The 1969 Body Swapped Roadrunner gets a Late Model Challenger Fuel Cap/ Door Graphed In
มุมมอง 4806 หลายเดือนก่อน
The B-Pillar / Sail Panel was the best place in my opinion to mount the Fuel door. I didn’t want to have it obstruct the wheel and tire travel. I know it’s not “traditional”, but not much on this car is. Coming up next is plumbing the fuel filler neck and rocker panels.

Appreciate the video mate. All the way from Adelaide, Australia.
So innovative
Love that thing
Your amazing!
Super cool!
Some of those freeway scenes came out awesome! It looks so smooth gliding by cars in the middle lane. Did you get the steering column worked out?
It was the cameraman’s concentration and steady hand!
What is up with painted fingernails????? !!!!!
I am the shop painter too. They don’t always get cleaned on time before the paint hardens. Either that or I’m metro-sexual. Sometimes I wear my high heals when I’m painting tall vehicles!!😆😆
@@steeledreams2118 Hey. I’m not judging. To each their own. What ever floats your boat. lol. lol 😂. Great video !!!!
Thanks for the video on the amazing chassis and drivetrain swap. Such a great idea and execution. Question is the 47 a prewar design carried over from 42? Because I recall new larger rear taillights in 48 then the 49s were redesigned.
Yea the Caddy chassis worker out well.
East coast to west coast driving machine! I like it!!
Nice work! That's Awesome!
Thanks!
Nice car! Always loved these old big bodies!
Is the Buick not fitted with indicators on your drive !?
No we were having issues with the brake and taillights. It’s all good now
Just found your video... great job
Thank you
WOW upon WOW!!! Some day I'm gonna fly out there and buy you lunch, and then sit quietly in a corner and watch you work. And while I'm there I'll get you to show me all about your '47 Roadie, since you've already learned all the secrets! GREAT JOB!!!
Looking forward to it!
One cool sleeper
Well you now have a new model on the roads. Its buicad. Love these old cars. Nice job.
Or a Caduic?
Eso es patina real ,no oxido. 👍🎥
Sí. pero es muy superficial. Sería fácil de limpiar para barr metal.
Very nice 47... Where are you located? It reminds me of Central California where I used to be stationed....
I’m in Southern California. The inland empire. Western Riverside county. In Wildomar
That is a cool way to kill your spare time.
I have too many irons in the fire for spare time. I love what I do.
Guys how come you are not painting any of the door jams on the old Buick, and you are putting new interior in it right. The Body was off the chassis, why wasn’t sandblasted and painted,at least the inside would look nice, when the doors are open
The customer didn’t want to go that distance on this car. The ol’ Buick really has no rust except the surface rust. The interior is actually done now and he is driving the car. I didn’t get any pics of the interior after it was completed. The car will get painted later. He drove it to Vegas for Viva last April.
On thing is for sure. As my father in law used to say, “I’ll bet that thing rides like a Cadillac”. 😊
You are obviously not afraid of work , because that would be a TON of it . Good job.
Closer to two tons :)
I love the challenge
👍🇦🇷
Patiently waiting for a video …. Glad you’re back
Where are guys located cali ?
10 miles north of Temecula off the 15 fwy
that car makes me smile watching it go down the high way hope you never paint it nice work
I don’t think she was happy about you taking her lace curtains
Luckily I bought it off of Etsy. Just not enough
Great job, my only question is why not fuel injection engine
The 94’ was a throttle body injected and the donor car I bought was a theft recovery. Some stuff was missing including the computer and I just didn’t feel like chasing parts down to complete a throttle body system. If it was the 95-96 then it would have had the z28 style system and that would have been different.
I've been pacing the floor waiting for an update. I've got exactly the same car, exactly the same chassis...I guess I'm waiting for YOU to make all the mistakes first! Looks like things are coming along really well. It motivates me! Thanks! - Tom in Texas
I have a lot of tips. Contact me if you need any help no matter how small
@@steeledreams2118 THANKS! You can count on it!
Even though the lace had those weird ridges it still worked well clamping and magnets made the differance. What works, works
We need more of these. Great talent. Thanks
So does your finger prints show through when you touched the white paint becauseof the oils??
No. I keep my hands clean throughout
Your panel looks mis-positioned and is probably made correctly. Good video, very informative
Awesome my old friend. So cool to see how you do this.
wooooooowwwww. I appreciate the restraint you had in minimizing the contrast between the lace and its background. I would have been so excited I would have increased the contrast, and it would have looked tacky. This foresight and discipline for restraint in the excitement of the process pays off.
Spraying the blue candy over the roses helped to regulate that. The dark blue and silver were way too much. Thanks buddy!
Nice progress Steele.
I'd use bike inner tube pieces instead of cardboard. Waterproof!
Why go through all that trouble and expense
I have a bike i want this exact treatment!!!
Thanks for taking the time to learn more about our build and doing this interview.
for the love of god turn your music down. i had to crank it up to hear you talk then you music sounded like an explosion

BEAST 👍👍👍
Sanded from 600 up to 1500? Then polish. What did u use to polish it with?
3m microfinishing polish. Any quality auto paint polish will do
@@steeledreams2118 super nervous. I have my boards stained. With 2 coats of epoxy. I tried a test piece. Sanded 600-3000 then buffed and it’s kinda hazy. I don’t want to ruin my boards. Test piece was shinier before sanding and buffing
600-3000 is not going to work. I would go back to 800 then 1200. I buff 1200 every now and then again we’ll use 2000 but very seldom. We usually only go that fine if we are rebuffing an older paint job to remove shrinkage and general use problems.
Awesome video! Similar to DIY Pete's video on eliminating rust.
As a janitor I've used a diluted (with water) muriatic acid to clean porcelain fixtures. This cleans without affecting the plated drains, faucets etc. We used it quickly and rinsed it off thoroughly. Nothing is better for removing scale, stains and rust. Can a diluted muriatic solution be used to remove rust, while decreasing the inherent dangers of the product?
😡 Promo-SM
The problem is?
What is cost in labor to do this job minus the donor cars thanks
There would be a lot to consider to give an estimate. Type of donar cars and the condition of each. To do something like is shown in the video would be in the $7-$10k area plus parts
I need it
Why do yall insist on this method. that acid is NEVER going away. it doesnt just dilute like phosphoric acid.
I don’t dilute it. If you wanted to it would dilute just fine. What do you think happens when you pour it in your pool?
@@steeledreams2118 My pool has 20k gallons of water, further the acid stays in tact until it sends its electrons to something with a lesser charge. do what ya want ...ur car.
Muriatic Acid is easily neutralized with a Baking Soda water mix, most common acids are neutralized with Baking Soda.
Wouldn't it be neutralized with baking soda?
@@tyhinders2475 Maybe? maybe not? is it something you want to risk being underneath $10k or so in paint when there are just better ways to do it? why not use a blow torch? see what im saying? you do you, its just an op brother.
Does work but it will burn your lungs very toxic
That’s why I emphasize use of proper respirators and safety equipment.
