Hi, been following youre vlogs for a while now and I do understand you want to move away from bulk used lego and only do used minifigure parts/new Lego as its worth more youre time. But what I dont understand is that you are buying bulk used lego like a madman now 😅😉, you will probably not list 90% of all the parts on bricklink anymore of that bulk, is it still worth the purchase price then?
Thanks for watching! I think the yogurt makes me crazy! But I’ll be going over the idea hopefully in the next few vlogs but the goal is to list the good parts from the used bulk and then sell the rest at auctions on eBay. In general if done right it can lead to the best of both worlds! I try to only buy the lots that contain enough good parts to be profitable on their own so I don’t have to worry about the normal parts. Plus buying bulk is quite fun 😁😁
Thank you for explaining, Im curious to see how that would work out. I have the feeling that would only work with lots that have enough good minifigures in them. You also have to factor in the time it will take to sell those good parts again. Because you will only list a few of the lot now it will take longer to get youre money back and be in the profits from that lot
It will be interesting to see how it works out! Hopefully once I start listing them in roughly 6 or so months we can start to see the numbers! one fun part about lego is that it can add up quickly so like you mentioned if I can pick up lots that have a good variety of figure parts and such it should hopefully be worth it! Tho relatively speaking in general the cost is “low” for used lots so even finding a small handful of good parts can pay the entire lots of in most cases and as for items taking a while to sell it all part of the game! Bricklink is a very long term platform so in general you won’t ever see profit from most inventory purchases for at least 1+ years so hopefully these will be within normal!
Thats true. The cost of bulk used lego is relatively low which make it a low risk. Its an interesting experiment. Im also curious to see how youre experiment with the auctions will turn out. Its always a dilema to know which will do best, buy it now or an auction (taking all factors in consideration)
Indeed! It will be exciting! Hopefully once I get around 10-20 auctions completed it will help provide some insight and maybe I can also try some standard listings with set prices!
I see different consumers on bricklink. Resellers and minifigure collectors - they buy minifigure parts and full figs. The occasional part. Moc makers - they buy large quantities of new, they will buy used if they don't need many. They also buy figure parts. People trying complete sets - these are the guys that will buy the used. But they will also buy new stuff if you have enough used parts that they want.
Indeed! It’s very interesting to look at the different markets and try to work on the best inventory for both!
Winner winner Yogurt's for Dinner 🤣 my first time actually winning and auction :)
Congrats! Don’t forget to celebrate with pizza! 🍕
@@nubsselect sounds good lol
You do what works for you. Hope your new project takes better shape.
Thanks and likewise!
Did you mean to list the bulk lot under the antiques category?
Good catch! That was a mistake! I've now fixed it on all the listings (except the 1 that has already started). Thankyou for catching it!
thinking of biding on the auction , but will see . lol nice way to clear the bulk , but I do agree it does take a LONG time to make sure everything is good and then list it . but it is a risky move to just bulk it up and selling it away , wishing you all the best luck . PS your dad just lost his part time job , how is dealing with it ? make sure the man is ok lol 😂
You might get a good deal! Indeed! It takes a very very very long time to list the normal bulk. Luckily I’m not just selling parts from bulk lots so that should lessen any potential damages if it somehow fails badly 😁😁. I think he’s a little happy! He gets to spend more time tinkering in the garage now 😁😁😁
You should make sure that brickinstructions and/or brickfactory have scans of those old instructions before you sell them.
I just bagged them up :( luckily they aren’t to rare so hopefully they are already added!
Good luck, the switch from old used to new will cut loads of time I think and put your Dad out of a job. Lol
Thanks! Indeed! Though I think my dad might secretly be happy as he gets to tinker with things for longer in the garage now 😁😁
More parts means more people which means more sales even though they’re not unique parts. I don’t agree with your views on not listing everything but it is your store.
It is tricky! However for non unique parts I can get them much easier from new sets in comparison to the time and effort it takes from used which leads to more time to listing the unique parts which draw in more orders! If I spend less time listing used generic parts I have more time to list new parts from sets which will lead to even more pieces for sale then if I was listing the used ones which should also help sales
I'm curious about the logic concerning new vs used Lego. I know used has a much higher labor cost but it also has a much higher return on investment right? Not arguing with you, just wondering if there is something I haven't considered or if it is something unique to you (like unavailability of cheap used bulk where you live).
The thing with used bulk is that it can’t be grown “exponentially” with new yes it has a lower return but I can part out 100 multi hundred part sets in a few days compared to if I spent those few days listing used parts I could maybe get 5-6 parted out of a similar size in the same amount of time. So with new I can get more listed faster at a higher cost but can grow that compared to used which you can list all day but you can never grow it much as if listing just normal basic used parts it’s difficult to list even $100 in a day meanwhile with new I can list $500+ within 1 day with just normal parts.
The stats were interesting! I wonder if you took 108 days to work just on the minifig backlog, how the profit would compare.
Indeed! I can only imagine it would be much more! I do plan to do something similar for at least part of the minifigure backlog so once I get to that it will be interesting!
your almost done with the sets . that's awesome . keep up the great work .
Thanks! Great progress was made in the next vlog that will be out :)
Well done getting backlog done.
Thanks!
Where do you buy your bulk minifigures
mostly from random auctions on eBay
@@nubsselect thank you I have just tried starting up a minifig business but haven’t bought more than £50 worth at a time
Exciting for your future expansion.
Indeed! Thankyou!
Most of my sales are new pieces, new and used mini-figures, and used sets. Beginning to rethink the used pieces as well. They definitely take a lot more time.
indeed! starting out with standard used bricks are a great way to start up but in the long run they can hinder growth
Can’t wait to see your downstairs kitchen office completely uploaded…lol

