Beginners should start with shoulder strengthening and conditioning first. I’m 63 year female with poor left shoulder due to old injury. I couldn’t lift my left arm above my head. Reaching up to the top shelves was a bummer. It took me weeks and months to slowly lift 3 lbs weight, then 5, 10 and 15 before I could just dead hang for 15 seconds. Yay! May be one day I could monkey around like you. 😂 Tyfs

Great, I am looking for more goalie specific stuff for the kids I coach. I hate feeling that goalies end up either just doing the exact same things as other players during dryland or act as an end of drill shooting prop during practice. Those slide push-offs though will be beneficial to players as well, I have never seen that exercise.

Good advice but protect yourself at ALL times. Even on the heavy bag. Don’t get in the habit of dropping your hands especially when you’re tired.

Quick question: Would it be better to wear knee pads (like for skateboarding) during the knee-down exercises, so that the knees don't get torn up with the repetitive contact? Or would that not make much of a difference?
I think thats a preference thing. Some goalies have worse knees than others, so if your knees are sometimes in rough shape, I'd recommend using the pads.
Get yourself a 1 to 2 inch HD foam pad
Many thanks, I've been looking for "hockey training workout" for a while now, and I think this has helped. You ever tried - Banonnor Veyathan Release - (search on google ) ? Ive heard some interesting things about it and my partner got great results with it.
