Most of my CS classmates use MacBooks for coding, and I felt left out. But after watching this video, I’m so glad I stuck with my 6-year-old Windows laptop. It has been really helpful with my software engineering career while also chilling out with gaming. It's also upgradable and easily customizable but in the end, it's really up to the user's preference and availability options. Thanks for helping me avoid falling for the bandwagon effect!
I'm glad the video helped! Yeah for the sake of versatility Macs really aren't great at the moment, hopefully they keep working on it and improve it, maybe in a few years it would be stable and flexible enough. But in the workspace, some companies use Macs, so only then i believe it is better to get a Mac, sometimes these companies might even sponsor you money to buy a Mac so win-win i guess :D
but yeah, this video does not mean you cannot do a degree with a Macbook it's just much more tedious and you have to spend more time trying to debug and finding ways to get things to work on your Mac, rather than working on the project at hand.
So basically the problem is between the chair and the macbook!
Hahah are you talking about the thumbnail?
I like bittergourd so much and my relatives thought that I'm kind of unique because this veggie just consumed by certain people from certain region in my country.
Give it seasoning likes spicy, seeet or etc. It will blown ur mind
I made salted egg sauce in the full video but might try with other seasonings
Thank you very much. This video made me see that I really want computer science
I'm glad it helped. 😌
i bought Linux laptops while in college and university. i'm glad that my education system didn't make us rely on proprietary tools. i specifically searched a laptop with Ubuntu (or some Linux) installed so the drivers wouldn't be a problem, and i wouldn't pay MS money for something i wouldn't use anyway.
I have yet to dabble with Linux laptops 😅 is it something easy to pick up and learn?
@@garrichf i think YT flagged my earlier comments LoL. i had got a Dell laptop back then, but these days you can get better specs with "Framework" or "System76" laptops. Linux is not easy, but learning it will teach you how computers operate.
i think the processor architecture compatibility issue has been solved by now for virtual machines. for me, the reason why i didn't have Mac during college and university is just money. lol you get way more storage and memory for the same price, but you trade that off for battery life. as a student, i was always near a wall plug, so no problem. but now as a professional, i need to move around with my laptop a lot (the days of office desktops ended when i just entered the workplace), and having the larger battery helps. and not to forget, it's the company money buying the top-end MacBook.
yeah 100% but virtual machines were still a problem for me in my previous semester which is a couple months ago. Because the problem is not 100% because it cannot run VM but more of the school used packages that required the use of a specific VM software, which did not support ARM chips that was my problem. Other than that everything you mentioned is spot on
I eat it RAW yeah RAW it's taste like cucumber with a little bit bitterness the point is CLEAN THE INSIDE AS CLEAN AS POSSIBLE. Using spicy sambal as dipping sauce, turn this into perfection.
Interesting, never tried it raw!
justru paitnya itu esensinya😂 semakin pait semakin enak
Sayur pare?
iya 🤙
Doesnt removing the bitterness also remove all the vegetables essential vitamins? The bitter taste is all the nutrients right?
i mean i wouldnt know, it removes like majority of the bitterness especially if you cut thin but if you cut thicker slices of course you'll still taste the bitterness
if you figure out whether it removes the vitamins do let me know hahaha
I am Data science student Bro I want buy laptop what laptop you recommend ?...
If you are still a student in uni, especially for the next few years, i still recommend just investing in a entry level gaming laptop with 16 GB ram and it should be enough to get you through uni. Without the extra hassle and troubleshooting you'd have to do with a Mac, also you might have some units where you interact with Virtual Machines so using a Windows will be preferred.
besides making it a snack, it's easier if you make it into a stir-fry, thinly sliced bitter melon is soaked in salt water and add a little baking soda to reduce the bitterness and hardness, drain and you can stir-fry with garlic, shallots, chilies, small shrimp / anchovies, add seasoning, add sweet soy sauce, salty soy sauce, sesame seeds, and tomatoes then it's done. and a little advice for the wet flour of the bitter melon chips, you can use rice flour, coriander, pepper, salt, flavoring / msg and garlic powder, it makes it more fragrant
hmmm, i just started cooking might give that a try in the future! Thanks for sharing the recipe Anna
I never will accept that vegetable in my life!!!! NEVERRRRR
Try the recipe, and you might just like this one recipe. Let me know if you do!!
The first time i ate it in Indonesia i totally thought they cooked it wrong
why hahah
great video, btw is that a watch or?
huh, what are you referring to?
I assume they're talking abt your locket thingy
I thought someone is hanging on the door 😅
wtf ahaha scared me for a sec, had to rewatch to see what you were talking about
bro you have to try sauce made from chopped red pepper, chilli jam, onion, honey, and some spices(black pepper, sugar, salt) then mix it with that crispy bitter melon
Sounds interesting! I'll have to give it a try but is that spicy cuz i can't handle my spice.
@@garrichf you can remove the spicy as long as it's still medium-thicc red glossy sauce, but overall it will look like chinese dish called Egg foo young
3:16 I literally have bottles and unnecessary things on my table right now, thank you for reminding I need to get back on my project and focus
When you someday visit Indonesia, just try some herbal drink or "jamu" called "pahitan".
I am indo hahah, currently visiting Jakarta, sounds intriguing i have never tried that drink
I have a feeling you might not be a fan of the jamu, my friend! 😅 If bitter gourd isn't your thing, then the pahitan might not be your taste either. But hey, that just means there are plenty of other delicious options out there for you to enjoy!
