Miata drift car A arm mods
I have Destroy or die A arms and knuckles on my Miata
At full lock (especially when left foot braking) the wheel can contact the upper A arm
It damages the wheel and bends the A arm
So time to fix it

SR20DET oiling issue
มุมมอง 692 ปีที่แล้ว
Lots of maintenance and upgrades on the 240 Fixed a bunch of leaky exhaust gaskets and replaced the rear pcv hose that seemed to be leaking more oil than it should even have in it (Figured that out as well) Once the car was started (and quiet now) the top end definitely seemed to be a lil noisy. I wanted to at least peek under the valve cover to see if anything was broken This is what I found

This is the 8v71 out of my 1967 GM 4107 bus. I rebuilt the locked up blower and just installed it to see if the engine was even run, it hasn’t run in almost 25 years.

I rebuild my 871 Detroit Diesel Blower!
มุมมอง 13K4 ปีที่แล้ว
This is the blower out of my 1967 GMC PD4107 bus. This bus was converted to a RV 30 years ago then left sitting for 23 yrs after the owner moved south. Its powered my a 8V-71 Detroit diesel and a Spice 4 speed manual transmission. All attempts to get the motor turning over resulted in failure, after much investigation the supercharger was found to be the culprit. we removed it and this is the p...
1967 GM 4107 Bus RV conversion door repair
มุมมอง 1.1K4 ปีที่แล้ว
I bought this bus a month ago and have been working on some drivetrain stuff, but one item that needed checked off before winter was the bent up door. The door had been left open when the bus was abandoned and as it sank into the ground the door got hung up and bent. I really wanted to make it operational before winter so today I set out to make that happen

Disgusting smoking
Hey, just found your channel... Have you made any further progress on the bus? I have a similar project of a '71 MCI MC-7 with a really smokey 8v71. It isn't too often I get a chance to work on my bus as there always seems to be a hotter fire to put out. Watching your videos gives me a boost of enthusiasm. Looks like you are in NY. I'm near the NY, VT and MA boarders. Optimistically thinking, one day our busses might cross paths.
Man that looks like the thought spray as far as the color but how can that get in there. Super strange
Diesel Pro has a blower rebuild video if you want to double up on the procedure. When it comes to fixing shit I love TH-cam.
You gotta be more careful with background music, TH-cam uses automatic listening for certain copy written songs that will flag your video and they will pull it down unless you pay royalties or edit all music out and it will be refunded till you do. Just letting ya know buddy keep up the good work.
Do you have any updates on the bus progress?
Its the joker blower. It has red paint and big scars on its face. And it wants you to ask where it got them.
Hey, Looking for a little advice. I'm taking the blower off of my 4106 that's setup like yours it. I'm about ready to unbolt it, but I don't understand how the drive shaft comes apart. The boot around it is loose. Do you just pull it straight out away from the back of the engine. What happens to the shaft and how do you get it lined up to go back in. Your help would be appreciated.
Hello there is this BEUTY on the road?
Wooden dowels would work better for the plug seals Bv
Grease sealed bearing means no oil feed needed. Those bearings are not the good ones
It's a v blower
The smell described screams marvels mystery oil, but the balance of those rotors is important to consider.
It maybe better pressuring the fuel system 35 lbs. from a canister . Restricting the fuel return with a ball valve partially open will fill the system . After start is complete open ball valve completely .
Our 471 blower was stuck I fixed it with a can of pb blaster , piece of 2x4 and a decent size hammer its running good now
where did you shoot the pb blaster
Isn't this a 2-cycle diesel engine and doesn't this "BLOWER" actually scavenge the crank case (vacuum)? Thanks for the video. Sorry for the late reply.
Wow, I had no idea of this problem. I have their rear knuckles, front knuckles, and front lower arms waiting here for my v8 conversion to begin, glad I don't have the uppers as well, I'd be pissed.
I don’t blame the parts at all They are being heavily taxed. It’s just part of the game
Nice to have the tools to make custom parts!!!! Thanks!
It is nice Definitely couldn’t afford to build this thing without them 😊
I suggest cleaning, re seal, and use it. The coach has many systems/parts that should also receive attention. If you go deep on the engine will you short change the rest?
You are working on a coach that had relatively low production numbers and because they are so really desirable, most have been shipped out of the country leaving maybe as many as 50 or so in the US. I have owned 2 GM coaches now and am heading out to tackle my third - a Buffalo with a locked up engine! Th 35' are the sports car of old busses- really excellent engineering. Don't hesitate to contact me.
I know it's a little belated but a got engine shop that does plateau honing can refinish these liners taking less than half a thou out, just a bit of trivia for anyone watching and thinking about refreshing there's
Good luck!
Want to sell it
Stupid is as stupid does…..
I've done the same thing with a project car. I had brakes but I spur of the moment jumped in it to go right to gas station a block away and the damm hood came up on me haha
Happens….lol
If you've got the money convert it to a turbo depending on the application. They're better on fuel. Also fuck those trunk pistons off and put crossheads in with new liners.
Would u rebuild mine to a gas and blast the outside I am from Springfield mo it dont look to bad but I am disabled not I am having friends build my car they are way cheaper, but if u would be willing to rebuild mine I will buy the gas kit it's going on a dart bbc in a 55 chevy 210 gasser it dont look to hard but I am not able to anymore. You can call me 417-848-1826 my name is Don
I also have an V drive 8V-71. The best thing I did was to convert ALL filters to spin on. AND mount the engine oil filter by oil lines to the bulkhead above the transmission. Super easy to get to the filter for oil changes.
Do you have any blow by with the dipstick out
53 mins in, I’m gonna bet you never get it timed right and it won’t turn after you put it together. Secondly if you drained the fluid out of that rotor and you do get it working it will fail in a short amount of run time… let’s see if I’m right Presses play…
1m18s in. I’m impressed
Nice job
A year later still running
Balance fluid

I love the sound of the 318 Detroit
New liner, refaced head, that's a bus that's dropped a valve some where in it's past. Big end bearing wear is also an indication of an engine that has spend a lot of time running on the governor at maximum rpm. Have the block pressure tested to be sure there's no porosity or cracks in the cooling jackets, one of the bores looked a bit odd where the water jacket is, like the bore was eroded. A great engine, not much power, not much torque, not very economical compared to a newer engine, but it's still repairable after 70 odd years that says something.
How are things coming along with the bus?
I noticed several liners have no cross hatching left, I would rebuild it.
Hey man, i’m wondering if you could maybe draw up a diagram of the blower and the blower parts? or if you have one already? the reason i’m asking is that i got one from my grandpa/grandma(grandpa died), and i was messing with it last night, and i don’t really know what any of it is. i’m talking about like what everything’s called and what it looks like. it’s harder for me to find info on it.
When parked these engines have at least one cylinder with both the exhaust valves open and the inlet ports uncovered, natural draft through the engine carries moist air in through the engine, noted the rust on the liner ports, frozen blower is more common on lay over engines where the blower housing can't drain through into the engine. You will most likely have some stuck valves as well.
either a balancing fluid or a cooling fluid
how hard is it going to work? hours per week?
Dang! I spent all that money on my Kent Moore Detroit tools over 30 years ago and your tools look way better than mine :) Great job!
if you're into the engine this far, I hope you spit the pistons and looked at the wrist pins too.
Trunk pistons in this old girl It’s getting a full rebuild
