Great video. Very clear and easy to understand. Fixed my t595
how much oil did it take?, just about to change mine (Clarke Boxer 55 50 ltr V Twin...similar..I guess a 1 ltr bottle will do?....Also, do you know if its normal for air to exit from the oil "dip-stick" tube ?...(dont know why they call it that as I have sight glass like yours)..mine has always let air out this tube untill pressure builds up a bit...Cheers and TIA
I don't remember exactly but I would think you will get 2 or 3 changes from 1L of oil. My dip stick tube has a breather on it, I expect it's because the pistons could cause a change in volume so pressure or a vacuum in the crank case. I don't know how much air comes out of mine however as it's too loud (hindsight I wish I splashed out for a Belt drive like the Boxer!). Good luck with the change !
@@edutainment5431 Great thank..ill get oil today, did not want to buy 5 ltr if not necessary, it doesnt say on web site / handbook / on equipment
Cuales son las medidas de la llave en C que mi moto no la trae🙏🏼
Thank you. That was just the info I needed! Do these compressors have an air filter that requires changing? Mine is SGS just like yours.
They do, quite basic ones and easy to maintain. Will get a video done at some point
That’s not a spanner either it’s a open end wrench
In the UK we call wrenches spanners (and a 'box wrench' is a 'ring spanner'). Think what you call a spanner, I would call either an adjustable spanner, a shifter, or a nut rounding device.
You need to tighten that chain bad bro get that spanner out
Yeah chain does a look bit loose there, the spec states a surprising amount of slack, 35-40mm which feels a bit sloppy
Just do the filter up hand tight brother, don't use the tool
Yeah, I was being lazy as its hard to grip, definitely don't want to overtightened onto the o ring
Thank you ! Nice vidéo 🙏👍
Professional job 💪🤘
hi, A question for you: how much oil did you put in total including the oil in the filter?
Hello, its 3-3.5L of oil needed, but I would only use this as a rough guide for purchasing bottles, and do it by the dipstick, easy to top up but a pain to remove if you overfill!
Grazie
So i have a 1050 triple 2006 and it was in garage for the winter. Now I tried to start, I can see my head lights turning on and speedometer turns on but the electric start doesn't start. What is the issue and how to charge the battery I have in the bike. I don't have any fancy instruments like multimeter or that optimate and don't want to spend any money on those. i just want to ride and keep my battery charged.
No worries I figured out thanks
You could try to jump start it then ride until it's charged, see if it holds ? Need jumper cables and a doner car.
@@edutainment5431 thanks so much
If you get oil on the floor cat litter is really great at absorbing the oil, saves you using degreaser and other cleaning products. You can re-use it too until its not as effective.
Nice tip thanks
Great video mate.
Cheers glad you enjoyed
Have you checked the possibility of installing ABS in a motorcycle, I wonder if it is possible?
I haven't, shooting from the hip I expect it's possible buy expensive and difficult, as modern systems use loads of sensors in addition to wheel speed I think. I have never had an issue without it,though I am not the quickest rider. I have locked up the rear and soon learned my lesson. The front has a lot of grip and braking ability, and I get good feel from it, so never locked up. What bike do you have and do you think you need the ABS?
I've had 3 new batteries on my Triple since it was new 5 years ago. I didn't know what to blame, but now I know they just don't last. Optimate or no Optimate.
Cheers, it's not just me then. Will have to plan in a £50 replacement every 2 or 3 years! Maybe they need to be cycled more than an optimate does, but that would involve cold and dangerous winter riding!
thank you for the video - I found it informative and made from an objective approach. Much appreciated.
Brilliant thanks, good video 👍
Thanks, glad you enjoyed
Hello 👋 What is the brand of the exhaust please Fit perfect on the speed 👍🏽
Hello, this was from SP Engineering, a lot lighter than the standard cans, and sound a lot better. They come with dB killers, with these they are ideal volume (louder than sock), with them removed they are very loud, so only for when you feel unsociable.
is this better than the garmin 840
I used to have a Garmin 800 for years until it broke, then got the Wahoo Bolt V2. On paper the Garmin is better, more features, better screen, battery etc. Personally, I prefer Wahoo due to the layout, operation, navigation, and reliability. You may have different needs so worth checking the features
Be interested to know what people's experience is with the 1050 reliability? Chum of mine bought an (used) ST with the 1050 lump - sprag clutch died quite quickly after buying. So it seems Triumph hadn't sorted out the sprag problem the 955 engine was known for; there's a vid on this platform showing how to do it without splitting the cases...
