You could totally do another few episodes of this for british bands alone. I'd love to see Warrior by Wishbone Ash featured, one of the greatest riffs in my opinion.

I know Ozzy's far more well known for his solo carrier, but I'll always prefer his work with Sabbath. I think he was the perfect vocalist for the band. As much as I enjoy Dio's work with Sabbath, I can't imagine anybody else was a more perfect fit for them.
I agree I think Ozzy fits sabbath better, but heaven and hell is really good. It sounds like a different band though
@@riffsandfish Oh yeah, Heaven and Hell is great, but yeah, doesn't really sound like a Sabbath record. To me, Heavan and Hell sounds like if Rush tried to copy Sabbath. On song like Children of the Sea, if you told me Geddy was singing it, I'd belive you.

Y'know, as I've gotten older, I've really come to appreciate this sorta simplistic radio friendly stuff. As much as I enjoyed Pat Finnerty's video trashing this song, I've learned to appreciate its value, and the value of simplicity as a whole in music. Theres really nothing wrong with having just a handful of ideas and repeating it a few times. Anyways, great playthrough, I think I'll learn it just so I can whip it out at a party or somthing.

@@riffsandfish Glad you liked it, Coheed's one of the most underrated 'guitar heavy' bands of the last two decades. I'd highly recommend "The Crowing" and "In Keeping Secrets of Silent Earth: 3" for some songs that are chock-full of great riffs.

I gotta say, this definitely depends on your style. For example ones like Foolin are definitely not easy for me. However, I can play far more difficult things like the first solo to Phantom of The Opera (with ~90% accuracy) which is very difficult and the chorus melody in Perfect Strangers which isn’t easy either. Again, it’s all in your style. Or maybe I’m just extremely inconsistent…😂
I agree, some of these could be more difficult for beginners depending on their style. Different genres and playing styles on guitar are almost like playing another instrument
@@riffsandfish I couldn’t agree more. I’m pretty decent at heavy metal like Saxon and Black Sabbath but absolutely suck at thrash metal like Metallica and Slayer despite most (like ShredMasterScott) considering the former to be more difficult. It’s all in the styles

Yeah the riffs are easy but some of the solos not so much. To me that was frustrating back in the day
I agree, even the rest of the song might be difficult on sone of these songs. But just the riffs are good practice for new guitarists

Awesome licks, how do you suggest learning to improvise licks and creating guitar parts to a song?
Great question, what I would first suggest is to practice licks and riffs, and then change the phrasing. For example, if the tab says to bend the note try to slide or hammer on to the note instead. In other words play the same notes but in a different way. This can help create new ideas
