EASY!! DIY Fall Leaf Art with Melted Crayons -- Fun & Beautiful!
Turn your old crayons into beautiful art & decor for fall! This easy, low-cost project gives you vibrant fall leaf wall decor in less than an hour.
TIPS:
Crayola brand crayons work best for this project as they have a higher concentration of pigment than other brands.
Shallow cans (like the ones used for tuna and pet food) work better than taller cans as the short cans make it easier to dip into the melted wax. However, use whatever you have on hand.
You can cut your own leaf shapes from thin birch plywood to use as your base, or buy inexpensive unfinished wood leaf shapes.
For best results use an embossing heat tool to melt and swirl the colored crayon wax after brushing it onto your leaf.
Have fun creating!

Wow this is amazing 😮 so so cute bunny 🐰 ❤😢❤
Thank you a wonderful video
Thank you so much! :)
At 3:15 Mr Fish popped his head out and didn't look pleased.
Can I use regular acrylic paint for this?
Possibly. You will need to thin it down so that it is the same consistency as fluid acrylic. But definitely experiment and see if it works! :)
How come there is no sound
you must have turned your ears off accidentally :)
On n'a pas de détail sur le support quel genre de toile et si il y a eu du gesso au préalable et réponse en français
Hi, the base for the painting is a wood panel. You could also use a wood board. The wood panel was painted with white latex paint (and allowed to dry) before pouring the liquid colors on top.
Спасибо. Но со звуком видео смотрелось бы лучше.
Beautiful
thank you so much!!
My goodness, i have watched many videos on eyes. I must tell yours is the best one I've seen so far. Your fur technique is also incredible to watch. I will be turned in to your channel so i can learn more. Please keep making videos. You are an excellent painter and i love your soft voice too. Thank you ❤
You are so kind! Thank you so much for leaving this encouraging comment!! I appreciate it so much!
Das Bild ist wunderschön! Eine tolle Technik!💛🧡💚
This piece is stunning. Is the liquid soap added to all of the paints?
Hi! Yes, a couple of drops of liquid soap is added to all of the paints. It's the magic ingredient that helps to make the lacy, foamy look of the waves. :)
I use the exact ratio with also my hardware store sample paints. It was way too watery. wherever I had a dark blue. It mixed with the white and made a gray and a big puddle in the middle of my painting.
Oh I am so sorry your painting didn't turn out. With fluid art, sometimes the paint can be unpredictable. I hope your next painting turns out better. :)
Would love to see how u did the background! Love the painting.
j adore🎉❤❤👏👍💝
This really helped me with my gift for my friend. Thank you!
It makes me so happy to hear that this helped! I love that you made a gift for your friend! :)
why did you add dish wash ??
Dish soap helps to break apart the binders that hold fluid acrylic paint together. That allows you to get some nice special effects, like the bubbly, lacy, foamy look of sea and surf.
Wow, really pretty. 🤩💞🤩
Thank you so much 😀
So adorable! Is there a tutorial for the background?
Thank you so much! Unfortunately, I didn't film the background---but the process was fairly simple: I used a 1 inch wash brush to apply Sap Green acrylic paint (Liquitex brand) onto the canvas. I mixed the Sap Green paint with a little Golden glaze so that it would be easier to blend. For the darker areas, I mixed Payne's Gray into the Sap Green. For the yellow "lights" in the background, I used Cadmium-Free Yellow Light acrylic paint and twisted the brush in a circular motion. I hope this helps. :)
What about the mushrooms? I love this. Would like to try it.
You should upload more videos, you have explained very well.
thank you so very much for the kind and encouraging words :)
I see the fish
very cute thanks
Nice painting
Thank you so much 😀
Precioso.? Hay algún sistema para que no brillen?? Gracias
sí, cuando la pintura está seca, puedes aplicar un producto como "Modern Masters Dead Flat Varnish" sobre la superficie superior. Le dará a la pintura un acabado mate en lugar de brillante.
Saiu uma onda perfeita
Thank you! Very useful video. I was looking for some help to "re-create" David Fisher's Aphrodite and this seems to be in line with that! Question - Have you had issues of something larger and flat warping after some time? I tried something once with paper clay and it warped up ... Any tips to avoid that?
I love David Fisher's Aphrodite. :) In answer to your question---yes---large and flat things sometimes warp during the drying process. In order to prevent warping, I've tried air drying large pieces on an old oven rack so that air can circulate underneath as well as above. Sometimes I will even place a stack of books on top of a flat clay sculpture (once it has air dried to the point that it feels sort of like tough leather----fairly dry but still a bit flexible). (use parchment paper to keep books from sticking the clay surface). The weight of the books is often enough to keep it from warping up while it finishes the drying process. I hope your Aphrodite shell sculpture turns out amazing!

