this guy is always plagued by background noises in his presentations sound systems
Brilliant presentation.
❤ thanks for sharing so much pure and practical wisdom🙏🏾
This was very useful to understand the concept gonna fail economics trying to explain why it is better to use system thinking
Thank you for posting these videos.
Brilliant!
Fucking gold!
I can’t be the only one who’s watched this multiple times. Each time I listen I find a new level unlocked. 😊
Brilliant lecture ,thank you .But the I Ching is not a book on Zen Buddhism and thus the link with god is factuless ,tho superstition and Chinese culture plus there population explains the popularity .Mike
If only the pen wouldn’t make that noise. 😦
Brilhante apresentação
This man did fifty percent of my lecture before I was born.... I have a low voltage company, and I am grateful for a great deal of clarity provided by Russell. Thank you.
Outstanding!
Why is there no description? What year is this?
🎯 Key Takeaways for quick navigation: 02:06 🧠 *Information, knowledge, and understanding are distinct concepts crucial in education. Understanding, derived from explanations, answers "why" questions and is the most valuable yet least emphasized.* 05:11 🔄 *We're transitioning from one historical era to another, marked by shifts in worldview and cultural cohesiveness, known as a "change of age."* 10:13 ⚛️ *The Machine Age, characterized by a belief in the complete understandability of the universe and reductionism, saw everything as reducible to indivisible parts and explained phenomena solely through cause-and-effect relationships.* 23:10 ⏰ *Newtonian worldview perceived the world as a hermetically sealed clock, a self-contained entity created by God to do His work, influencing the development of the Industrial Revolution and mechanization.* 25:51 🛠️ *Mechanization involves breaking work into simple tasks (work elements) that can be mechanized efficiently.* 27:41 🧠 *Dilemmas arisewhen problems cannot be solved within existing worldviews, necessitating a shift in perspective.* 32:50 🔄 *Systems consist of interconnected elements, where each element affects the behavior of the whole.* 39:43 🛠️ *Analyzing systems by breaking them apart leads to loss of essential properties, necessitating synthetic thinking for understanding.* 47:40 🌐 *Systems thinking combines analysis and synthesis to understand complex environments, leading to the Systems Age.* 50:55 📚 *God is viewed as the universe, not as its creator, in the concept of the whole.* 52:19 🌏 *Increasing interest in Eastern religions reflects compatibility with the systemic worldview.* 53:14 🌱 *Science has traditionally treated causality as probabilistic, but Edgar Arthur Singer challenged this notion, arguing for necessary and sufficient causality.* Made with HARPA AI
So much value delivered so well. Pure Gold.
I made an immediate connection with Russell Ackoff the moment I began listening to his logic. It is clear to me in my work. You see, I felt I did not have the authority to agree or disagree with Professor Ackoff so I only shared my model during Client projects. Then I read the post by @imrematajz and felt I had the understanding of the professor’s point of view. I operate a solo security management consulting firm that helps organizations avoid making mistakes that lead to workplace violence. My Violence Interdiction Methodology applies a critical assessment of existing programs, policy and plans to identify contributing factors in dissolving problems as suggested in looking at assumptions and conclusions. I too was blown away when I read the @imremataj post. Thank you both for empowering me. 🙏👍
Great teacher. 😊
I don’t know how no one in the audience had any questions.. I’d be asking understanding why questions, lol. 😊
I agree with most. However, the purpose of life is not growth but improving fitness which increases the potential for survival. Growth increases the potential for chaos and death.
You didn't watch the entire video. Smh
Beautifully informative, I wish more people would lecture like that.
He makes reference to both Mexico and France moving the capital, but I can't find any record of that online.
Absolutely amazing!
Your videos aren't marked with any copyrights, so I was wondering, and since there is no contact information, if I'm allowed to clips parts together as long as I'm referring to you? And out of curiosity, how did you get your hands on those tapes?
That moment you realize sociology is a subfield of automation 😮😊
A big realization
Watching this video in 2023 oct from India. What I sense is that he certainly had a negative bias against India and I didn't like that. Apart from from that these videos are gold.
Other than that the video is great
coming from India yourself, you must admit to being somewhat biased yes? and perhaps you don't know the history of your own country very much.
@@erikpaterson1404 Indians are not like stupid Americans. Every Indian knows their history. Unlike you we have a history of 5000 years. Your history is not more than 500 years😂😂
Does anybody knows when this lecture was given? 80s, 90s?
wow. I clipped his last line: th-cam.com/users/clipUgkxfq7S4V-ML6aVktjiAVYkLG1P1nRs_rPQ?si=32Lp-16DbN4MeXJa

Best lecture ever
👏👏🇨🇳🇨🇳🇨🇳👍👍✌️✌️
WOW, I can't believe I've gone through life without encountering this before. An absolute truckload of gems. Thank you for uploading!
Thank you! This may be the best video in the series yet! All so good, should have a million views.
As a graphic designer, it’s so interesting that there’s a lot to learn about design & creativity from this video. Thanks for sharing 🙏
I am getting goosebumps by just hearing such a treasure . Thnks a ton . Roamed through TH-cam to understand system thinking and you gave me this . Genius
It's my pleasure
@@GeniusOfOutliersThank you so much , where did u find it?
Thank you so much for sharing this lecture series! To me it was an absolute gift! It feels like a cheat code in life. I’ve been studying philosophy(with particular interest in epistemology) for 5-6 years now and I haven’t discovered anything remotely as useful for me as this lecture.
Should be part of syllabus of every school and college!
I totally agree with you, this is epic fkkkkkkking gold right here.
Simple but profound discourse - a must watch for all those who think they think!
amazing storyteller
What an utter and absolute genius. What a blessing to find this for free.
What a treasure, thank you for providing this.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Feels to me that I touched the golden heart of youtube.
You put it perfectly
System = emergent systemic functionality that arose as resultant equlibrium effect due to causal interaction of its parts and their own functionalities. One cannot learn system thinking bcos one must give up his ego in learning but to rather allow truth to transform one's mindset to an objective mindset. Buddha had been imparting premise of objective mindset n the wisdom of system thinking 2500 yrs ago. But not many can be enlightened easily. One may know abt system thinking but difficult to understand.
please open this up
What was the name of factory he mentioned? 9:00
Volvo Kalmar Assembly
Where have these ideas been implemented successfully in the passing decades?
The methodology of dissolving the mess of problems (problematique) works so well, that when I applied it and looked at the final outcome of my own work, I was simply blown away by the clarity and simplicity of the solution. It is almost like an out of body experience. His wisdom lives on!
it really helps to find his books and read them. Page by page. His (humble) knowledge, understanding, and wisdom is key to redesign politics, state and our little worlds.
Amazing
This video is worth it's weight in gold
