had no idea you could do this with native CSS, very cool. I can see how this could be useful by limiting the filesize so that pages load faster although the easier way would be to convert a low resolution PNG drawing to SVG :) if done properly you should get an .svg file that's 1-10kilobytes. If you know SVG formatting you could probably get below 1kb by "coding" the lines yourself just like you did here in CSS.