Wonder if Triumph were using up the old stock they had from the 955, in some of the 1050 units (save brass?). Looking up the parts numbers could shed some light. Wouldn't necessarily put me off buying one - these are great looking, pretty quick bikes, I just think it's a shame Triumph weren't on top of this, once they knew there was a problem with the part. It would have been much better PR, of they'd re-designed the part and done a recall. Optimate/strong battery - goes a long way to avoiding. But it should have been dealt with properly. Can't have been nice for buyers, when these models were still strong money, if theirs broke
Hello, not sure mine has been reliable so far, the main issue has been the suspension which seized up, and I had to replace the bearings. Its due a lubrication soon so will make a vid. I have needed two new batteries in mine, even when kept on an optimate, not sure whats going on there...
Nice video on how to change oil in an oiled air compressor! I didn't know that the small round oil level window was also the air compressor's drain plug as well. Although air compressors are nothing more than fancy air pumps, there is no reason why air compressor oil should not last easily 5~8 years between oil changes. As well, one can also use 5W30 or 10W30 synthetic engine oil as well as engine oils are much better engineered and designed at absorbing microscopic particles, moisture, and contaminants as there are no oil filters in an air compressor engine. Air compressor manufacturers should have designed their oiled air compressors with a small oil filter to help filter the air compressor's oil. At least this would make oiled air compressor oil changes a necessity every few years. It's not a big deal though since most oil air compressors are stationary workshop tools and are also set up in a clean shop environments. Here's the link to a company that actually build's air compressors and they too suggest using synthetic motor oil in their air compressors: www.ceccato.com/en-international/updates/what-is-the-oil-for-air-compressor
Great review. Thank you.
Mate, try doing an oil charge on a KTM Superduke, a right pain in the ars!! Good videos! Thanks 😊
Haha never tried, but the effort must be worth it for such a beast of a bike! Cheers
I'm 12 stone what size should I get
Hard to say, they run small. I am a Large and slightly lighter, so you are probably an XL unless very tall large chest in which case maybe 2XL
I liked watching due to the fact it wasn’t like most are pre done or undone. This was as it is 👍
Lovely ☕️
Does this lower the seat height?
No this won't affect that, its routine maintenance to keep drivetrain reliable. To adjust seat height (unless can find a less padded seat) generally you would have to adjust suspension, but need caution as changing the geometry affects handling and potentially safety.
I do my speedy also where I can, the only thing I do to perhaps help is, before dropping the oil, tie the clutch lever back to separate the plates. It’s not a must, just something I do. Best to get as much out as possible in my opinion. Well explained, great video👍
Thanks Kev, that's a great tip never thought of it before, will do that next time i change my oil 👍
Top Tip 😊
tip top tippy never ever thought of that one !!!
Another tip before you fit the oil filter on a speedy is refit the sump plug then top up with oil just enough before the oil spills out the fit the oil filter this prevents air locks and even worse engine seizures ....
Why you on your hands and knees 😂😂😂😂😂
Heavy unit to lift onto workbench 😅
He always drains his tank on his hands and knees in the workshop.
Nice video! I'm looking to do the same on my Sprint ST 1050 and been having a hell of a time trying to find a rear single swing arm stand. What is the stand you are using?
Hello, thanks! I use an Abba stand, its been great, very solid and quick. You can take the whole swingarm off with a foot peg adapter as well (the normal adapter goes into the swingarm pivot)
Changing the calliper seals was massive for me. The front wheel would spin maybe 3/4 of a turn before. Now it spins freely until I apply the brakes. That was on a 15 y/o R6. I doubt the seals had ever been changed
Nice job, cannot be careful enough with brake performance on motorbikes 👍
Really useful video. Not quite idiot proof (what is?) but very much by the numbers with handy insights into the right oil and, in particular, ensuring you get the level exactly right. Too much oil can really do damage not only to the engine but also to the catalytic converter.
