    Hello ,can you solve my query. Whatever you say with the negative word you mind identifies it. When you say am not the body , you actually think of body. How would you explain this. Regards

      You're absolutely right! When we say something like "I am not the body," the mind tends to focus on the body, reinforcing that attachment. However, the key here is addressing a disturbed mind, which is often hard to calm down. For most people, taking a complete retreat from everything is not something they attempt in their lifetime. That's why this practice of affirming "I am not the body, I am not the mind" serves a limited but soothing purpose-especially in moments of suffering. Beyond the mere effect of words (whether positive or negative) that the mind identifies with, there’s a deeper truth. It’s nearly impossible to resolve the mind’s disturbances solely by using the mind itself. That’s where the need for something beyond the mind comes in-like connecting with our soul and ultimate truth. By sitting calmly, allowing thoughts to naturally fade away, we access a state beyond the mental chatter. The ultimate goal of this practice is to become liberated from the mind, to transcend its limitations entirely.

    sitting in cross-leg posture will for majority shift their attention to discomfort, pain in their knees, pain in their hips... and 50 or more % of seekers can't sit in cross-leg position at all. Padmasana or any variations of it is great, but not necessary. just sit anyway you can (nothing wrong with sitting on the chair) with your spine strait and you are good to go. remember: stabil and comfortable is the Asana. 2nd. it is not a meditation, it is a meditation technique, and a potent one for that matter. but never confuse meditation with meditation technique. remember: meditation is when you are not and yet awareness is there.

      thanks for the great description. the purpose of sitting on that certain position (cross-leg posture), is that the receptivity of the body and the mind (and consequently the energy system) is maximum and at its best, that's why this certain posture is persevered throughout the history. But any other comfortable position will also yield the result.

      @@BuddhaScience I fully understand the benefits as long as it can be comfortable for an individual. What I don't understand is this prevailing insistence on crossed-leg posture. It really is not very helpful and it can be potentially harmful.
