Critic AL and Lord Toxic discuss STRANGE DAYS (1995): Go Bigelow or Go home.
This is my favourite film EVER and so few people know about it, so when i found out that Lord Toxic not only knows the film but highly rates it, it was time to get together and discuss this massively underrated gem....

Anna Kendrick's directorial debut was released recently and is a thriller based upon the stranger than life instance of serial killer Ron Alcala being selected on a dating show in the 70's. As i watched the film i became very aware of a skewed feminist slant to the presentation and after it finished i did some research to see just how much was true to actual events. and i was shocked by what i ...

Very underrated movie.
The Witch was f*cking weird. Even for me. From the reviews I've watched, the plot sounds like Dracula('92). Which I know some hate but I like it. I'll check this one out..someday 😄
Award wise what do you think it’ll get
ACTUAL awards? Like i say, i'm genuinely not sure if it qualifies for Oscars but i'd love to see Hoult and Depp get GG nods for acting. Other than that makeup is great as is costuming and Eggers deserves something for his directing for sure. I'm sure it will be overlooked though in favour of whatever stunning and brave Oscar-bait comes our way though.
@ idk those feeding scene might make places like Collider and others say the “hidden obviously queer meaning behind the movie” that can get them the stunning and brave Oscar bait
Glad I missed the last version now. Because I get to watch the better version
@@NorthernEnglishBstard1988 yeah it chopped off the last five minutes or so. Rendering error or something I guess. My fault for not checking!
This was edited pretty well. Good work. 👍🏻 Definitely agree about the Borderlands casting and I'll check out Boy Kills World.
@@lynz223 cheers! Given it's unscripted and all knocked out in one morning it turned out ok. :)
This strong independent woman sh*t is getting really tiresome. But Hollywood is gonna Hollywood, I suppose. It's just so boring.
@@lynz223 with luck, the trend will die out soon and we can get back to having well written characters instead.
Awesome show. Farrell and Miloti deserve Emmy's.
Jones from 'Jonesisgaming' (a TH-camr who's also reviewed this "cinematic masterpiece") was right about several things, but arguably the most crucial one was this: Who would watch this and why?! Because if nobody knew that it was made by CD, then what would be the main attraction? Silly 'run-of-the-mill' action flicks like this are still being made to this very day..... in dozens!!! What CD has produced is just another forgettable 'direct-to-video' B-movie actioner (or rather D-movie), but the extra problem is that it does not star any Van Damme, Lundgren, Seagal, Adkins, Dacascos or Jai White. So it is actually even lesser! As Jones put it, what's the hook then?
Absolutely nailed this - I told you it was good! :D Most likely my TV series of the year, too. So good.
Season 2?
Man, the more reviews I see of this movie, the more I want to watch the first and only Gladiator movie.
'There is only one Gladiator movie' is a good philosophy to adopt :)
Solid review! Good to see another smaller creator inspired by the Drinker take on the task of reviewing his project!
Thanks! :D
Yeah, even in the TOS episode "Whom Gods Destroy", Kirk told Captain Garth that Kirk and Spock were basically "brothers."
Director for Rogue Elements here. Thanks for taking the time for the review. I will say it was a fun challenge trying to balance the characters and how they sound and feel to the books (chronologically this takes place between books two and three) while trying to be accessible to general fans. Glad you enjoyed it (mostly)!
Thanks for commenting Travis! There's a lot to like in this and i look forward to seeing what happens next. :)
Thank god, as I just finished book 2 and not yet got to 3, so nothing has been spoilt for me. But despite the films flaws, it's a decent first effort, and I do see some potential there. Hooefully, it becomes a proper series. I've sent my review to Drinker himself, and waiting to hear back from him. Try talking to drinkers friend Lance on the Outcasts Creative. I'm sure he'll give you an interview to promote it.
@@NorthernEnglishBstard1988 i dont think Drinker knows of my existence, i'm assuming i'm barred from the OB now though.... XD Lance is a good shout i was thinking that myself but assumed at this stage it's prob all in habd

