Episode #51: Being a Small Business Triple-Threat with Rob Schuck
Rarely do you see in the residential real estate industry an independent brokerage owner that also happens to own mortgage and insurance brokerages as well. Meet Rob Schuck, a childhood friend of Sean's and a "small business triple threat." On Rob's ep, Sean & Tim talk about the current Philadelphia real estate market, predicting home vales at the South Jersey Shore, and an angle to the NAR lawsuits that most have never even considered. Great convo with a great entrepreneur!
Our goal with Bricks & Risk is that you walk away with 1 or 2 valuable nuggets that help build YOUR business. Our audience grows through word of mouth, so if you would please take a moment of your time and give us a review on the platform you’re on, that would be fantastic!

Episode #50: Our 50th Episode ... LIVE!
มุมมอง 21วันที่ผ่านมา
We did it, we made it to 50! One of our past podcast guests told us that only 1% of all podcasts have 50 episodes or more, and whether that is accurate or not in December 2024 is not what matters; we prepped-for, created, and released 50 podcast episodes ... that's what matters. Not only have Sean & I handled all of the broadcasting and marketing on our own, but we've also had a lot of fun alon...
Episode #49 Why Sellers Make More Through Listing Agents
มุมมอง 4221 วันที่ผ่านมา
Have you ever heard the term "FSBO?" Pronounced by the industry as "fizz-bo," a For Sale By Owner listing means that a homeowner is marketing their home for sale without the help of a Seller Agent (aka Listing Agent). Now ... why would anyone in the world want to do that? Haha; just kidding, folks. Well, for starters, the cost to sell is typically less for FSBOs, and who doesn't want to save mo...

Congrats on the big 5-0 guys! Well done !🎉
Thanks, Reider! We appreciate the support.
Did she just describe google?
Fair point. But, Amy has carefully built a local, vetted group of vendors in the SD market, so that her clients don’t have to vet them through platforms like Google and then cross their fingers. She creates trust with her network, and therefore, passes that trust along to clients. Referred vendors, especially for home care, are worth their weight in gold.
Translation - "I am an unnecessary middleman that adds costs and bureaucracy, inbetween real businesses and thier customers"
Thanks for your feedback. While I see where you are coming from, I respectfully disagree. Being a connector is not unnecessary, it’s a need; especially in residential real estate. If a connector chooses to charge money for business development, businesses will pay it if the opportunities are there. If there were no opportunities, they would pass. Therefore, and if done right, this can create a triple win: client, middle-person, and business.
I would be lying if I didn't already have Tim pegged as a triple crème guy. Hes got that friendly, soft approach. Sean I imagine likes something with a little kick to it. Probably a hard parmigiano reggiano kind of guy. Am I right ?
you nailed it @dennyod323 🧐🧐 tim would fall under the extra soft crème whereas sean would be extreme hardness of the reggiano family. maybe even a blended munster jalapeno for some extra oomph
Hahaha, awesome. Triple Creme Brie all day, my man.
Outstanding video quality! Let’s work on boosting those rankings."
about 25 emails back and forth for the logo, Mooney, I just checked
Hahaha, I love it. Thank you for sharing the official play-by-play, Brent.
💯 💯 💯
We could not agree more!
Who is investing off of bank rates anyways. That is loser strategy and mentality
Completely understand that viewpoint, @dustina6261. But, think of the everyday corporate employee or small business owner who has $100K sitting in an account and the goal is to put it into a rental property. Likely, they are getting traditional bank/lender financing. Buying a single family home, getting a tenant to put money in your pocket monthly, and then getting all of the tax benefits can be a valuable move for some; not all. We appreciate you watching and commenting, thanks!
I hear this is why the big investment firms are bailing out of Florida at a loss because it’s going to bleed them dry.
I don’t work in that market personally, but I’m sure that’s a big reason why. Insurance has never been an everyday concern in my almost 25 year real estate industry career; but it is today. Thanks for watching and sharing your thoughts, @seabass22!
