slow cooking. I hope you relax and enojy! :)

    Dita's fans are always the same - outraged at anyone daring to even slightly criticize their queen. Firstly, people have various tastes, some people like "boring", minimalist, mid-century interiors. This preference does not make their opinion laughable or invalid. And secondly, perhaps the owner of this channel might not be able to afford her own house and lives in rented space which she cannot decorate how she wants...?

      Absolutely, makes the experience of Spain so much better! Benidorm and Calpe are still very touristy but definitely not as much as compared to the main big cities. Definitely worth the detour 😊 as for where to stay, we just rented an Airbnb, there's a ton of options

  • @getrealgonewithelenaandfrankie
    @getrealgonewithelenaandfrankie ปีที่แล้ว

    Wow, at first I thought this was a parody 😂 You're literally sitting in the most boring looking (dorm?) room with what appears to be a towel thrown on the back of a couch and you're an authority on critiquing Dita's home interior?😂😂😂 Her interior is far from "BAD". It has personal CHARACTER, STYLE, and PERSONALITY. Not to mention beauty and color. You're opinion is what's part of the problem mainstream society's obsession with boring neutral color palettes, boring design, and fear of color. Sounds like good old-fashioned insecure jealousy to me. One's home interior should reflect what you love and what makes you happy and this has what she's accomplished. I'll take Dita's unique and original decor, confidence, and eye for timeless beauty and glamour ANY DAY over beige, bare walls, and boring.

    • @beyondpaths
      @beyondpaths ปีที่แล้ว

      It seems like the judging is coming from either side so it's very hypocritical of you to say that knowing nothing about me or my house. It's fine to have your own opinion about what i say in the video (although i doubt you even watched it), but i also have a right to have my own about interior design, without living in a mansion and displaying untasteful amounts of wealth.

    • @getrealgonewithelenaandfrankie
      @getrealgonewithelenaandfrankie ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh btw, yes of course I did watch your video and it's just ironic coming from someone who, judging by the background of your critique platform, thinks they are an authority on "good interior design taste". I'm just tired of people picking on other people that like to march to the beat of their own drum and think for themselves (instead of what some "how-to decor magazine or text book" tells them), because they are unique, original, different from average, and not predictable or boring. Sorry to be blunt in my critique here, but your video background is unkempt, lacking in originality, and average, while hers is not, and so it bothers you. So because she doesn't "blend in" or share the same mindset as the masses to look like everyone else, or have the same beige farmhouse interior or whatever the trend is, you think it's in "bad taste"or "tacky". That's what's funny. There's beauty in simplicity and I've seen lots of it, but it's lame when you have to try to make a point by putting someone who has colorful maximalism taste down. You have a right to your opinion and I have a right to mine. Maybe next time choose to give your critique from a simple yet impressive background so you can be taken a little bit more seriously.

      "You're literally sitting in the most boring looking (dorm?) room with what appears to be a towel thrown on the back of a couch" So what? Why can't people have houses they like and talk about houses they don't like? And she actually said this is a very interesting style and she understands the theatrical and artistic background Dita comes from. "and you're an authority on critiquing Dita's home interior? Where did she say she is an authority? "One's home interior should reflect what you love and what makes you happy" And the creator acknowledged that. You really can't imagine that some people love neutral colours, boring design, no clutter? Stick to what you wrote, let people enjoy what they want.

    Not gonna defend Dita because she doesn't need any of that. She is a legend period. But as a design student we are constantly reminded that design in NOT art thus meaning any kind of subjectivity is not the main rule to analyze but functionality. "Form follows function", remember? If she or any person is happy and pleased with the design / arrangement / pattern of a particular piece that was specially custom made for them. I don't see the problem, in fact it means the designer is doing their job. Certain needs and rules of design are not made to use as a mathematical formula. Those rules are made to complement and better the design. As you can see, there are spaces in her house that are maximalist, full of saturated colors, textures and many kinds of materials. Have in mind that she host many parties / reunions / events in her house thus meaning the primary function of her house beside comfort is being an attraction for said events. In contrast, you can see that there is a special place in her house that could be layered as "victorian minimalist" in Dita's standards which is her bedroom. A place she uses for relaxation being an excellent choice for that space to be the most tone down of all. Making her house an excellent and appropiate space for her which translates to "it is WELL DESIGN". Try to be more open minded and maybe see another cultures which happened to be known for their maximalist and dramatic aesthetic preferences. As a peruvian I can assure you that the barroque of the Cusco churches of my country can compete with the breathtaking Islamic architectural temples and synagogues. The vast mayority of eastern asian sacred temples are as beautiful as the Tintoretto ceilings in Venice. And just as a reminder, the babarian churches and castles's interiors are as majestic as the Thailands palaces's exteriors. But I'm not talking from an aesthetic point of view because if you do your research you'll find out that all those cultures (and all of the others cultures around the world) have a reason to it. Applying the basic modern concept of design. Just as a final thought and recommendation, maybe tidy up the space your gonna put on the internet. I'm sure as a design your house is marvellous, but the one that you show here is extremtly messy. Of course if that has a functional reason, then I take it back 😉

    • @beyondpaths
      @beyondpaths ปีที่แล้ว

      I really appreciate your point of view and i think you're right! I'm sure Dita's house is used for many such parties, as i said in the beggining of the video, i don't know much about her and what she does. Usually when i come across an AD video there's always something striking right away in terms of what i appreciate as good design. Maximalism is definitely a style i don't vibe with at the moment but i understand the idea behind it. As for the cultural monuments you listed, such as palaces, churches and many more noble houses, they're meant as a display of wealth and the forms they create with the spaces are a way to keep you "small" so to speak, churches especially as the whole culture behind it is to make you see how insignificant you are in front of "God". In any case, you are right and i should be more open minded and all i hoped with this video was to spark a conversation, which it seems i did :D Everyone has controversial takes, maybe i wasn't as eloquent as i could, but again i'm new to youtube and as for my background, i only really noticed the towel after everything was filmed...😅 But we're all humans who like towels so that's that.

      And what is wrong with mid-century design? Ironically, this sofa is velour, just like Dita's. Besides, not everyone can afford custom-made furniture or glamour style. Lots of people just choose what they like the most from commercial stores and something they have enough money for, functionality is their priority. Let people enjoy what they want.
