For Poorer or for Worse | Ephesians 5:1-2
มุมมอง 120ปีที่แล้ว
We so often enter marriage starry-eyed and at least a bit naive, imagining a "happily ever after" that Hollywood would envy. But what happens when the other spouse is either unable to give or unwilling to give? What happens when a spouse is not what they ought to be, due to sin, weakness, or some character issue? What happens when there is an accident or a serious injury, or when illness comes?...

Spirit-filled Relationships | Ephesians 5

If Jesus is alive in us, He will only do what Jesus does. And what Jesus does is exactly what the apostle Paul is calling us to do in all of our relationships in the body of Christ: to give ourselves for one another in love. Our new life in Christ should not only affect the way that we live with one another, but our lives in the world ought to be like lights shining in the darkness, a visible testimony to everyone of the goodness and truth of Jesus Christ. Our witness to the world is to invite them to CHRIST: to the love, the forgiveness, the life, and the hope that we have in Him. We do that with our words, but mo...

Can We Cause Things to Happen? - A Biblical Look on Decreeing and Declaring | THINK

Many people these days fill their prayers with the phrases, "I declare this" or "I decree that," based on the assumption that we have the authority to speak into existence anything that we want. Sounds great. But what does the Bible have to say about it? Do we have the power to decree and declare?

Its ok, but the other truth is for this view is that God will only do for us what is in His will. If I ask in Jesus name or command in Jesus name for example that: King David! Be raised in Jesus name! Of course we know that this will be not happen. Why? Because the matter is how and when God wants it to happen. So the whatever we ask is tied to the will of God.

Amen! Thank you.

1 Corinthians 13, covers faith, hope, and love. Though you speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have no love, you are a sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal. And though you have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though you have all faith, so that you could remove mountains, and have no love, you are nothing. And though you bestow all your goods to feed the poor, and though you give your body to be burned, and have no love, it profited you nothing. And now abideth faith, hope, and love, these three; but the greatest of these is love. These message is for preachers, church members, and anyone, if the love of God is not in you, you are not born of God. 1 John 4:7-8, John 5:42
Amen, thank you for this wisdom Pastor🙏🏾
Well done Pr Dave. Thanks for helping us see Jesus.
For centuries people did not experience being "born again", In the last century it was D L Moody (formerly a shoe salesman turned Pastor) who fought his obstinate congregation declaring we are changed when we accept Jesus as Lord and Savior . They wanted him removed as Pastor. We can look back and see that many in his congregation put experience above the Word.
If we let outcome decide truth instead of Jesus' life and word then we are going to raise our experience above His name and he magnified His Word above His name. How many of us have raised our experience above His word and re wrote His Word based on our outcome. So in our attempts to soothe our hurting hearts we've written something an analogy at the cost of truth which makes us free and now we've got a problem (Dan Mohler)

Great speech! Amen.
Thanks! I guess the obvious question is how we get God to heal? I have a physical disease that I'm desperate to get healed...
That is a great question. The reality is, there isn’t anything we can do to force God to do what we want. Though many people distort the Scriptures to say otherwise, there is no guarantee that He will always give us what we ask for. He CAN heal and He often DOES heal, but not always. The heart of prayer is not that we know how to always move Him, but that we trust His heart and His wisdom to always do what is ultimately best. I am so sorry for your disease. In my family, we have a number of difficult chronic health problems. We continue to ask for healing, but more than anything we seek to rest in His love and wisdom. He has been and continues to be so gracious to us, even in the midst of our pain. I will definitely pray for you.
❤🙏

