A Prescotian's Guide To Prescot

A Prescotian's Guide ot Prescot is over an hour long, and covers the history of Prescot from the 1600's to 2010. There are lots of cine film from the 1930's and 1950's, and footage of the long demolished factories of the B.I.C.C. They go into Blundell's Files factory, and Stephenson's Printers. There is a lot of footage of St.Mary's Church, including the new bells, and much, much more. And all ...

Respect
Used to love Alan Jackson on his football football show, very poor station now with the loss of the old guard.
Of course in the USA it was Mac and Katie. Not a whiff of Middle of the road.
I came here via the video of 'The way you look tonight' by Denny Seyton and The Sabres.. have only just learned that Lally was in the group. For years, I've known and loved the video of him doing his version of 'Chirpy Chirpy Cheep Cheep', strolling down a street in..where is it? Germany? Holland? Does anyone know? He went far too young and by coincidence, in June 1977, when I was just moving to Liverpool..
Was great that
Nice tribute, a pity the Axe's Single pictured at the beginning is clearly a well different song and nothing to do with Lally 🤔
I've just come over here from a Disco maxi-single treatment of 'Chirpy Chirpy Cheep Cheep' re-titled to 'Chirpy Chirpy Cheep' by a Katy Stott (1978). Would this Katy Stott be the same person as Cathy Stott, therefore?
Loved Jacko. Always great conversation. Compulsive listening. Radio Merseyside is now dead.
I agree, don't think I've listened to more than a couple of hours of it in the past year, whereas back then it was almost permanent background noise
Csn someone explain why the first song isn't a claxssic?!
Thanks for uploading this lovely tribute. He was such a lovely chap and very clever. One of the nicest people I have ever known, and had the pleasure of working with..... this in Italy. He wrote a pretty song about my dog I found, whilst we were in the recording studios, called Doggie. I told him how I found him and he turned up the very next day with the song, so we recorded it immediately. Some time later it was released by Candlewick Green. He also wrote an excellent song about the guitarist working with us called Mr.Laurie .... I still remember the chords but never seen any trace of it whatsoever unfortunately. Fondest memories of dear Lally. Rip👍🇬🇧
Well said GB. I was 9 years old when I heard his band practice outside in his garden, four doors away from my house in Shaw Lane Prescot which I swear inspired me to take up music in which 60 years later I am still active and grateful for. He managed to touch many people from humble origins both here in Liverpool and abroad, Italy being most prominent. Grazi and ciao GB. RIP Lally.
@@stephenrenshall8408 ..... oh thats such a lovely story... thankyou. Rip dearest Lally... never forgotten.👍🇬🇧
@Ok Go were you in The Black Jacks maybe?
@@rd03gian ... no sorry I wasn't ✌️🇬🇧
@@okgo8315 I'm looking for some information on Lally's backing band, The Black Jacks, who actually recorded that "Doggie" song, and especially about guitarist Gary (or Garry?) Roberts ;)
Lally was one of those characters you meet once in a life time. I will never forget the time he took to pound into me the drum intro for Chirpy Chirpy Cheep Cheep. He certainly had a great talent for writing really happy songs and we in Middle of the Road are eternally grateful for the opportunity we were given to record "Chirpy". Ken Andrew.
He was my older beloved cousin taken from me far too soon… still listen to his songs and visit his grave for a wee chat xxx
Suzy Suzano he was really great
Thanks to a recent music trivia guiz and yt I've discovered Lally and his great music. His music lives on after sll these years.
Great that Lally has been recognised here. I remember when I was in my last year at Delph Lane School in Whiston. I was in the school play, and during the interval Lally, who was then in his band Hank Remo and the Batchelor Boys performed. He had the first Fender Strat which I had seen in the "flesh" so to speak. The band were really good. He had the Strat imported from the States due to import restrictions etc., they were not readily available, it was the case that you couldn't just walk into a music shop and pick a Fender off the wall as now! His mum was a dinner lady at our school, and I remember before the Strat arrived she was so proud telling us kids in the dinner queue that Lally was waiting for his new guitar to arrive. I think it was in 1962/3 Lally was voted the best guitarist in Liverpool, I'm not sure if it was in the Mersybeat, but he certainly deserved it ~ he was really good! I then met him when he was in the Vaqueros at Granada TV studios in Manchester. They were doing an audition for Scene at Six Thirty, a local news and interest programme. I don't know if they went on the TV or not, but they were really good. Great days, and a sad loss!!
That are Cathy & Lally (Harold) Stott aka The Lovebirds. Stott also played in Denny Seyton & The Sabres / / The Denny Seyton's Show-Group / The Motowns [UK] and Lally Stott & The Black Jacks
Don't let the cheesy smile, style and personna kid you. Used to listen to this patronising individual during his BBC Radio Merseyside sports anchorman slots. Not only was he condescending he would belittle and sneer at anyone who was getting the better of him during after match phone ins, usually cutting them off when things were getting tasty and too near the truth for him to take. Packed in at Radio Merseyside at the end of 2012 to help run his daughter Amy Jackson's flourishing "Bollywood " film career. Not missed by me.
Sadly his family wouldnt allow Cathy to his funeral. He also wrote 'Sky High' for Jigsaw which was a classic of its day, as previously said you cant but help wonder what he would have achieved if he would have lived out his life
No, he did not write 'Sky High' for Jigsaw. Where did you get that from?
What's with the gay bondage outfit?
It takes one to know one Mr BoniFart. I would expect even a fool to see it is a pop video extracted from a TV programme, no such luck with you. The same guy wrote a hit record selling millions of copies world wide and still one of the first records requested for at weddings, parties etc. So sad to see free speech abused by gobshites like you - have a nice day loser.
@@stephenrenshall8408... Very well put👍👍👍 Thankyou👍🇬🇧
was told by my mum that he was related to my nan who passed away last year
The bird is his American wife Cathy who he me when he was writing songs for her She was half of Kathy & Gulliver and Lally actually wrote Semolina for her!
Great stuff!!! He was one of those great talents that was taken too early. Does anybody know who the bird is? Thanks for posting the video!
RicRod1000 he was my cousin … the bird was his second wife
