    What is the brand of that squaring chisel? I cant find it anywhere. Nice video I enjoyed

      Unfortunately, I see that it is no longer on the market. I purchased it from Lee Valley several years ago. Subsequently, I saw that it was designed by Ian Hawthorne in the UK, and they apparently he and Lee Valley had a falling out over attribution, royalties or whatever, and Lee Valley stopped selling it. Ian was always saying he was going to produce and sell it instead, but haven't seen it since.

      @@bobdickey Thanks for the reply, I actually build board games for a living. I have a squaring chisel. But the design of yours seems more stable and low profile. I will do some research.

    David below makes a good point. You should list the tools you use with a link. I think there is an arrangement that will allow you to get a portion of the purchase. The micro fence looks like a Veritas product.

    It is very disappointing the COVID times we are in. I am so impressed with Bob's approach and style I would definitely request and pay for a one-on-one class with him. His TH-cams are so helpful, but I have so many nuanced questions that only shop time and getting to know the artist could solve.

      Jim, thanks for the kind comments. FYI - I am open to phone chats if you have questions or just want to talk about box making. If you are interested, send me an email at bob@woodnonline.com with phone number and we can see about connecting.

    You eyeball the router when cutting the groove? How do you not accidentally go too far?

    • @artnabox5615
      @artnabox5615 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I look for the line drawn on the panel and make sure I stop before hitting it. The open router base and light definitely help, but before I had that, I used a desk lamp to illuminate the area so I could see the line.

    Bob, Your approach to routing the internal profiles runners is nothing but BRILLIANT!!!! Definitely, a time saver, stronger construction, and aesthetically pleasing, Very impressive!! Would you mind adding the list of router bits you use to create your boxes? I would definitely want to try this approach. Note: Looking at your shop I have all the same equipment! Love Incra jigs!!!

    • @artnabox5615

      Hi Jim. Thanks for your comments. You know, I have pitched projects (including the internal profiling) to Woodcraft Magazine and Fine Woodworking. Woodcraft picked two and featured me in two issues in 2011/2012. But neither mag was interested in the profiling. That surprised me, only because I have never seen it anywhere else. As for the router bits, I use mortising bits for the profiling. They give a nice flat surface. Mine are CMT (801 series) but other brands have them as well. I have a 1 1/4" and 1 1/2" That I use. For the lid panel profiling, I have used CMT and Whiteside junior panel raisers, but am currently using a Whiteside 15 degree shaker door panel bit. I like its simplicity.