Cheers Jeremy, yes can never quite cover everything, but let me know if you have any suggestions, I am pretty new to this 👍
i love your videos about the speed triple
Haynes manual states 35-40mm, but the Triumph owners handbook states 40-50mm? Mostly on the forums they state 35-40mm too? So which is correct?
Hello, my Haynes says 35-40 up to VIN461331 and 21-30mm for above. My service manual agrees with 35-40, maybe 40 to 50 is a later model or misprint?
Ed - intersting video . What make of valve did you end up using? I have a similar problem with my air tools. Thanks.
Hello Paul, i use Pegler quarter turn valves usually, and PCL XF quick couplings. My gauges arent so great, so no good recommendations for that, I just have cheapos.
Thanks for your efforts. I need only that retaining spring for the front brake of my tiger 1050 sport (2014). How can I find this part ?
Triumph dealer or a parts shop would have it (or ebay if you are lucky). In the UK Fowlers are pretty good and have drawings. Looks like part number T2020325 to me (but double check!)
Good one. Thks.
Hi, could i ask you which is your leg inseam? Thx
Hello, not quite sure how to measure, but I wear 34" length jeans, so I guess thereabouts? The seat has a fair bit of travel on it
Great post! Thanks mate.
Great video! 👍👍
Worth a like that. Thank you
Nice brake upgrade series! I own a 2006 one. I’ve had sticky brakes in the past and replaces the piston seals. The pistons themselves looked in good shape. But I do have to clean the pistons every year. I’m curious, with the front wheel of the ground, how many spins does it get? Before my piston seal change it would stop instantly, you could also hear and feel it dragging on the disc. Now it’s much better, you can still hear it dragging, but it feels more freely. I am curious because I’m wondering if the piston upgrade would be an option for me. Anyway, thanks for the informative videos and keep up the good work!
Hi Terry, I can sometimes hear my front brakes rub a little even with new pistons, especially if its not been ridden in a while and there is a bit of corrosion, but they got better once bedded in. Mine don't get hot when just riding on the flat so I don't worry - a new master cylinder might help to retract them more maybe; personally if happy with performance and no heating issues I would just ride them 👍 Cheers, Ed
Do by chance have a part number for the radial master cylinder you used?
@@pjbaker6720 hi PJ, I have not upgraded my master cylinder, it likely be a future job for me, as I expect there will be some good results from it, HEL do some really nice looking ones but not cheap!
Thought Speed triple us Castrol power 1 10w40 semi synthetic 🤔 ps ensure when removing old filter you remove old rubber seal as well 👍 nut is for removal only 👏
Hi Charlie, Castrol do a semi and a fully synth 'race' version. They don't provide any specific guidance on their website for my model, but the later 1050s recommend fully synth, Castrol 1 Racing 4T as well as confirming either is fine as long as they meet certain standards.
When you say remove rubber seal, is that the one built into the filter? Mine has always stayed put when i remove it
@@edutainment5431 worth checking old seal can stay in place 👍
@@edutainment5431 tough choice considering choices I went for Motul 5100 10w40 semi synthetic from sportsbike shop way above standard any dealer would use £34.96 for 5 litres happy days 👍
Excellent video 👍🏻
Any improvement over the stainless pistons?
Hi Michael, there is an improvement after the job. Its hard to know how it would compare if i just cleaned up the existing with a new seal kit, but as they were pitted I suspect the new coated types are notably better.
What would happen if I wanted to drain from the upper hole? I can't open the lower one to drain it's look like a sealed one, the compressor is new and the dealer have no idea how to drain the oil
Hello, what brand is it? Draining from top would be difficult, might be able to syphon with a tube. Could just loosen the casing?
The brand name
Use a cheap hand pump from a bottle of shampoo or hand sanitizer to extract the old air compressor oil.
Thanks for that. Had to take the exhaust off on my 955i but basically the same process.
Nice work, Triumph aren't the best at designing for maintenance!
Nice clip, AMAZING construction really
Thanks KL, hope it helps

Draper 50L looks the same
Yes i think that is another rebranded version. I would go with the cheapest, or whatever offers warranty. The manifold broke on mine, so I had to repair. Video to follow.
