Morning BIKE and SKI in Oslo - Winter is coming
มุมมอง 503หลายเดือนก่อน
The temperatures in Oslo are dropping below zero and lots of places have sprayed enough artificial snow to make ski tracks in certain areas. I took advantage of this and brought my skis on the bike for a morning group ride before getting a ski session in afterwards at Holmenkollen. Just waiting for some real snow to fall now. The BEST bike ride Mallorca has to offer

I went to Mallorca to enjoy a weekend of riding in the sun and warm weather with Wilhelm and Eirik. An epic route with lots of climbing was set by Eirik including a small deroute to Sa Calobra and Col de Reis. A few days escape from the cold and dark November days in Norway was much needed.
Hi Andreas, great excercise and machine, until a buddy infront of compt falls asleep..haha 🙂
Skiing in the middle of a bike ride!? So sick! Winter rides are just mud and rain here in the UK 😂 Can't wait to see what the rest of the season looks like over there!
Yeah, it's a cool thing to do now that we're in the shoulder season. Snow is on its way, so hopefully we wont deal with mud and rain this winter 😅
Keep up the good vibes, Andreas 🚴🚴
Thank you, I will!
Seems very effortless, keep up the great work
Thank you and you too.

For those icy descents, I use a Black Diamond Whipper head pole, like a small ice axe that screws onto the pole
Surprised you went straight past the Folgefonna glacier, it has a summer ski centre.
@@markthomasson5077 This was in April, so a bit early for skiing there then.
Do you use the App that gives info on tunnels for cyclists. Curiously, created by an English guy.
You Nordmenn really love your tunnels. Only cycled one, over to Bjarkoya from Grytoya. Below the sea. Down at 1:10, back up at 1:9, 3.25k long. Quite an experience. Fortunately they had warning lights for cyclists
@@markthomasson5077 I knew about the tunnels, but had to go through. No app, but checked the national road service website

Why so few folk watching!
Maybe you tell us later in the series, only just found you. Questions. What time of year. No studded tyres, I guess not so good for most of the trip, any issues on the mountain road. Could you use a lower gear. Surprised you don’t use rear panniers, i find that a better weight distribution. I have done bike / ski day trips, I strap my boots where the panniers go. Be good to know your ski and camping kit list.
@@markthomasson5077 This was in late april/ early may 👍🏻
@@markthomasson5077 I tried to put the panniers in the back, but it messed up the distribution. The front got super wobbly. Better to have more weight in the front.
@@markthomasson5077 My boots where inside the front panniers.
@ I have low rider front panniers, which work great. Though for my much shorter day ski / bike trips, not needed. But yes, slightly wobbly! I see you have a big rucksack on top of your rear rack, I guess with a bit of high up weight, which doesn’t help. But then you avoid having to carry two additional panniers. All ways a compromise. You could try strapping your boots to the side of the rear rack, so allowing you to transfer some heavy stuff from the rucksack into the front panniers. It does take a wee while to work out a quick and simple solution to strapping on the boots…took me two seasons…now if I can only recall how I did it! ps, I live near Glencoe Scotland, about three hours cycle to the ‘resort’ about two hours to Glencoe itself, which has some excellent routes, much like Norway…though on a smaller scale.
Det er kjempeflott!
I have cycled camped and ski toured in Norway, great for both, together even better (From Scotland)

