    for the people who don't know much on this. Exhaust wrap is meant to keep and hold heat in the exhaust header so it can flow much faster out the muffler. So this wrap is meant to hold heat in. Yes it will stop the intake from getting hot as fast because its insulated but once it gets hot it will have any way of cooling down, since the heat will be trapped inside. In other words don't do this use gold reflective tape or make a heat shield for your intake air filter or get a cold air intake.

    • @jeffa.8976
      @jeffa.8976 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Reflective tape reflects IR but header tape is like a Thermos or house insulation, It can keep things cold or hot. Basically it helps lesser the change of temperature of the substance being insulated weather it's hot or cold. Header tape will help lessen the effects of a hot engine bay on cold air intake. The same way a thermos will keep my drink cold or keep it hot

    This is a good solution to heat soak if you already have a pretty well sealed hest shield. I would worry about shielding the pod instead of wrapping the pipe, as that pod is really close to the engine. This stuff does work for intakes (though the shiny side should be pointed away from the intake pipe. For turbo people, wrap your header/exhaust manifold instead. You'll get more boost and lower intake temps. Turbo blankets are smart too.

    Yes you can use header wrap because it made out of fiberglass with titanium coating, same as most Mercedes v6 cold air intake they use flexible fiberglass hose... The thing is you cannot wrap it too thick because it will defeat the purpose and it will absorbing and store the heat within the layers, the key is wrap one layer and reduce overlap.

    So I got a K&N Intake for my 2017 Dodge Challenger SXT Plus and the Intake Pipe is Fiberglass Piping. My engine bay is overall hot. My car tells me my Intake temperature and on Idle it gives me up too 174°F when I drove in Manhattan for the first time and it thus lowered my milage at Full Tank 360mi to less than 250mi just a little under FULL...This happened because I was mostly stuck in high congested roads. When I started driving in 90° weather I got 88°F-90°F an my true intake temperature readings going average 55mph on the highway. I am going to use this same heat wrap to see if it works by just letting my car idle and seeing if my temperature readings will go over 130°F AFTER a drive and time how long it will take to reach higher temperatures. I have a feeling it wouldn't go up as quickly like from 90° straight to 120° sitting at a red light for 1 minute after I wrap it. I will comment my thoughts since no one actually is giving out actual temperature readings. At least it could serve as a baseline or something. I also have a roll of reflective tape where I could try and end up wrapping part of the exhaust manifold pipes with the cloth wrap...yet 🤔

    Titanium heat wrap absorbs radiated heat so with headers it would contain the heat within the headers. So effectively you are preventing hot air from being radiated out of your intake which would increase intake temperatures. You are better off using reflective tape to keep hot engine bay temps from increasing your intake temps.

    • @Matt-qh8lj
      @Matt-qh8lj 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Header wrap on the intake tube prevents the heat from the radiator from being absorbed by the aluminum causing the air inside to absorb the heat thus increasing intake temps...

    • @bronsonhaywood5642
      @bronsonhaywood5642 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Matt-qh8lj that too, either way header wrap is bad for intake, U should either powder coat or use reflective tape hence why so many intakes are polished aluminium

    • @richarcm
      @richarcm ปีที่แล้ว

      Header wrap slows down the transmission of heat. The air inside of air intakes is always going to be cooler than the ambient air under the hood. I’m not sure where you would have to be driving that the air being sucked into the filter is going to be WARMER than the air surrounding the engine trapped underneath of that hood.