You can add some salt to the water and squeeze them before you rinse it, the salt helps to remove the bitterness really well😆
yea i had that inside the full video
That's not that bitter, we call it pare in Indonesia. Biji mahoni or temulawak is waaaaaay bitterer.
ooo i gak pernah coba Biji mahoni and temulawak
@@garrichf I see lah, you're a Malaysian right? My friend studied computer science too, now he's in Germany, making loads of money selling software. You're doing well man?

@@damiettamataram3492 he's a Malaysian

1:34 same for me. i cant live without gaming🙃
Finally someone who cut it thinly and leave it in water to remove the bitterness 😩
thats a must if not its bitter af hahahah 🤣
It’s easy. On Mac Download Virtual Machine use windows problem solved.
Have you given it a try? If it works please elaborate more, i'm very intrigued.
@@garrichf I use it all the time. I love it. UTM is a great wrapper on QEMU. You can get a Windows 11 ARM VM on your Mac that way and use x86 to ARM translation in Windows. It works quite well and is surprisingly fast (especially for me on base model M1). Although x86 VMs your school will provide might not work or they will be really slow, and you can't run a VM inside of another VM.
so run Windows 11 then download another VM inside of the Windows 11 VM?
@@garrichfNo. Don't do that. It will be way too slow and it will be ARM Windows anyways. I found UTM to be a lot more stable than raw QEMU and it crashes less in my experience. I don't know what caused your VM to crash, but for me they have always worked flawlessly. Although if I had a Windows PC available to me, I would probably use that instead because I agree that it's way less hassling around to get things to work.
@@TheosTechTipswhat’s UTM and QEMU? Does it works better than running windows on parallels?
this one goes for design as well! great video. 🎉
thanks, glad it helped! Yea i think the principals can be applied for other courses as well!
Why all people working for Facebook or Google have MacBook?
like i mentioned after university you can buy a Macbook if the the company you wish to worm for demands it or whether you decide to use a Mac for your personal projects. I am just giving advice in terms of the computer to use for university because using a windows computer will allow for less troubleshooting because the tutorials and laboratory sessions are more built and directed at Windows. Most of the time id you have a problem on the mac OS the tutor and lecturer are unhelpful so you have to figure things out yourself, the school is also not going to change the assignments requirements just because you are on a mac and are having problems. I reccomend using a windows computer just until you get throuth university.
the reason (i assume) why a company uses Macbook only or Windows only for example is because cross operating system development can introduce difficulties in terms of dependency and library versions and its much easier to just have the same opersting system for software development .
I'm planning to apply for computer science and data science programs, and I'm glad I came across this video, thanks for sharing it. I'm also looking to change my lifestyle, moving away from constant gaming to focus on studying. However, I'm uncertain about whether to buy a Windows laptop, considering fact than not all programs are compatible with Mac. I really like the Apple ecosystem and am considering purchasing a MacBook with the M4 chip and 24GB of ram, but still not sure what should I buy. Anyways, thanks for the video! Now I’m going to think more carefully about my purchase
Glad it helped, in my opinion i still think you should save the money just buy a "good enough" windows gaming laptop to get you through university or the program and then upgrade to a Mac if you still want to afterwards when you don't have to work on assignments made by schools.
which are the best battery life windows computers?
in terms of a windows gaming laptop, last i checked it was the Zephyrus G14. But there are probably new ones out there rn
What about using parallel? Did it help?
Parallels is basically a virtual machine software made for running Windows on macOS, and it’s great for that. But when it comes to running other types of VMs, it’s not as flexible, based on my understanding. Universities, for example, provide pre-configured VM packages that only work with specific platforms like VirtualBox or VMware, so you’d need one of those to open them. Because of that, Parallels isn’t super useful in those cases unless you specifically need it for Windows. Another big thing is that parallels is not free so thats another subscription to pay for and include in your budget.
You can't run x86 VMs because it's emulation not virtualization, and it's paid. I strongly prefer UTM which is an open-source wrapper on QEMU.
I have tried converting another vm to QEMU but it was slow and unstable, hence the example i gave in the video when it crashed and did not want to open again in the most unfortunate time possible
Homebrew solve all you issues on Mac. you really have to try it
Due to the fact that most of the software used are not compatible, most of the students should use a Windows Laptop. I think that you should be able to use Anydesk in your gaming computer using your mac, to make some of your work. But not all can have a desktop gaming pc and a macbook (currently the setup I have), wich I think its the best combo, when I was in Uni I had a gaming windows laptop, as you said I had to be plugged all the time, but we received classes in the "Laboratories", where all the seats had plugs, so it wasnt really an issue other than carrying like 12 pounds of my laptop and chager. Honestly I find your video very useful, some friends with windows laptop loved linux, and the always had like Manjaro or Ubuntu or PopOS installed in a partition, but cant really get rid of windows. Of course the hardware can be as good as the software you can use.
I 100% agree. If you’re dead on sticking with a Mac, pairing it with a gaming desktop at home that you can access remotely is a fantastic setup, but can be a hassle to set up. But if someone’s buying a device just for university and doesn’t have a big budget, a Windows gaming laptop is a solid all-in-one solution that’ll easily get them through university. They can always upgrade afterwards, to meet their future employer requirements. As for always needing to be plugged in, once you’re actually in university, you realise that power sockets are everywhere. And honestly, the number of times you’ll actually sit down in a café to do real work is pretty rare, it’s more of a nice idea than something you’ll do often.