You are the best teacher. Your tutorial is interesting and enjoyable

Wow, this is so cute!
Thank you so very much!! :)
such detail painting !!! thank you for the tutorial !!!
Thank you so much, Tiffany! :)
Beautiful
thank you so very much! :)
Can you show us how you painted every thing?
That is an excellent suggestion! I will try to work on another video in the future showing how to paint a snail on a mushroom as well as the background. Thanks so much for the idea! :)
@@artucreate3303 thank you because I've been wondering how you painted the snail and mushrooms
Did you ever do this?
@@thefetcheroo yeah I did , it looked good just not as smooth and blended as hers
Thank you for this AWESOME tutorial!! I’ve been looking for a video that gave great details! Your video was the perfect one ! I will subscribe!
Thank you so very much for these kind words and for subscribing! :) I appreciate it so much!
Amazing content, great skills. And the video is a high-class video with the best quality. What else do we need? Thank you so much 🥰
Oh thank you so very much for all those kind words!! :)
Hi, I love this video. Would you mind listing what brushes and paints you used? Thanks!
Thank you so much, Derrick! I used tubes of Liquitex heavy body acrylic in these colors: Titanium White, Raw Umber, Raw Sienna, Payne's Gray, Naples Yellow, and Burnt Umber. I also used Golden Satin Glazing Liquid. It is fabulous for thinning acrylic paint in order to make washes and glazes, and it also slows the drying time so you have more time to blend. The brushes came from Michael's---a variety of flat shaders, a wash brush, a couple of round brushes, a small detail brush and a filbert brush. If you visit the page below on the artucreate website you can find lots of additional helpful tips for painting this fox and links to the exact brushes that I used: artucreate.com/2021/01/08/how-to-paint-fur-with-acrylics-glaze/ Thanks so much for taking time to leave a comment! :)
25% water is not 1/3... that is 1/4!! How much water do you use? :)))
Hi Nicoletta, thanks for your question. :) The ratio of water to paint is 1:3 (not 1/3)....so you'd measure 1 part water + 3 parts paint (which would equal 4 parts in all)..... or 25% water and 75% paint. For the video, I filled the measuring cup 1/4 full of water and then filled the remaining 3/4 of the cup with paint. Hope this helps to clarify the amounts needed, and I apologize if the directions were confusing. :) Have a beautiful day!
@@artucreate3303 thank you for the answer, now I understand!
Magnifique travail 👍👍👍👍
Thank you very much for sharing this amazing work, it's beautiful and I liked the way you explained it.
Oh thank you so much!! :)
Beautiful painting
Oh thank you so much Maddy! :)
Why did you spray with alcohol?
Hi Janice, The alcohol spray helps to break apart the paint--giving the art a "lacy" effect that looks similar to sea foam. In the video, you can compare how the white layer of paint looks before and after the quick spray of alcohol. If you are looking for a sea foam effect, this technique works pretty well. Thanks for asking :)
Thank you, l will give it a try.
Oh my gosh you did an amazing job. This little bunny looks so real I feel like touching it because it looks so soft and cuddly. You definitely made this look real. You did an amazing job. Thank you for the tutorial I love this. I wish I had seen this before I had painted my big rabbits that stand 2 1/2 ft tall. I plan on repainting them. I love that cream color you used for the fur. BEAUTIFUL JOB! ♥️♥️♥️♥️😊
Oh thank you SO much for all the kind words! I am so glad you liked the video. I love that you painted bunnies that are 2 1/2 feet tall! Wow! I bet they are amazing, and I hope they turn out beautifully when you repaint them! :)
Wow
Thank you so much!! :)
I love how the wave kinda looks like a turtle looking back..
Oh you are right, it actually does kinda look like a turtle. One of those happy accidental surprises! :) Thanks Emiley!
that's Mr Fish!
I would love to try this. Thank you for sharing. I have a canvas 36x48 inches. How much more paint do you think I need? Do I add more soap too?
Hi! I think if you multiply the amounts shown in the video by 12 you should have enough to cover a large 36 x 48 canvas. The canvas used in the video is a 9x12---close to a square foot. Since you have about 12 square feet to cover on your canvas, you would need about 12 times the amount of Floetrol & fluid acrylic. And just a few more drops of dish liquid. You may also want to place a sheet of heavy cardboard under your canvas before you start pouring (and additionally place books or other things under the cardboard)---- this will help support the surface of the canvas, keep it level, and prevent the canvas from sagging in the middle from the weight of the paint when you pour. I hope your painting turns out really well!!
@@artucreate3303 Thank you very much for your response. I really appreciate it.
So cute!
Thank you so much!! :)
Good morning love your art can I use acrylic paint an what would be the ratio? You are so good at what you do. Thanks Terri 😊
Hi Terri! Yes, you can definitely use acrylic paint for this. You may need to experiment a little with the ratio-------the ratio of water to paint will vary depending upon how thick your acrylic paint is. If you are using acrylic craft paint or fluid acrylic (which is often fairly liquid and pourable) you would need to add less water than if you are using a tube of really thick acrylic (like Liquitex Heavy Body acrylic, which has the consistency of toothpaste). The mix of your paint and water should be a little thicker than milk---more like "half and half" that you might pour into your coffee----but not as thick as heavy cream. That way the paint will spread easily when you blow it with the dryer. Hope this helps!! :)