that adobe really just likes to run away on your screen LOL congrats on the win , Oh and all them lego sets on the floor in the ebay room , is that all for parting out ? or is it all for eBay ? Keep up the great work .

Lots of lego indeed! Thanks!
new sub here! Good luck on your store growth!
Thankyou for the sub and luck! 🍕🍕
I disagree with your view on the cereal box because it was inside a mailer so it wasnt necessarily holding the pieces from escaping but was supplying a lot of 'lightweight structure', in fact better than a bubble mailer because everything can get crushed if there is a lot of pressure.
Sometimes it can work without issue however as the cereal box provides little/no structural support if even something like a 5 pound box is set on it, it would then crush that box and if there is anything fragile inside such as a sets box or flimsy part it would then be destroyed so its best to set up your system to use more rigid boxes from the start so that it doesn't cause potential issues in the future.
@@nubsselect I guess I don't know what the weight of your package was, I was thinking around 500g. I'm not suggesting a 2kg (5pound) order should be in a flimsy box in a mailer, although I get lots of Euro 2kg orders who seem to love packing bubble mailers full, talk about fragile parts inside getting broken from a little outside pressure...., I'm suggesting that a super lightweight box inside a poly mailer for low weights may be better protection than a simple bubble mailer.
Ah sorry I think I misexplained. Yes the package was around 500ish grams with packaging but I was referring to during the shipping process. packages are often put through quite a bit during the shipping process so what I had meant is if someone ships an order in a cereal box, if at any point during the shipping process a heaver box is set on top of it, it would then crush the package and any potentially fragile parts in it. this order didn't have any fragile parts so it would have been fine if that had happened but in general its best to try to always ship with a sturdy box or with a bubble mailer. Yah its wild sometimes what people send in bubble mailers, but yah I agree if there are any potentially fragile items it should be shipped in a rigid box and not a bubble mailer or flimsy box (such as a cereal box).
If you want the dimensions for some of the more expensive figures you might want to just contact the sellers that have them and ask if they could find the dimensions for you. From my experience the BL community is very helpful and any seller you contact would probably be Willing to help out.
This would be for the complete Duplo ones obviously not the ones that you only need a few parts for
I agree, what intimidates most sellers is the process submitting to the catalogue, but they are likely glad to give the dimensions for someone else to enter.
They are often very helpful indeed! However, adding measurements for items can be difficult if you are not familiar with them (often different angles for parts can be very difficult to measure) and unfortunately, most people dont have a digital calliper on hand to do the measuring so it is often simplest to purchase the parts and then measure them and then the seller gets an order and the catalogue becomes more complete which is a nice win-win scenario!
keep up the great work .
Thanks! Will do!
Great job on the minifig dimensions!😃 The admins should probably make it a requirement to have weight & packing dimensions when adding a fig tho
Thanks! It gets a bit complicated with that as unfortunately many people don't have digital callipers or precision scales to add accurate sizes and weights so it could potentially cause more problems then it would solve
@@nubsselect True, I was watching one of your vids, and I noticed that you had mastercraft callipers, then I remembered that I have the exact same ones😅 So I was finally able to add accurate dimensions. Then I bought a good scale too(a worth while investment)
Great choices! 100% agree they are great tools worth the low cost
Can’t wait for more pablo vids, your pretty brave to buy duplo just for dimensions😂😂
Indeed! they will be fun to make again! Yah the Duplo is quite difficult to convince myself to buy as unlike other parts its not easy to resell it :D:D:D
@@nubsselect Too true, maybe if baby’s where allowed to have Bricklink accounts it would be a different story
😂😂
Film packing orders
That is part of the hope for the Pablo videos! Tho it can be difficult with customers address involved so I’m still trying to figure out the best way to do that but might see if I can get some 4x6 inch post it notes to cover labels
Amazon has some cheap harness for strapping your phone on your chest, might get one of those myself and perhaps start recording order picking :p
@@mattsbricksandbuilds Interesting! Thankyou for sharing!
RIP little yellow lego angry bird , keep up the great work . and it's awesome seeing how many orders you get .