Appreciate the shoutout fellas!
You bet Brad - you do a great job with the ATO and one of our favorites
Knowledge broker…. Thanks for putting it that way now ik wtf I am lol
Hahaha! Our pleasure. Thanks for sharing, we appreciate it.
Bro said a whole lot of nothing
Bro this was the teaser vid. You have to view the full episode to see that Reid is offering the most revolutionary type of home inspection in the country.
An asian?
Thanks for watching, Rick. Sorry, but I’m not understanding your comment. Maybe my fast Philly accent?
@@BricksandRiskindeed
Sorry, Philadelphians can talk fast and sometimes omit consonants. Thanks for watching!
Great episode! Building relationships is crucial in business. Excited to use these tips. Keep it up, Bricks & Risk team! ⭐
Thanks for watching, Todd! We appreciate the feedback and support.
lol having zero support is an advantage now apparently
It can be an advantage as it forces you to branch out and create your own network. And not rely on friends who may or may not support you
Because 90% of y'all suck at fucking driving. The rest of us have to suffer high prices because you don't see what the big deal is as you swerve all over the lines in your lane
Actually the natural disasters such as floods, hurricanes, fires etc. Buyouts on vehicles are more expensive and they are balancing the portfolio across the country
All true. There are a lot of reasons why insurance companies are struggling right now. The strain is happening because all of these different factors are hitting all at once.
Own it💪🏽
Agreed, thanks for watching!
Started buying at 33, finished at 59.
Love it, thanks for sharing!
The average first-time home buying age in the United States has been about 33 for for more than 100 years. Not shocking that millennials are following that trend, especially when you consider there are millennials in their 40s.
Thanks for sharing, @moultdog! We love getting feedback, comments, and stats. Interestingly, in 2023, the median age was 49 (my guess is that is mostly due to boomers also being a big buying group). It was 36 in 2022, depending on the source.
I checked out the rental market in my neighborhood and I was absolutely floored. I bought a condo and I pay a third to buy it versus rent it.
Great to hear that buying is better than renting in your local market. Thanks for sharing that!
"Almost unaffordable to buy" My income alone can't even pay rent for a one bedroom in the city i work in. This is a post degree non entry level job. How can anyone save any money? After cutting spending, car paid off, entertainment costs basically zero, there's still nothing left after food basically being rice and beans with a cheap protein. This economy is too far gone and companies aren't getting slapped on the wrist like they should be. Get rich or be homeless.
We appreciate you sharing your thoughts, @jollytswift. Agreed, “life prices” need to come down. Sorry to hear about your current financial strains, and hope you got something out of our episode!
Referring the “mish” and how it’s paid was always part of the convo at the buyer consult, same with getting a BAC signed. The NAR settlement will destroy small brokerages and most will not be able to run the risk of having new agents. If you’re a good agent you will get more market share. Also agree, BA’s will need to earn their money and show their value
Great feedback, Robert! Thanks for sharing your thoughts.
I don't really feel like it lends credibility. You can still pay for good reviews and get legitimate bad reviews. I do tend to pay more attention to the bad reviews though and see what specifically they're complaining about. It's usually pretty easy to tell if it's someone that's just mad or if the company is genuinely bad. A lot of bad reviews will have constructive criticism rather than just ranting.
@nicdominus you aren't wrong with this. I do think people can tell when the person leaving the review is a jerk or a normal person with a real beef. Our contention was that a bad review does lend for an opportunity to reply and show how real you are AND that a bad review mixed with many more reviews could lend some credibility
These are probably the same things he says when denying an employee for a raise
We would wager that it's just the opposite and his employees love working there
Android for life! 🤣
Hey, nothing wrong with a Droid; just ask Sean, haha. Thanks for your support, Christine!
Great stuff, fellas!! Everyone should watch this.
Thanks, Tzorf! We appreciate the support, lots more episodes to come.
