    Sounds like someone has been reading 'holistic management'! Dr Nichols is brilliant, no doubt about it, but also please do go back and read Savory's book, as what it's really about is the "new framework for decision making"...

    It's funny that he was scaremongering about 4 degrees temperature increase. "They have a model that says it will outgas some carbon". Well, adding 4 degrees to South Dakota weather will give you Kansas temperatures or thereabout. It's not exactly a mystery or a disaster. It's an improvement.

    Wonder how long it will take for the info about Round up to disseminate - people know it's a chelator and it blocks the uptake of minerals by plants (so the minerals aren't in the plant or fruits), and here's yet another "settled" lawsuit where its proven in court that its cancerous. This lawsuit is supposed to order Bayer/monsanto to cease saying that it's "safe for the environment and safe for people and animals". Its time to work on other solutions, and pour-ons are another thing to take out of the mix.

    Absolutely correct. Farming is soil knowledge. What is it, what makes it work, what keeps it healthy, why doesn't it need to take breaks, what can I do to help? Start that journey to ensure the success of your operation. Got clay?, turn it into black loam (Dr. Elaine Ingham) Got sand, same answer. Get microscopic life on every square inch and watch it support growth which turn into dollars. It may not be too late to start but when you do become a little bit obsessional, become passionate about not your crops/meat/income but your soils capacity to support you.

    @26:21 forests are as ill-managed as crops have previously been (and mostly still are.) Controlled fires are actually the answer to a lot of their issues. Fire is completely endemic and natural in a forest. Additionally, forestry is still largely monocropping. With controlled burns, diversity, and proper management, forestry should be able to meet or even exceed regenerative farms in carbon sequestration. Basically, we need a regenerative forestry movement as well.

    • @MistressOP

      @@mirsidorov5112 the sad thing is most of our farmer isn't cash plus. If you do the numbers most of it is heavily subsidized and exist as that. Can't afford the road, can't afford most of It's operated as quietly secret lost leader. I remember as a kid farming in a city. Working for this guy and we had farm kids come out work in the city who own all that land and what not. They'd say takers and makers and laugh at us. Then the guy I was working for explain that most city farms have to run extremely cash plus. It has to make sense on the books because we don't get a lot of the crop insurance and all the programs they did. When point of fact takers and makers stuff was cruel ebcause they were basically talking about themsevles poorly. It stuck with me all my life. One we have to think about farming differently than we have been and look past the "tag lines" and two being cruel for cruel sake is stupid. To the point about "only concerned with keeping their jobs" I started farming at like 16 for my schools farm. Who would feed the actual school in cali. What I learn from that is that the USDA that isn't a part of the (sellers market for farming) has been begging land owners and producer who lease to change for more than 20 plus years. Part of the issue is that the electoral college empowers rural communities in certain states to use there voting power poorly. Multi generational poorly. And that voting power wants to keep spraying and keep tilling until they put themsevles out of biz depending on the current price of oil because they already bought all the stuff. And expect to be bailed out promptly every time it goes bust. not a lot of change we can do until folks admit what is happening.

    The Video indicated it is nearly impossible to track Soil Carbon. That is incorrect. It is trivial to measure Carbon in Soil... and to track changes over time. ALL THE ADDITIONAL CARBON (each year) COMES FROM THE ATMOSPHERE (or from a truck if you're using Biochar or Compost... it's still Carbon that WAS IN THE AIR recently... AND NOW IT ISN'T).

  • @larrysiders1
    @larrysiders1 ปีที่แล้ว

    Spending $Billions to transport and bury CO2 is ridiculous. The Scales of the tonnages of carbon is just crazy...> $150/ton. Sequestering a measly "CO2 Ton" worth of Carbon in Ag Soils only costs pennies (e.g. Biological Teas from a pound of Johnson-Su)...AND PAYS OFF $Hundreds that year. The SOLUTION: Incentivize Farmers to transition into Soil Regeneration. Way cheaper to sequester CO2 in Soil... Then it is an asset that pays off is a dozen ways for Decades to Centuries. The Climate Crisis is fixable via Soil Regenetation. But the Climate Crisis is a Fraud. The Fraudsters don't want any REAL SOLUTIONS.... they want the FAKE ISSUE... to control energy prices (i.e. greatly Increasing Energy Costs). A well managed International Soil Regeneration Program wouldn't cost anything long term...Instead, it would Pay $Trillions in just a few years. AND IT NEEDS TO BE DONE ANYWAY. Benefits: • Vastly reduced Fertilizer Needs • Soil Erosion can be virtually eliminated • Rainwater Capture can approach 100% (over 10" of rain per hour never happens) • Pesticides and Herbicides can be virtually eliminated. • Most floods could be avoided • Our Great Aquifers would get refilled • Croplands become virtually drought proof. • Topsoil IS ADDED To Our Croplands...going DEEPER. After a decade, topsoil depths frequently increase from 6" to 24". • Our Rivers and Lakes would no longer be poisoned with all the Fertilizer, Pesticides, and Herbicide runoff. • Ocean "Dead Zones" (no Oxygen) would be eliminated.
