    Hey I have the same question but for the 2010 2.5i impreza. Can you modify the intake at all, and would it need a tune? Without a standalone ecu or piggyback?

  • @PouyaLucky

    Great vide thanks for the info. Just bought a 2006 WRX ! car is running like shit from 2 to 3k rpm and shaking and very bad accelaration. Muy Subaru guy said first things first ... Before even looking at your tune to see what it is, revert this back to normal airbox as it just makes more sound and to be honest I think it is a more HOT AIR intake after running OBD check with my friend as the intake temps were much higher than normal baseline. Luckily found used full set and I am waiting for the used parts which I purchase to arrive and we shall see.. K&N Typhoon is the intake btw

    Had my FA20 turbo WRX tuned with basic bolt-ons. We found that changing out the factory airbox to cold air intake didn't really yield any noticeable power increases. I ran with the Process West CAI for about 6 months, but I found the intake sound became tiresome. I put the stock air box back on, had it re-tuned, and the power output was virtually unchanged. Same with the catback exhaust actually. The main components that impacted the tune (in terms of making power) were the intercooler and the J pipe/high flow cat. Over 200kw, there could be more power to be made using an aftermarket intake systems. But under that, I think its mostly for noise and looks.

      @Silent_Shadow ปีที่แล้ว

      Talking power...Yes, I totally agree with you. But one major difference I've noticed is throttle response. Coming on and off the throttle is more responsive/aggressive with an aftermarket intake.

      @@Silent_ShadowTHIS! I noticed that soon as I put a stock one on. It makes sense because it's a longer distance and smaller diameter with the stock intake, thought I do predict the power delivery will be smoother

    G'day guys , 2021 wrx sti , I have spent the last 3 months researching on how I want to go about upping the power , was looking at the iag complete engine builds , cosworth , deshele and the list goes on , I have around 25k to spend and was wondering what kind of whp I could get and what road I could go down to achieve that , once this build is finished I'm going to sit on it for a couple of years and eventually I want to build a 800 whp beast with a sequential gear box , I am not far from Ballarat so you guys aren't far away.... your help would be greatly appreciated

      i put one on mine without a tune, and only thing i noticed was my turbos wastegate had a ticking noise at low rpm because the vaccuum pressures were off, which is why the tuner will tune the 3 port to command the vaccum for the specific boost levels desired

    Very good information , but I think the stock box works just as well as any other. Main thing is not just getting in cooler air but cleaner as well and with the stock box a good aftermarket filter intake pipe to the turbo changed will do .Once the intake hole to the box is not located in a area that it in pulling in heat good point to the box it is already located at a point where no major heat source is produced. Just my point of view cause I run it with no heat pull problems only if we have a heat wave in the UK .

    Somebody please help!! Lol do I need a tube connected to the air cleaner element on my 99 Subaru Impreza outback sport 2.2 l? Because at first I thought my air element cleaner was missing, but it's not. The black part to the left of the air cleaner, where the tube should be connected to it with the black box. Well, that is missing, and I swear ever since that has not been there my car has been acting funny. but the dealership where I bought the car at said it's not necessary to have and it should not mess up. However, some kid told me that these cars have two filters inside of the, not the oil filter but it has to do with the air element. And I'm trying to Google it and find out the name of that tube that connects to the air cleaner element but I cannot find it. Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you in advance for your time and consideration. That tube piece that he shows! Is that necessary to have? And what does it connect to

    Very good explanation thank you! Got one for my 04 wrx. Tuner requested I get one for my next tune and I got the grimmspeed three port.

  • @hydn79
    @hydn79 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    The grimmspeed MBC has only 2 nipples. From from turbo boost source and one out to wastegate nipple. What happens to the the intake venting? There is no 3rd nipple non MBC and the instructions just said to cap off the intake nipple on the MAF. So is this poor design not to vent to intake? I'm experiencing throttle cut with stock psi car is def more responsive with faster tune but at full throttle sometimes it stutters or cuts power (assuming fuel cut).

  • @bbuildingmarch7060
    @bbuildingmarch7060 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hmm, I don't see much difference between the 2-port and the 3-port. I understand that the positive boost pressure passes through the 3-port before it reaches the wastegate actuator, but with the 2 port, if you create a weak point in the system for the air to be relieved, it excess/more pressure won't be able to build up anyways.

    • @JackoTJK
      @JackoTJK 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Except that if a turbo is running 8psi and you have that 2 port tee open to free air it can still only make about 12psi. ie the tee cant bleed off ENOUGH air. Also a 3 port can stop ALL air getting to the wastegate until a boost target is achieved to decrease spool time
