@CSXT_8995 River line is way more busier but I see a lot of CSX where I work in New Haven ...I like seeing NS ,The Hoosac Tunnel, and following them out to Hoosic Falls.. It's been a while since I been over to Mowhawk and Rotterdam Jct..

@@natgass8102 Honestly, it depends, some days are really slow having maybe 12-15 trains and other days can have up to 25, I was out watching trains on August 7th and I got 14 trains in an 8 hour period

so is it basically traffic from the east coast going into the interior via Selkirk NY?

@@natgass8102 well, for the intermodal traffic (stacks), they tend to go through Selkirk because no stacks trains originate in Selkirk, the manifests and racks trains do and also from North Bergen NJ too

@@crosstiewalker803 to be honest, I did stand far enough away from the tracks as this train passed, and I looked around and didn’t see any idiots standing on the tracks, but yeah maybe it wasn’t a horn salute that I got that day

@CSXT_8995 I'm just giving you a hard time. I've been retired for eleven years now, and I didn't work for that RR, but where I worked, it was a common practice for a weed weasel to wander around the right-of-way, to see if the proper whistle/horn warning/signal was sounded. Be safe, and enjoy your hobby.

@@CSXT_8995 It would be cool if you can go back on a cold winter night with no wind I grew up living next to a MoPac main line. At night you could hear those cold horns echo for miles. Every dog and coyote for twenty miles would be howling.