Good to see you rocking these slopes man :) Looks like a bit more ice than you were hoping for, but still super cool. :)
Trying to get out there and enjoy the snow in the mountains while it still lasts :) Hopefully the conditions will be better once it gets a bit warmer in the air.
Always big fan of your XC context, especially as a rookie in XC skiing, Your Videos do motivate me to work hard. This year Vasaloppet was a struggle no doubt about that. How would your time have been if you did not train several hours a week and competing in the weekends. Being well prepared did benefit you doing those 90 km to Mora, and overall I do think you did a great job, just remember only 11.000 people completed this year Vasaloppet. Not saying I am looking forward to next year race, but I am looking forward to follow your journey to Vasaloppet 2025, and let’s see if its possible to meet up and race together 😀 Best of Luck Andreas
My last Vasaloppet in 2019 was exactly like this. 7:05 after all the effort of a seeding race in Austria, qualifying for group 3. Perfect conditions until the morning of the race and then 30cm of snow for the first 3-4 hours. Left me with no idea of where I was really at. Decided that the main event wasn’t worth the effort any more and registered for the Nattvasan 2024, which was epic! There are lots of great ski marathons that don’t require a huge effort, but are still extremely rewarding and enjoyable - Finlandia Hiihto, Toblach - Cortina, etc.
The conditions were what they were. Nature leads the dance. Adjust!
Yup, agree. Just couldn’t adjust, but maybe next year.
very well done anyway, it was a tough one. i did a 8.21 which was 30 mins slower than last year, start in row 6, slow climbing up the starting hill, but i picked up 1300 positions from highest point to goal. quite obvious everyone was suffering during these conditions. next year definitely getting some advice and a few skis setup for different conditions so i know i have good gliders when the right conditions hit :) loved seeing the scenery again after having done it so recently. keep it up ✌✌
Started in line 7, I thought that it was a bit better up front, but obviously it wasn’t 😢 had the same feeling as you, big disappointment …
Yeah, that’s how it is sometimes and I can understand that it most have been hard from line 7. There’s always next year I guess 🤷♂️
great video man I am a young (16 years old) bikepacker and I want to ride this summer from The Netherlands to Switserland do you maybe have recommendations for the route like nice parts and parts that are better to avoid?
Hi and thanks. Glad you liked the video. A bikepacking trip from NL to Swiss sounds awesome. My recommendation for you would be to go on Komoot.com and plan your route from there. A great trip planner website specially for biking and bikepacking. You should also check out eurovelo. Thats a bikepacking route network that goes across all of europe. If you combine Komoot and eurovelo, you should be able to create a pretty cool route. Feel free to contact me on instagram @andreasfausko if you have anymore questions. Good luck!
Roligt att du filmade så man fick se igen hur det såg ut 🥶 jag var precis framför dig vid högsta punkten 🥵
Hi , I was wondering if you used skis with skins or with vax Really good time btw, have just signed up for the same challenge in 2025, get decent start group from 45 for real 99 k vasaloppet Rgds Radek
Awfully unfortunate conditions! Appreciate the "bad vibes" more than fake enthusiasm. Sticking around for more videos for sure!
Yeah, not much to do about the weather unfortunately. But thank you, appreciate it!
Have enjoyed your videos this year for my first vasaloppet. Was freaking tough this year! In start group 9, took 2 hours to get to the top of the hill and was brutal from there. Enjoyed your video to give me comfort I wasn't the only one who properly suffered on Sunday. Keep up the vids!
Its impossible to really race the popular ski marathons. Im in US and even here there are some races that are too crowded to really race. The birkie (US version) has traffic in wave 1 - right behind elites. Which seems crazy.
Yeah, you have to be pretty far up in the starting groups to really race Vasaloppet.
Led 4 still with 7:32. Not that bad.
I was in led 3 actually 😅 But not too bad I guess. Just hoped it would go a bit faster.
Well done Andreas and awesome video as always ! Well understand your initial feelings, especially after such a phenomenal Vas45 time and all the trainings. I live at Jizerska 50 area and conditions were very similar last year, so I can imagine how hard it was for you (and all). While I'm by far not as good c.c. skier as you are, Vasaloppet is on my "dream list". Hopefully next year I'll try and with the only ambition...to make it to the finish line no matter time 🙂. Be well !
Thank you very much! Would be fun to try Jizerska one time, but not in similar conditions 😅 Hope to see you at Vasaloppet next year. I’m sure you will make it with no problem!
Thank you so much ! And you don't hesitate to reach out if you're coming over here one time (if there's a snow and no more cancellations...🙏), will be pleased to meet you in person !
Great video! Pretty glad I didn’t participate this year😅
Thank you. Yeah, don’t think anyone regret watching it from the couch this year 😅
Try the Troll Ski, they usually have great tracks.
Unfortunately the Troll Ski Marathon will no longer be organized. But it was a very nice course, indeed!
Worldloppet has some fun races that you should consider. They are all less then 90 km 😂 - It took me three attempts (COVId/weather) before I could finish Fossavatnsgangan but I was lucky with Marcialonga, Engadine, Königslaufet, Dolemittenlaufet, Birkerennet and USA Birkie. Lots of travel, but fun
Gonna have to look into that 😉👍🏻 Cool that you’ve done all of them.
