Hazrat Ali Ki Sakhawat Quran Me / Hazrat Ali Murtaza's Spending in the Way of Allah
Hazrat Ali Murtaza's Spending in the Way of Allah
Hazrat Ali ibn Abi Talib (RA), also known as Murtaza, holds an esteemed position in Islamic history as the fourth Caliph of Islam, the cousin, and son-in-law of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). Renowned for his wisdom, courage, and piety, Hazrat Ali’s life was a perfect embodiment of selflessness and devotion to Allah. One of the most remarkable aspects of his character was his generosity and spending in the way of Allah (fi sabilillah).
Hazrat Ali’s acts of charity were not limited to mere financial donations; they reflected the true essence of giving-sincerity, humility, and concern for the well-being of others. Despite his own modest lifestyle, he consistently prioritized the needs of the poor, orphans, widows, and travelers. His generosity was not driven by wealth, for he lived a simple life, often wearing patched clothes and consuming basic food. Rather, his heart was rich with faith, compassion, and a deep sense of responsibility towards humanity.
One of the most inspiring examples of his charity is mentioned in Surah Al-Insan (76:8-9), where Allah praises those who give food to the needy solely for His sake:
"And they give food in spite of love for it to the needy, the orphan, and the captive, [saying], 'We feed you only for the countenance of Allah. We wish not from you reward or gratitude.'"
This verse is widely believed to refer to Hazrat Ali, Hazrat Fatimah (RA), and their family, who fasted for three consecutive days and gave their only meals to the poor, despite their own hunger.
Hazrat Ali’s spending was not just about material wealth; he also dedicated his time, knowledge, and efforts in the service of Islam. He encouraged others to give with sincerity, teaching that true charity is done quietly, without seeking praise. His profound statement reflects this:
"The best charity is to satisfy a hungry person. Do not wait for a needy person to beg you for help, for the one who asks has already suffered great pain."
In conclusion, Hazrat Ali Murtaza’s spending in the way of Allah serves as a timeless lesson for all believers. His life teaches us that the value of charity lies not in its amount but in the purity of intention behind it. Whether through wealth, knowledge, or acts of kindness, true believers should strive to give selflessly, seeking only the pleasure of Allah.
