Etnies shoe review - BMX Flatland
After watching @flatlandjourney and his frustration with Vans upper durability I decided to review my last 3 shoes. The Marana Michelin Fiberlite wins (all black one). Wish they continued this shoe is amazing for #bmxflatland #etnies

Jon Knight - December 2024 Progress - Flatland BMX

As Storm Bert was battering the Flatland shed I just turned up the music to 11 and got on with a session. Occasionally Flatland gives you a gift of a good day where everything just clicks and this was it. All clips taken on 23/11/2024 at the Wolf's Lair in Paignton. Lee couldn't make the usual Saturday session so there was no excuse to get an update on my progress down on cam. #bmx #bmxlife #bm...

Flatland BMX - Jon Knight July 2024 Update - McCircle Madness
มุมมอง 7726 หลายเดือนก่อน
Been practising my McCircle to get it tighter in the spin and linking it with other tricks. Still working on turbines, seems very hard to get more than a couple. Started learning turbines with no tyre kick which is harder. Need to get back on regular clockwise Megaspins next but seem to be stuck on 2.5 circles for months. #bmxflatland #bmx #flatland #ukbmx #ridebmx #bikelife #biketricks
Jon Knight - BMX Flatland - May 2024 progress update

BMX Flatland update, in the UK its been non stop rain so hanging out with Lee M in the indoor spot has been amazing. Had some knee problems but thankfully not too bad so been cracking on with trying to get past 2 turbines in peg wheelie and working on squeaker whips. Started to be able to link a bunch of stuff together from side squeak and utilising swivels to go from front to back into Green B...
BSD Revolution new v1.5 Planetary Clutch Freecoaster mechanism installation and testing
มุมมอง 29111 หลายเดือนก่อน
Delighted to receive the new BSD v1.5 planetary mechanism for their freecoaster wheelset. This new mechanism resolves a number of issues in the previous one such as the O-ring has been replaced by a spring. No need to run it dry. Plus it has two slack settings. Here we walk through replacing and testing. Although the cranks did catch once on the spin test I can tell you that's a 10x improvement...

Anyone have any ideas how to fix this? These were on sale for 150 in source before xmas so I bought one. My one seems to catch every now and then which is super annoying, regular freecoasters you can disengage them manually with a little backpedal before going into your link. I'm not a noob to coasters and can confidently strip any of the ones I've had , Suntour, Nankai, Odyssey Clutch V2 to na...
BMX Flatland - Jon Knight - Year End 2023 - Progress Edit

Last session of the year at the Lee M spot and everything came together in one 3 hour session, managed to get most if not all my tricks and combos down. Big thanks to @leemusselwhite8525 for the riding and the lifestyle we have there every week. I am 49 years old and back into flatland for nearly 3 years after a very long break (15 years.) A great year at the spot with some memorable visits by ...

Dialling in Peg Wheelies - BMX Flatland Practise sessions - October 2023

Mastering peg wheelies aka "Dork Wheelies" is a fundamental skill to BMX flatland. There's many variations like rolling straight, circles and spinning then switch foot, inside, outside, two footed (rocket). I am just over two years back into my Flatland journey after a long period off the bike and looking to progress onto stuff like Turbines and Time Machines but still getting the fundamentals ...

BMX Flatland - Lee Musselwhite - 3 Minute Miracle
มุมมอง 334ปีที่แล้ว
Effraim Catlow once described the 3 minute run as "the ultimate challenge" and for good reason. At this level Lee ticks every box, Execution, Originality, Style, Consistency. This is a clip from a practise session at his spot preparing for the UK Nationals where he hits everything. Most are Lee's own original moves (snake spin I think was a Geoff Martin creation). Nice one dude. Just checked eBay, there’s a few Ernie’s Marana shoes on there 👍

@ unlucky bro
great video and music. nowadays, flatlanders are mostly Figure Skating, and listening to rap music..
Thank you for this post! Most enjoyable video the TH-cam algorithm has sent my way in a while. These guys have mad balance skills
Just incredible! I do like this style of riding.
nice one..keep it up 💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽
Yea oldschool🤘🏻🤘🏻🔥🔥🔥🔥
Sweet as fuck bro you're getting better in your old age than when you were a young lad lol 👌
Is this worth for flatland usage ..?😊
if you cant afford a z-coaster/FEC its probably the next best thing. The zero gap is nice but it does have weird issues
I really like Day Smith's link at 1:13, especially the forward frame whip things he does at 1:41. Very slick. Very smooth. Goes with the music well even though the music is c**p lol.
yo PB still got your GT Show?
@@dopelordz That threw me how you knew I had a GT Show lol, then looked at your other videos! What an amazing memory you have. Nice to ride with you back in the day. The GT Show went to the dump a few years ago after having not been ridden for many years and a few problems that I couldn't be bothered to fix. Basically, I stopped riding. Still love watching the videos on TH-cam from the VHS videos I used to watch to death in the day! Your riding is looking extremely smooth! 👌
@@newbarker523 well uk scene never was massive so definitely remember you at level vibes / Southsea etc noooo not the dump they go for $$ now. Thanks I’m trying my hardest to progress as much as a 50 year old can I might even be up to 1994 levels now lol yeh Mid school for life! Peace out
@@dopelordz Ha ha - you're definitely well beyond 1994 levels 👍 Well done for continuing into your 50s. Great for fitness and mental health. I do a lot of road cycling these days. I've subscribed and will be keen to see what you're up to riding-wise in the coming years.

