I'd been doing this work since 1994 up to 2018 in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and having a certificate of LV, MV, HV, and Extra High Voltage certificate 230kv Sud Kabel and 380 kv Nexans cable. How I wish to do again this work in my own country Philippines.
That joint should last hundreds of years.

All well and good jointing indoor. Try all that when there are pipes ducts and crap in the hole you’re working in. All that room and the cables are not straight and the joint is like a banana.

Strip the cable sheat with a handsaw and carpet knife? Not really professional....
The carpet knife is known as a skinning knife for stripping wire insulation. The handsaw is ok as long as you don't go crazy on the copper jacket and knick the semi conductor underneath the copper sheilding.