Thanks, Mario. I pray that the Lord will continue to work in your heart. Just curious, what country do you live in?
I am in Spain
Sin brings death, and sin is death. So if we’re healed of sin, we’re heard of death too. If Jesus died just by being crucified on the cross, that would be a thing. But He went through beating and scourging so that our physical wounds would be removed too. Whenever Jesus healed someone He would say “your sins are forgiven”, it’s a clear statement that healing is directly linked to forgiveness of sins and disease is linked to sin. There was no forgiveness of sins in the OT, there were atonements, but there was not the blood able to wash away conscious and heart. Now we have that in Jesus! Jesus said “preach the gospel, cast out demons, heal the sick, raise the dead” not “heal some who are sick”. Sickness is not of God. Why should Christians accept it? Why should they live with smth of the enemy? Where is the abundant life? Where is the dominion over the darkness? Bless you
Thanks for your comment, Victor. I want to respond to a couple of things. First, Jesus did not always say “Your sins are forgiven” when He healed someone. He did that with one man, the paralytic who was let down through the roof by his friends. We can’t build a theology of sin and disease based in that one encounter. Also, when He healed the man born blind, He made it clear that his physical condition had no connection to his sin at all. You said that Jesus tells us to “heal the sick and raise the dead” and that He didn’t say only heal some who are sick. By that logic, it means every dead person should be raised, too, not just some. Second, I totally agree with you that the ultimate result of the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus will be a complete healing of all the effects of the fall. But we are not promised that we are free from it all immediately. You said that we are healed of death. Absolutely true. Yet, in this world, we all still physically die. In the same way, in this world, we still experience physical illness. And Isaiah 53 does not promise us otherwise. If it did promise us that, there is no explanation for the many examples in Scripture and in church history of people of great faith being physically ill without receiving immediate healing. For example, why did Paul leave Trophimus sick at Miletus or why Epaphroditus was sick for a long time and nearly died. Or why Paul had a sickness for a time when he was among the Galatians. If it was an immediate promise of the effects of the cross, then Paul would have claimed Isaiah 53 and they would have been healed immediately. In fact, if it was a promise of the cross, they would have never been sick at all. There will be a day when we walk in the full effect of what Christ has done, a world in which there is no pain, no sorrow, no death. And I look forward to that with great hope and eagerness, as Paul calls us to in Romans 8:18-25. God bless you as you continue to walk with Him, seek Him, love Him and serve Him.
Thank you Lord Àmen
Thanks so much pastor Dave
Thanks pastor Dave for God's work
48yrs of age, almost 24 years in marriage, Love has never been this clear to me! Thx pastor Dave. May God's love continue to be our motivation, our model, and means of love
Well please explain Matthew 8: 14-17.
Great question. In a longer teaching, I would have included this passage, since it mentions Jesus fulfilling prophecy from a portion of Isaiah 53, and in connection with some people who were healed of illnesses. Obviously, God does heal sicknesses. No doubt about that. But that is far from saying that we have a guarantee through the cross that He will heal every disease. We have to not make the text say more than it does. Over and over throughout his Gospel, Matthew points to how different prophecies are fulfilled in Jesus, proving that He is the promised Messiah. That is what he is doing here again. Matthew 8 is the tenth time in his Gospel up to this point that he has done this. And he is simply saying here that by setting free those who were demon-possessed and healing those who were sick, Jesus proves that He is the promised Messiah, as Isaiah 53:4 said He would be a Messiah who heals our diseases. But it is not a promise of healing for every disease through the cross. He would have certainly quoted Isaiah 53:5 if he was doing that. And Isaiah 53:5 in its context and in its quotation and explanation by Peter, is clearly referring to the healing of our relationship with God, not the guarantee of physical healing.
@@truthforafrica I agree with everything you have said pastor only my point is it is perfectly alright to quote that passage for physical healing just as the author of Matthew qouted it.
If you are quoting it as evidence that God does heal, absolutely. But if it is as a guarantee that God will always heal, that is not how Matthew was quoting it.
@@SolaScriptura77 You can quote it all you like but quote it as its true meaning, or it would be false. It like people who go around "pleading the blood of Jesus" on everything under the sun. Its not a magic incantation where we can speak things into existence, or "delaring and decreeing". Jesus said to ask in prayer, even Jesus asked, otherwise its empty words
Paul's Thorn In the Flesh was not sickness. The devil came to Buffett him. It had to do with his soul. His mind. The same way we have to take our thoughts captive and renew our minds with the word of Truth. The way Jesus was tempted by the devil and came against him with the word of God. Our battle is not against flesh and blood remember it's about the spiritual world.
Thanks for the comment. The truth is, we don’t actually know what Paul’s thorn was. We only know that it was difficult and he pleaded with God to take it away. Ultimately, I totally agree that the battle was in his his heart, mind, and soul, whether it began with a physical infirmity or not. The point of this example in this particular teaching is that it shows that we don’t have an automatic promise that whatever happens, we just ask and it is taken away immediately.
❤
Thank you for putting this in its right context
Pastor Carrol I love your Spirit filled scriptural teachings in an era where the true word is no longer preached, glory to the Lord Jesus
Another great message PS Dave. I absolutely love how all your sermons always look at the context in which versus are written. This verse in particular certainly doesn't say that in Christ we can have all things but we can do all things. Thanks for always sharing your sermons👌
My existence in this world is to live for the glory and service of my creator Jesus Christ and with that comes contentment, glory to the Lord in the highest
