We say goodbye to #Paphos as we head back home to the UK
We snuck in a winter break in Paphos Cyprus, it’s January and weather has been fabulous, 18 to 20 degrees in the daytime down to around 15 in an evening, it can be a bit chilly with the wind blowing in the evening but it’s been wonderful.
We can recommend a trip here this time of year, not all restaurants and bars are open but there are enough to choose from and for those that don’t like the heat it’s the perfect time to visit.

Well we have left the cold UK behind and come on a short break to Paphos Cyprus, the weather here is gorgeous and it’s T shirt weather, we are staying at our go to hotel, Alexander The Great Beach Hotel, the staff here are wonderful and we know them all so well. Penrhyndeudraeth a little bit of practice and we will be able to pronounce it properly!

We take a drive from Penrhyndeudraeth, with a bit of help from google we found out how to pronounce the name of the town, towards Garreg Llanfrothen and into Snowdonia, now known as Eryri, the time of year produces wonderful colours on the trees and bushes which adds to the beauty of the trip.
We’re back in Wales and heading to Trawsfynydd on the A4212 with beautiful views, if it was sunny!

I’m sure the sun always knows which direction we are heading and decides it’s going to hide behind the clouds, the A4212 to Trawsfynydd is a spectacular drive on a sunny day but once again the sun plays hardball, this road joins the A470 at Trawsfynydd and Ness puts me right on how to pronounce the name of the village, hopefully she has it right but I’m sure if not someone will put us right, ou...

Its looking so good! Shame you can't make the opening, we will actually be flying in on the same day I subscribed to M&M 3 years ago! Still can't get used to seeing Mr Paul without his hat and sunglasses 🤣
@@SallyBriars94 Coming on nicely Sally, although I think Paul may need to have a few late nights to get it finished on time, but whatever he will have it open on the 15th, it is a shame we can’t be there as we would love to be there to meet all our friends and make new ones xx ❤️😊
@NessandAndy hope everything gets done for the 15th, I'm sure myself and Matt can lend a hand if need be the few days we're there before the opening, I'm sure we will see each other again next year, we won't make it this summer like we thought 😕 xx

@@rjkka7260 No problem in the Range Rover, plenty wide enough 😉 and the Rangy is always filled with fuel before any journey, don’t have to worry about nearest filling station then 😊

Penrhyndeudraeth is a tricky one to pronounce. We know this place very well. There is a lovely tower not far from Penrhyndeudraeth. Great video. Matt & Bec ❤😊
Hi, yes it is a tricky one, google is a great help and we have been practising for next time were out that way, not been to the tower although we have been to Portmeirion several times, we are also booked in there for a weekend in May, have a great day ❤😊 Andy
Driven this road countless times 1969 to 2022 on our way from Nottinghamshire to Penrhyndeudraeth and Porthmadog in all seasons. Sadly age has put an end to our jaunts but grand memories of wonderful times……..!
@@peterhunt2723 It’s a road I know very well too Peter, it was the way dad used to take us to Black Rock Sands in the 1960’s, I can still remember the trip as I fell in love with the scenery on the way, maybe that’s why I love Wales so much and now Ness has the same bug, at least watching our trips it brings memories back for you Peter as you can no longer travel, we shall always making trips into Wales in between our other adventures 😊 Andy
Black Rock Sands…….spent some super days there. We’ve travelled around UK a fair bit over more than 50 years but that east/west journey, using minor roads, has always been our favourite and so much of it remains little changed. We have also been lucky in that an old friend went to live in Penrhyndeudraeth in 2010 so for 12 years we we could go and stay very regularly. Please keep up the trips, you entertain us wonderfully?

@@NessandAndy Have you ever thought about driving from Hay-on-Wye down to Abergaveny. and the home run is easy for you as the road to Hereford is first rate A-class. My grandparents were married at Cludock Church and lived at Longtown till 1934. My grandmother's father kept the pub Ain Longton till the 1920s. My Uncle George [born 1920] used to walk cattle from Longtown to Hay and the other way round as small child wish just a dog for help. Hard to imagine that nowadays! It is a lovely picturesque part of the world. Not much traffic along there even now. Best wishes from George

It used to be Llan-wrth-y-rhyd - Wells church by the ford with a Wells. It’s been shortened to Llanwrtyd Wells, there is a Sulpher Wells there which is supposed to be very good for you. - my home. Llandrindod Wells has a Chalybeate Well. Llanwrtyd still has a School in the village. There used to be 2 butchers, a Baker, A Shoe maker/repairer, lots of pubs, a stables for trecking, and many farms. A lot of people’s surname was Jones so people would be described by the Farm or Jobs e.g. Jones the Butcher or Jones the milk, Jones Spite Inn.
Morning Mari, some very useful information there thanks, like a lot of places including our own village of Hinstock there used to be lots all those little businesses, we used to have a butcher and a baker in the village small as it was, even 3 pubs but luckily we still have one that has survived, have a good day 😊 Andy

Used to go there in the 80s with my dads motorbike club, stayed on higher landings farm, love the place, fond memories of the old man , visit every 12months and raise a pint to him in the pub , thanks for the tour

Hi, I used to play football for Montgomery fc If you went to Welshpool through Forden it eventually takes you past the airfield,you then come to a roundabout with Newtown you would turn left or right for Welshpool At that roundabout you can see a row of cottage’s we were brought up in number 6 Sarny-Bryn-Caled also known as Coed y Dinas cottages

Thank you for a lovely video. My grandmother was born in Welshpool in 1896, and married my grandfather in 1920 in Longtown. The moved to Bridge Sollars in 1935, and lived there before moving to Hereford in 1967 when they retired from farming. I remember when things were as quiet as this everywhere. Sadly the whole world has got into a rush. Best wishes from George

@@NessandAndy I live a mile from Bromyard, and I love it. Bishops Castle is probably a larger place, but Bromyard is now officially classed as a village, brcause the livestock market is now the Coop car park. When I was a kid, it was definitely a Market Town. I have come back to my local town, ready to retire with my little Parredale Terrier! There are some lovely Lace makers in the Troodos mountains. A great place to escape the heat in the middle of summer. So cool, we even needed a duvet on the bed, even though it was over hundred degrees on the coast. 🙂
One of our favourite places to visit is Omodos, they have some wonderful craft shops there including Lace Makers, we missed to get to the village in 2024 but i'm sure we will be back there next year as we have 3 more holidays booked for 2025 in Cyprus 😊 Andy
I love Cyprus. Had several holidays there before it got too commercial. Great time of year to visit. Not too hot. 🥵👍
@@Steve-Cross Hi Steve, we love Cyprus and have been going since 2009, have got lots of friends over there and already have 3 holidays booked over there for 2025, but not during the hot season made the mistake of going there once when it was hot for a week, we nearly melted 🤣🥵 Andy

I live a ten minutes drive from the peacock the food is lovely especially the Sunday roast , there's so many nice places in the Derbyshire dales and your not to far from the peak district. You should visit Baslow edge and Monsal head next time you're local 👍🏻