I just realized how on the forums you are pizza guy, but in your videos I've never once heard you mention pizza until the sticker in this video....

I think it's a pretty cool idea to have the info for the shipping price , BUT would it not cause you trouble once prices change and you would have to redo it all over again ??. Keep up the great work 🍕😁
😁😁 it would be but that’s a problem for future me 😁😁😁 Thanks!
Awesome can’t wait for the minifig parts to arrive! Great job! Similarly I just bought a item listed as custom to add to the catalog.

I was just looking at the change logs and it seems you may have forgotten to convert mm to cm for the one minifigure
@@nubsselect Which one?
what is the size of the little cards you make for the mini figures and what size are the bags . keep up the great work
they are standard recipe cards from the dollar store folded in half. the bags are 3x4 inch. Thanks!
@@nubsselect Thanks
Wow, that was a massive bunch of gwp’s.

Wow, cool to be able to see the inside walls of the princess auto box😄

got a Question , when you print your label can you pay for the postage on there instead of having to put stamps on the envelope ? Oh an looks like your adobe wants to escape your computer LOL 🤣
I think it might be possible however I’ve never been able to figure it out :( I’ve looked online for information on it but only hit dead ends and think it might only be available for normal lettermail and not oversized lettermail. I won’t let it escape!
Ooo, more stickered parts to add to the catalog😅
😂😂😁😁
@@nubsselect Honestly with the state of the catalog being so far behind on stickered parts, it would be awesome if TLG would stop adding stickers to sets for just a year.😂😂 But we can only wish☺️;)
😂😂😂
@@nubsselect Next thing you know all stickered parts are replaced with printed parts🤣🤣
That would be amazing! and would be even better if they all had renders! 😁😁
Stallion Express cheaper than Canada Post for within Canada?
Yup! They work with multiple carriers (Including Canada post) and often times the best rates are 50%+ cheaper then even Canada Post Commercial rates.
Nubs , it's time for you to buy a new chair LOL . Oh and have you heard about Canada post wanting to cut down the amounts of days they ship packages and all that ? . all because they are losing a lot of money . 🤷♂ keep up the great work .
😁😁 a new chair might be needed 😁😁, no I hadn’t heard about that, I just checked it out and hopefully it dosnt happen! Thanks!
Not sure using Stallion rates is a fair comparison, CP rate would be a lot more.
True, however the shipping cost for that package would have used the current "commercial rates" of the time as it was shipped by a large company. Though if it helps the Canada post rate for the same package is $9 which is $3.90 more expensive than the now-best commercial rate. But I comply understand what you mean, for some reason I didn't think of it when I was filming 😁😁😁
LOL at people complaining about copyright infringement when they themselves have infringed on another's copyright. LEGO owns the copyright to the image of the minifig and when you published the image YOU violated their copyright.
Sorry if I’m misunderstanding something but taking an image of a lego product for a lego owned website which is approved by admins on the lego owned website which is then approved dosnt violate any copyright. Even uploading an image a user takes on their own to eBay or some other place would fall under fair use unless they copied the image from another source without permission.
the Ebay room is fully cleaned , wow looks great . keep up the great work .
Thanks! Tho most of it is just in the shelves and not yet listed but at least it’s much cleaner!