Yea I wasn't super thrilled either
a lot of people in the preview were criticising the gun handling? I have no idea but you do as an ex military man? Was it ok or way off? I did see some corners not being checked.
I was surprised by the amount of cursing. Just felt out of place
Aye, could have used that valuable time to inform on the characters more. As i say, we got nothing.
7/10 plenty to say, not a fan of focused close ups and blurry backgrounds, like in games, so in movies, depth of field ON doesn't or rarely works, maybe in the flashbacks it does a lot crammed in at times while other times feels things are missing, i get it, proof of concept to build upon and expand in a TV series, i can see it working in a 10-20 episode/season series it did left me wanting for more, so hope it Will... get it? cause his name is... i'll see myself out great review as always o7
Despite it's roughness it was STILL better than a lot of 'professional' studio stuff i have seen. Hopefully there'll be another shot at it or someone will see the potential.

Hail Dondus!
Nice and interesting and not ott views on the movie. The effects are pretty much 99% perfect really..maybe we could of done without the awkward looking walking with no arm movement. And just a little more Trek theme would of been great..overall tho excellent and a great reminder of how good Trek used to be.
Shut up! Why can't I just watch the video? I don't care about your opinion.
Pretty much what I expected. As soon as the modern tunes cropped up in the trailer you knew it was going the wrong way to be decent.
at least the hip hop wasn't in the movie!
This looked and sounded like trash, a hard pass for me
I don't hate Millenials or Gen Z per se... but the pandering to them is the worse shit ever. Afraid was the most mind-numbingly boring higher-budget movie I had ever watched. Thankfully, I have never seen the trailers for Margaux so I was unaware of it until this video.

Nemesis was odd. Wasn’t that Tom Hardy in it too?
it WAS! Should have been so much better. I blame Patrick Stewarts influence. Wait till i get to Picard....

hail o7 glad to see you back AL, keep up the great work and don't let them bring you down 🫡
Thanks Nix! I've had some time off to think and more importantly, write. More stuff coming soon!
I think it's worth seeing at the cinema if you have a pass rather than paying just to see it.
Just see this as a learning curve and keep going. You do insightful and interesting reviews please don't give up.
You put more work into your review than the makers of the actual new movie
All for nothing sadly. I'll revisit it at some point. The fact that my vids are getting double digit views ATM isn't very motivating tbh.
If Rumble started getting their shit together more, I would've fucked off to them and stayed there already. The Copyright claims we get are a load of bullshit, they just make it up as they go along. Appeal it, they throw a strike on you, IF YOU LOSE, which is always the case. Don't give up. Keep on it, you're doing good work.

So, bro, you're looking forward to seeing this on streaming, aye? 😅
counting down the days. I suspect it won't be long.
I like the title lol
I really enjoyed the film, being a fan of the source material. I think the films strength is that it has a small budget and plays out like an indie horror film, it also reminded me of a hammer house horror film low budget but effective. I hope they make more of stories from the comics as I enjoyed it
Deffo would like to see more. So many great stories to tell!
Ngl, I don't hate the show at all, but I HATE The Acolyte stans that try way too hard pretend this show wasn't shit. And the real budget was 230. Bruh... I swear, its true.
I thought the film was brilliant. I loved all the music (it took me back to the time of beautiful melodies). The acting was perfect. I don't listen to these reviews. Either these people are complete idiots or it's a Hollywood pollitical thing that they are paying people to do... give bad reviews. The film was brilliant!
Great work as always.
Cheers man, shame only 12 people have seen it! The algorithm hate me RN
ART, I see what you did there! Gotta see this...
maybe not with moosh though lol
He actor says he wants to be the new Joker. Do you think he can have that range?
i need to see more of his acting, it depends what kind of Joker they do, dude can do unhinged mania and grins no problem
Didn't like it. Boring with the Tom character somehow was more loquacious than the star-Hellboy. In that whole movie the only monsters were a big spider and a snake! Cheapo.
Agreed, Hellboy needs to be a TV series. Just adapt the full series to a streaming show, cover to cover. That being said I rather liked this movie, if that was their attempt at a "back door pilot" they did a good job and I hope a full series with this version of Hellboy is made.
