Hiking California and Nevada.... one step at a time
Ep 192 Valley View Preserve #ojai #California #Hike #hills
The Valley View Preserve’s rugged foothills provides one of Ojai’s most scenic backdrops. Situated between the Los Padres National Forest and downtown Ojai, this preserve encompasses 195 acres of land and offers numerous hiking trails. The exposed southern slopes of the preserve are covered in chaparral, while pockets of ferns and lichen covered rocks can be found in shaded wooded areas. Steep climbs up John’s Fox Canyon and Luci’s Trails provide breathtaking views of the valley and there’s ample opportunity to see wildlife and wildflowers blooming in the spring.

Beautiful trail and views thanks for sharing ❤
Nice little video. I’m hiking this one tomorrow. Wanted to see if it was as easy as I remembered when I hiked it 17 years ago.
Gorgeous!
How long does the AtB pass allow one to park at this location?
I remember playing Bingo with your Mum at Ditchingham village hall.
Nice hike and views 👍🙂
champion
Good video! I like that Scheibe Falke motorglider 😊 I have flown by that for 5 years. A reliable, pilot-friendly plane!
Enjoyed👍
How long is the walk to the beach ? Thank you
How long is the hike from the park to the fire station ? I did it long time ago and I just got into shape and would love to do it again. Thanks
Depends on the difficulty of the path you take. The longest path is the large paved path, and that's around 6 miles of walking a decently low gradient. There are tough shortcuts you can take at many points however. There are also several shorter stops along the way which make for a great hike. I only ever go all the way to Camp 9 on a bike.
And this is why I love L.A.! so much nature surrounding us. Thanks for sharing :)
The trail and the surroundings are simply perfect for hiking. Bravo my friend
Eu vou aí brevemente
Always interesting young Rob.
Great jaunt. Always wondered what I was looking at from the other side of the valley thanks!
Nice one thanks for having us along
Thank you 😊
True legends in their own minds !! 🫡
Attended the Candlelight Vigil in Uniform 26 years ago too. Had to raise my voice on the underground as some of those armed chaps & chappesses didn't understand "Move down the coach please. Plenty more room inside" when said in a normal voice. They did all shift when I used the Squaddie Parade Ground voice.
Eileen and I (I was in uniform) were there 26 years ago.
Bonus points for your soundtrack!
Mogollon is apparently pronounced "mugyown" by the locals.
One response Nige… Happisburgh 😂
@@ukroblhikesandwalks146 As a life long "local" the best way to remember how to say it is the LL is a Y sound, "moh-g uh- yohn" but we knew what you meant. We have our friends coming in from Ipswitch England in October and we will be hiking this one as well. Every time they come across the pond we have to teach them how to pronounce words over here, it is a lot of fun. Like our Mexican food, they always want to say tortilla like, "tor-till-a" but its "tor-tee-a" and we always have a laugh. I digress, can you tell me how long the hike was up and back?
@@BrianAz ha I came from close to Ipswich!
I'm going to Sedona this weekend, I was wondering about the parking for this hike?
Im afraid all parking in Sedona is hit and miss. ( there are more cars than spaces, and the lots are VERY clear where you can park, and where you can’t!) As all suggest - the earlier the better!
beautiful. going there in May for the first time
Great scenery my friend, gorgeous views!
That mud looked a bit dry...
Very cool! I probably wouldn't look down!
Bonjour nous avons visité Death Valley février 2023 ,Magnifique !!!
Merci!
Love the drone shots but they are strictly prohibited in this area.
You are correct, I have a DJI mini, and the software (usually) lets me know if it is restricted airspace. it didn't in this case, lesson learned for next time. Where I live in Vegas - it doesn't even allow me to take off as I'm on the LAS approach
Incredible! I've been there numerous times and have never seen it with water. Very nice.
Simply stunning scenery my friend, what a brilliant views!
Yo it’s morph! I think Morph and Sackboy would be good friends. :)
Plenty of switchbacks, eh? Great views at the top, though, and I enjoyed how you identified the surrounding points of interest (peaks, lakes, etc.) 👍
When you speed the film up it’s disturbing.
Well done!
Where is Bono?
Beer 'o' Clock justifies a beer!
Good job 👍
Beautifully captured. Grateful if you could share the trail you took? Also a mention of the beautiful hotel you stayed at?

What day was this recorded?
Sunol area is very beautiful
Spectacular scenery my friend, shots are just amazing!
i watched too many fallout new vegas short and now the algorithm thinks im interested in las vegas helpe
Woah cool
Good video! Dublin Hills Trail is a good hiking work-out because of the last half-mile or so before reaching the pylons. Its sweaty getting up there, but the view at the top is worth it. I'm a tad envious of your ability to calmly stroll past the cows without altering course. I'm a fraidy-cat around cows and give them a very wide berth, even though I know from the neck up that I really don't have to.
Good video! I live in San Ramon, and all of us local hikers royally appreciate Los Trampas. Its the only hilly trail in the area whose main trail is paved. This winter (2022-'23), we've had a couple months of off-and-on rain, resulting in loooong stretches where the other local trails (Dougherty Valley, Tassajara Ridge, Dublin Hills, etc) were simply too muddy to hike for any fun. During that time, Los Trampas had plenty of foot traffic because it was the only one that could give us our hiking fix during that rainy season.
how do you get there?
It’s in the Calico Basin parking lot, just before the scenic drive at Red Rock
Cool video. Well done.
Thank you very much!