Nice work! I like the front wheel to the back wheel stuff 🤩🤙
Cheers mate looking forward to more progress vids from yourself now starring…. The old timer machine ha
so good!! keep it up!
Thanks mate its a lot warmer than when you was here!
Did you find out what’s going on? I think the lubricant got on the plastic, that’s why it’s correct and doesn’t work
Tried all that didn't make a difference. The new mech is better but still engages every now and then.
Now there's a name I haven't read in years! Good stuff!
how well do 2.35s do on it with it being a wider rim
Ah dunno on that one as only run 1.75s
Where did you order this from mate
I got mine direct from BSD after speaking with the guys there about the issues if they arent on sale on the BSD site yet I think alienation ones are which are same
A blast from the past when flatland seemed smoother and more flowing , and the bikes looked more muscular. Superb rider and video.
im still at a loss as to how BSD can release a product that has problems and everyone is ok with it. there should be a recall.
Audio portion of this video is what too low.
Thanks, unfortunately youtube nerfed down the audio level due to the banging of the axle part was loud. There doesnt seem to be a way to boost it without re-uploading the whole thing. If you are interested the transcript does an accurate job of what I say.
Hey Jon, this might tip me over the edge for a freecoaster. How reliable is the slack when it is on minimum slack? I think I could do a wheelie with this. Oo, can you peddle out of both rock walks and360 bunny hop? Cheers 🤙
Ah well even though it would be awesome for wheelies and cranking them along like you do, these planetaries are not so good with pedal pressure tricks. The rule is you need to pedal forward quicker than the wheel is rotating backwards or it "moon walks". In practice and when I tested a pedal rockwalk it slipped on me, unless I stomp the pedal fast forward. Any tyretap trick will be same which includes your 360 pedal out. Best to see if you can find someone with a planetary at the next melbourne jam and have a go yourself. The only coaster that completely fits your requirement is the profile Z coaster, which is what Lee uses and its bulletproof for everything, but wildly expensive. I personally don't do any tyretap tricks so its not a problem for me but this is what will happen on your 360 skip to 4 mins 49 secs th-cam.com/video/dwQM5xiFROY/w-d-xo.htmlsi=uOSOkKe9grTmhnk8&t=289
Nicely done! I saw those McCircles 🤩🤙
Damn! And yeah, it is super annoying. My colony coaster got better when I replaced the little spring inside it. But it wasn't brand new when it started catching. My first thought was that the chain seems unusually loose. Then I read that this was recommended by BSD? That seems rather odd. Sorry man, I can't offer any suggestions.
Cheers Scott yeh I could do another video with it doing it with the chain tight too its nothing to do with chain tension. Thats what I'm looking at next as the springs that come with it are tiny and seem a bit weak, its like its not retracting in time for the pawls to catch on reversing. The colony swarm coaster looks identical internally. Whats weird is that if you whizz the wheel forwards and backwards at top speed it almost never does it. its when you do it slower it catches, and not every time just here and there, and normally when you don't want it to!
mabe the paws arent retractiong or the chain is too loose
I made the chain this loose because BSD suggested it was because of my tight chain. Definitely the pawls not retracting but I cant see why its only occasionally.
What frame is McKinney riding? Is that a Homeless Player?
Idk I'm pretty sure he was on S&M tho
This video encapsulates a beautiful vibe of creative, timeless flatland bmx, really nice
You can almost see how heavy those bikes were. I still have my old S&M Sabbath from around the same year as this vid, and it’s got to be at least 35 pounds lol
The sabbath came out a long time after these clips….
According to S&M's website, the Sabbath was released in 1996, the same year as this vid. I'm fairly certain that's what McKinney is riding here.
@@mark_spit7839 That’s not a sabbath. The seat stays are too square and there is a gap between the top and down tube at the head tube. There is no downtube gusset. I’d guess this is a custom heavy as fu** with the brake mounted on the seat stay. I’d also say this was filmed before the jan/feb 1996 release. Probably end of summer 1995.
@@mondoabz Holy $hit. Good eye dude. The lack of a gusset is a dead giveaway. Surprised I missed that.
Showwww...my boy..😎🙃🇧🇷🇺🇸
Nice one! I am surprised you didn't do anti-clockwise circles as well with virtually every other permutation. Gah, I need to do this, too. Cheers man🤙
I’ll definitely buy you a coffee if you can do 2 circles for each of the 4 variations both clockwise and anti. I can only do regular outside anti the other 3 feel alien lol
Amazing!!
Bmx Thanks 🫡🥰🤝🤝 Bmx
No links so imo not so interesting. He plays safe.

I always thought of tricks as something that I had to pay a price for. The price is paid in time, effort, sweat, and sometimes blood. The prices are different for everyone and every trick. Keep making your “payments” and you’ll eventually own it. That looks like a great riding spot. I’m guessing it’s a purpose built garage of some sort with a particle board floor?
I am lucky enough to live in same town as Lee M so get to use his spot which is a purpose built shed n his back yard. As a late 40 something getting back into it after 15 years off the bike It has been a punishing game of relearning my old tricks and trying to progress. What even is classed as beginner tricks now takes months and months so your kind comments are greatly appreciated! Ride on brother…
Those are not exactly “simple” tricks. You’re doing some advanced stuff there and it looks great! Keep having fun with it.
That's a nice editing style for flatland videos.
Killer stuff - never seen any of these clips before. McKinney's part is nuts and Day's vertical Smith decade at 0:47 -holy shit! Anyone know the song that starts in Leo's part at 0:48?
Thanks for this! Really can't get enough of this time period. Day Smith and Sean wow!
This is so much better than this modern day whack twirling shit the “pros” have done for the past 15 years. Long live this old school perfection
There was spinning going on back in the day too; it's just that it seems that's all most of the pros do nowadays. Flatland needs to get back to a large diversity of styles like it once had.
I believe you bro ❤🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
