Ramp Truck project for Willys CJ2A
มุมมอง 1.3K9 หลายเดือนก่อน
Just getting started to build a ramp truck for my Willys jeep out of a 2004 GMC Savana 3500 cutaway van. I’m using a van so it isn’t so long as a pick up truck ramp truck would be.

VEVOR Lathe YZ-210D one year review
มุมมอง 10Kปีที่แล้ว
This is a one year review of the VEVOR lathe. The last video was about if you should buy one. This isn’t the best lathe but if I didn’t have it for the stuff I do my life would be a lot more difficult. It works for what I use it for.

Willys CJ2A Making a rear bumper
มุมมอง 311ปีที่แล้ว
Still didn’t want to deal with the gas tank, but I needed to make a bumper for the rear, so that’s what I did. Pretty simple, but it seams to function the way it should.

Is the through bore an actual 1.500" ? Website says 38mm/1.5" but that dont add up because 1.500" = 38.1mm so maybe 0.007 or so tight considering this is a ChiNa lathe and figured the metric measurements were right. Any chance if this is the case I could run a boring bar down the spindle? I'm guessing the spindle is about 6-7" long. Thanks
Those rounds look cool “ I m gonna have to make some for my self.
They do look cool, but you can’t get the performance out of them you can with a plastic hull
the camera whent by your reloading room real fast.... I do that tooo, when not working on the 51 CJ3A
Yeah, I reload I used to make videos on that too, but I’m always getting strikes
Those fly nicely.
Heck yeah that is awesome!
Thanks. I’m glad you left the comment. It reminds me that I am out of them. Need to make some more.
Smooth cone crimp starter works a lot better.
I never heard of a smooth cone crimp starter. I’ll have to look it up. Thanks for the advice.
Don't cut the barrels, buy a dent raiser.
Wire gauge size and fuse ?
Hi, thanks for the question. I really don’t understand it though. You just matched the wire size that is on the steering unit. You could throw a relay in there if you wanted, but I don’t think it draws all that much I never put a meter on it to see what the amp are
@maxxbear5014 Ok thx, I have the same setup like you on my 52 Willy's. I really like it
now put some live primers in there sww how they shoot/impact
I would never do that.
Ive just bought the same machine, in my case its called Creworks 1100W but its almost identical to yours. The biggest issue(so far...) on mine is that v-cuts of the saddle dont match the angle of the way-cuts, im pretty sure that the saddle cuts are at 90 degrees, and im absolutely sure that the way cuts are less than that, making the saddle ride on just the tips of the way cuts. How did yours match up under there? :)
I re-surfaced them. They actually had a different profile over the length no matter how I adjusted them I would get tight spots so I had to resurface them. I scraped them first, then polish them. That’s not good them riding on the tip of the way.
@@maxxbear5014 How did u scrape them? i cant imagen a re-scrape of the entire bed ways that will be straight and at the right angle by hand... No this issue must be resolved before any kind of use! :)
@@stoffeoscarsson6572 you can always send it back before you start messing with it. Maybe they’ll replace it with one that’s in better condition. you can scrape it. Just take some time with a 36 inch straight edge.
Hi there Can you send me copy of these papers pls and I’ll pay the fee
I built this many years ago I wouldn’t even know where to start to look for that paperwork but if I come across it, I will contact you
i have one made in yonkers and its just as good as the one you have.ive had it for 25 years, shot thousands of rounds .its beautiful.
They are nice. I thinking about thin line grips
I can confirm, this works great on Zombies 🧟♂️
I don’t know about zombies, but I do know it works great on wild hogs. lol
Could you confirm the kind of radiator you put in your Willys? When I look up 77 Corolla it shows the lower hose on the drivers side.
www.ebay.com/itm/224579339554 This is the link I bought the radiator from. Thanks for your question.
@@maxxbear5014 thank you!
What is the thickness of the tool holders that you are using? 3/8 or 5/8?
Is it imperial or metric from the factory?
Aint no way in hell thats an SAE lathe. You best start looking at a precision mathews because thats about the only benchtot that has a true SAE setup. If you are talking about gearing for threads you can get by with one of these but what im talking about is the lead screws and dials being calibrated
Hi thanks for the video. Is the motor the 800w version? Is it powerful enough for your useage?
I’ll try to answer all your questions tonight I’ll take a look at it there hasn’t been anything I couldn’t do on it
@maxxbear5014 you tried cutting any 17-4 stainless on it? Annealed of course 😂 I wouldn't expect this to cut heat treated 17-4 but would be a good test of its capabilities
Nice! No keyholes! Will try your tail wads on my Lee 7/8 oz drive key slugs! Seems to group tighter than AA wads. Also a good backup for SHTF when I can't find regular wads anymore. Great vid! Thank you!
Hey there how are ya? Great build! I’m looking at doing swinging pedals to my 69 cj5. What pedal set up did ya use? Also sir what drivers side exhaust manifold are you running? Thanks for sharing have a great day!
To be honest, I just went on eBay and bought the cheapest set of swinging pedals I could find on there. I think they were from a Honda 2000 I think the 2000 is the model I’m using the standard rear exit manifold on the driver side. The reason I could use that manifold. is because I switched around the steering I put in a Prius electric power steering in a Toyota truck steering box mount to the outside of the frame. You could just search some of my videos and you could see how all that was done. Hope your CJ turn out great thanks for the question.
Maxx Bear can a howdah pistol 20 gauge fires slugs at an elephant from a Howdah?
do you still have this body and is it for sale
do you still have the old windshield frame for sale?
Actually, yes, I still do. I still have the whole front end but I picked up a rusty old bed from a model A pick up truck. I’m going to make a kind of jeep pick up truck using those parts the window frames from C&C are pretty good units
@@maxxbear5014 thats coo, what about the rusty tub you still have that? is it for sale
@@Frank-o7u7f the tub was trash. Go on a long time ago
They made that way from the factory.
Thanks. Yes it is. I learned that after this video but I would’ve made the bumper the same way anyway.
@@maxxbear5014 I agree with you don’t like the asymmetrical look and cut mine to match the other side as well. Just looks better IMOP.

