In 1972 I purchased the album Summer Breeze What a treat I received when I heard the first track on the album Hummingbird. To this day it still moves me. It’s a very special song in my life. RIP Jimmy.
I want to thank you, Bats, for sharing this timeless video. It's incredible the music these two put down. I'm still listening in 2023, with eight days left until 2024.
When i saw thrm live,it was the era of loud hard, rocking guitars. After hearing their pure acoustic, and vocal performance ,my attitude toward music was forever changed. Skillful ,melodic playing of acoustic instruments have been my life long pursuit and endeavor.
Man, I almost had a heart-attack running across this. What memories...turning on the radio during the '70s, when BANDS and MUSICIANSHIP were the rule, and NOT the exception. What a treat this was. Thanks so much for the upload, Bats Jordan. Much appreciated (RIP, Jimmy Eugene Seals )👍👍
"Soft Rock" was a subgenre of Pop Rock that originated in Southern California in the 1970s with simple, melodic songs. It was something that dominated radio at the time. Who fits into "Soft Rock"? Phil Collins, Eagles, Rod Stewart, America, Carpenters, Neil Diamond etc. Well, it might not even be my favorite style (and maybe yours too), but something of that kind of nice and easy listening music was certainly appreciated. "Seals & Crofts" were ubiquitous at one time. One of the most successful attractions of the so-called "Soft Rock" in the 70's, the duo composed by Jim Seals and Dash Crofts met in 1958 playing together with the singer Dean Beard. But he only decided to go it alone as a duo in 1969. Seals played guitar, sax and violin, while Crofts handled drums, mandolin, keyboards and guitar.
I am 57 years old and was just a small child during their height of their music . I danced at my wedding with my Dad to “Get Closer”. My Dad and I shared a love so great and also a love of Seals and Croft. I grew up listening to them in the 70’s and our road trips as a family to the Texas hill country were filled with their wonderful music ❤
i was a kid in the 70's and music was very rarely on tv and music videos were not mandatory yet before mtv basically made it the law. as a result i think the music much more had to stand on its own which is why this older material is so superior to anything new you hear nowadays.
Grew up with every note, singing every lyric, loving each and every song written.I swear I was living inside each magically musical wonderful song as if written just for me and my lonely life in my lonely little town.Thank you Mr Seals and Mr Crofts for lifting us up!! Love Jim Russo
I just learned of Jim Seals passing watching the In Memorium segment of the 2023 Grammys. It seems unreal to me that his death wasn't a big news item at the time. Seals and Crofts were a huge part of my teenage development, and I had wanted to play Hummingbird at my wedding, but my minister wouldn't permit it because it was "heathen." (I stopped attending that church shortly thereafter.) I am so sad we are losing the talented musicians of my youth. The music of Seals and Crofts will always have a place in my heart. We may never pass this way again. Thank you, Jimmy, for sharing your gifts❤️
I will never forget being allowed to escort Seals & Crofts in their limo after a concert so they could give a Baha'i fireside talk. After their talk they commented to the women who was then my fiance, and became my spouse for 44+ years, until her passing 2 years ago, Sheryl (I will always love you), that she had a priceless smile, which she did. Will miss you, Jimmy. Stay happy in the next life.
Born in 1970 and I remember hearing Seals and Crofts on the radio and my parents had their records. I loved them from the very beginning and my children know their music as well ❤
Damn. Perfect harmony . Big sound . My 1st concert . Really changed my life I think. I couldn’t believe you paid ! For playing music? lol Anyway , hats off to the boys . Just great .
“Oh make that thing smoke for me Jimmy Seals!” Crofts was such a great friend and generous partner to Jim. Such talented musicians. Their perfect harmony is beyond legendary.

Irrepetible y profundo
Where is anything of this magnitude being produced today? Nowhere!! The airwaves are chock-full of talentless crap.
