You can get Cherry Bombs that have angled ends that compensate for an offset muffler 🍒 💣

I've just experienced this very issue with my 1998 4.6. I've watched numerous videos to confirm the best procedures. Yours confirms the proper method. My only suggestion would be to block off the throttle body intake with a rag to prevent any flying metal shards of aluminum getting inside.

I was able to use this tutorial to replace my housing on a 2017 Jeep Cherokee latitude. Replaced the housing with the aluminum. The housing area was filled with so much fluid I had to soak it up with 5-6 towels. Cleaned the area, replaced it with everything in the kit. Started the car up and noticed oil drilling a bit on passenger and driver side but will see what happens tomorrow. Fingers crossed!

How many shims were removed from the axle shaft spider gears? I removed one shim from each side, once I completed my installation the gap was smaller than .145, however the locker still ratchets when the wheels are turned opposite ways.

I left my front resonator on cutting off just before the muffler. I then cut the rear resonator and down pipe off and welded it where the muffler was. Got about the same results, but only cost me $5 for an adapter.

I have a 2WD 96 XJ I bought a 88 front axle dana 30 and a 231 transfer and transmission with the driveshafts will that work?

I have also been down this rabbit hole. Seals and bearings where easy enough to find. The engagement shaft with the cut out was stuffed where the cover seal would sit. Thankfully I am a toolmaker so made a new one. Brought a new motor for it as the original was a chunk of rust. Gears and worm drive was in really good condition. Great winch if you use Dyneema rope as crimping or kinking wont happen. The only down side is mounting the winch as it has to be custom. All modern low mount and high mount winches have a standard bolt pattern.

Its been awhile now how is that wire and winch working out I'm about to do this project but confused on the wire gauge.

Nice overview! It's pretty encouraging hearing the broad strokes of what's involved. There aren't a lot vids on Cherokee 4x4 conversions. I guess the XJs are getting rare enough for it to be worth converting.... I have a 2wd 01 WJ I'm hoping to do a similar swap, probably to Select-Trac. I know it's probably not worth while on a WJ, but the truck was left to me by my brother passed so it's got a lot of sentimental value.

Nice job. I saved your video for future reference. I am looking for the most lower gasket on my engine leaking some coolant and I see some bubbling in the far back not 100% sure what that gasket/seal is even called.

Can you still use the remote?

I got them a month ago. Drove many miles with them on. They vibrate/shake a little. But they work great. Now that I put the doors back on, I feel like I see less with the original mirrors. They look good. Only work as horizontal. NO vertical on the passenger side.

Trouble with Water getting in?

Are any other year libertys compatible would you know? My local yard has an 04 liberty, no 05's

Tip: I loosen oil filter cap first without removing and also pull out dipstick a little before draining the oil. This helps the oil to drain better.

The only thing from a fabrication standpoint you should do differently, is to not tighten the nuts before you weld them. It makes the threads warp during welding. Just ever so slightly snug them to prevent that. Looks awesome though!