Reloading black powder shotgun shells with To light up the night sky
i used plumbers putty, but your idea is better. thanks.
Would I be able to seal it with bee's wax?
I don’t quite understand your question. Do you mean seal it after you crimp it
@@maxxbear5014 sorry for being so vague but I meant can I seat them a little deeper and then use beeswax to seal them from moisture?
@@justsomeguy9700 if I was trying to seal them, I would probably use a little bit of clear lacquer around the top
Sweet! I bought a vintage craftsman press for $8 at a thrift store that clamps a drill in place. It works great but I have to mess with getting the drill level. I have a 4 pin roller. Works great on my 10 gauge loads.
I also load 10 gauge I think my roll crimper is from precision. I think it only has two pins but it works great. I’ve seen those clamp on drills I think it should work pretty good
@@maxxbear5014 yeah it works awesome for a seven dollar used press. I like yours better though it’s pretty fancy.
What thickness sheet metal di you use? Watching for the 3rd time. Starting today on the Veep.

Great Video. Will be doing this to the CJ3A. How much did you move it back? What was the total length of the original cut
I’ll get it for you the next time I’m in the garage. Thanks
4 3/4” back. 5 1/4” deep
@@maxxbear5014 Thanks.
I was hoping you would show us how to weld it as well. Thanks for sharing your knowledge.
Paul. I just use 27 wire on my mig welder, then filed the outside smooth was a pretty simple process. Thank you for your comment.
thanks for the video! thats great.
Nice👍
Sweet!👍👍👍
Great Job! Need to do this to the CJ3A.
Great Video! How long are the CJ5 seats from the rear of the seats to the front of the bottom cushion?
They are 22”. Thanks for watching the video.
Aqui no Brasil nao existe mini shells pra vender, eu fazer alguns recarregados, você usa a mesma quantidade de pólvora que um cartucho normal?
Plastic has a “ memory” . Paper has NO memory!
Maybe I should’ve said previous folds that have already deformed the paper and would be suited to be put back to their original folds
Looks good. Have to remember the mini drill press when I go shopping. 👍 Is anyone making the 4-pin crimp now that TRN stopped carrying it? The hull vice is discontinued too. Saw some of those on Amazon though.
The 2 pin works ok
I like the DIY vice & trimmer. Just need to pick up a drill press.
I'm surprised that you didn't go with duellies ?
Hey, how are you doing? Yeah, I was going to go with Duellies but I would’ve needed a spacer so they didn’t hit the brake caliper then I would’ve needed different Lugnuts these tires are a little hard to get. They are only made by two manufacturers but I’m only hauling my jeep so I think they’ll work OK I do have another video coming out. I’m pretty far ahead on it now.
What size tool bits are using 1/2 or 5/8 ?
How low, from the bottow plate, can it come down? Would be interested to know if it can get low enough to crimp 2" shortshells. Disreguard. Demonstrated the solution @6:30.
Do you recall the final spacer thickness you ended up with between the tub and the frame? I want to make my one. Also how hard were the spacers? Like a rubber tire or more like the sole of a rubber shoe? Thanks.
5/8”. They were made of Delran. It’s a hard plastic type material. It was on the softer side of the Delran scale. Thanks for watching a video.
Every mini lathe from China needs some kind of tweaking
For what I use it for it works great. Thanks for watching the video.
What tire size and rim?
285/75/R16. 8” wide rim
🇺🇸🔥🔥🇺🇸
Progress in your process. Thanks for sharing.
That almost looks like it should have a load range E on it.
