Out of BVR missiles I try a Sidewinder on my bandit, but he defeats it! MiG-23 Flogger takes my six o'clock and my wingman Luca executes a textbook save.

Great communication on both parties. Meanwhile im barely able to utter beeping sounds like a truck to tell my driver that an enemy is behind us in battlefield 4
Hahah hey sounds like a good time regardless
shame there isnt more than 1 shift button, as i only have one hatswitch and it can only do so much
The A4 vs the Su25A ot T is a bit overpowered in a DogFight, its much more agile then the Froggy :P
"is that gonna hit the friendly?" "No, I wouldn't to that to the guy...' *AIM 9 proceeds to totally hit friendly* 😂😂😂
No no, that was a bandit
i found that if I go up instead of down my shrikes hit more, I tried to drop the nose but they always fall short. If i loft them then they are more likely to hit. This is what I found and I might have done some wrong setup for my shrikes, idk
So I'm a DCS Player in just about every way you can think of by now. But I do own and have flown in BMS a fair bit as well. though I haven't really sat down and done too much mission wise. DCS does need and is slowly getting a more BMS like Mission Editor. However, I'll say this. While i See BMS and DCS as more or less the same in Many ways, I'd honestly say they're equals, However not in the same fields. The Majority of DCS "pilots" play Singleplayer/solo missions they build themselves and barely ever ventures out into the wider world of Online play, and I think BMS is better on that side. more to the point. if you wanna fly Online in DCS I'd advise anyone new or old to DCS to find a group to fly with. you'll find groups that don't even let you join them unless you're capable of passing their checkrides (I'd stay away from those tbh) and then there's the good ones that will still have a checkride for the people that want more of a challenge, but that will focus on simply teaching you whatever level of Flight in your Favorite plane that you want to learn. but ultimately, I don't think you can really compare the two. for me DCS just has more for me to do. if I want a Deep strike that takes 5 hours with AAR and dodging SAM's and AA missiles and what have you I can either set that up fairly quickly or jump on a server where that's already built into the mission. Brevity is fine and all. Formation flying is Fine and all. and if that's your Jam you'll do just as fine in either Sim-Game if you ask me. same if you don't really feel like it. The only Real argument for one over the other that I personally can see/find however, is that BMS is basically free. gotta buy Falcon-4 and mod it with BMS and you're good to go. less options in Airframes than DCS. But it's free. and the Graphics don't matter if the flight-mechanics are good and shit does what it's supposed too. And DCS while free to play and download. in fact you mentioned one of the best Mods for DCS that is around. the A-4 is free. because community mod. and you get a SU-25T and TF-51D for free plus two maps with DCS. so you CAN fly in DCS for free. but high-fidelity and "realizm" costs a bit. Either way whichever one you like the most is the one you should play in the most. still think the arguments from both sides is stupid. none of it is REAL aircraft going into a REAL combat-area in the real world. so it's redundant at the end of the day. if you ask me anyway.
What is BMS?
Can you do an overview of how you set up OpenKneeboard?
I think that your seat is not in the good position , you must see the cross in the HUD to maintain the good Incidence during rollout!
My seat should be lower? Why isn’t the green “doughnut” adequate?
I use the racetrack method. keep the legs no more than 10 miles. Works well for me.
What the music?

Campaigns are gaming experience. No real simulator have them. Simulators have single scenarios. Just like DCS. Having dynamics campaigns is good, but not a sim thing.
Isn’t simulating a war- a wargame if you will - a simulation? Did I miss the point?
@@Wheelman_PCAS BMS is a simulation of war with an option for a player to fly a plane.

It’s an old relic with a lot of misplaced switches and of course using the underlying f16 systems - but yeah! I have a ramp start video that explains most switches and I think I included a spreadsheet file for startup

How do i stop my A-10 from pitching up constantly
You’ve trimmed the pitch and it still does this? There seems to be a bug where I get a violent pitch up or down as I accelerate or decelerate through certain speeds (these speeds vary based on altitude maybe) but most of the time it’s stable enough if trimmed. Something’s probably broken w/ the flight model, or maybe it’s something about stability augmentation modeling in BMS I don’t understand and am using wrong.
Good landing! Calm head 😊
Great. Thank you! 👍 ... imagine a fighter pilot listening to that music while operating the fcr 😅🚬
Why did you switch to bore sight mode and not stay on stt track?
th-cam.com/video/Jv59Choyw6Y/w-d-xo.htmlsi=4uHMoahuRpNMRwpW The beauty of a sparrow fired with no lock in BST is I should be able to crank up to the radar gimbals and fire a SECOND sparrow at a second bandit. So I wasn’t in STT- I decided that some I’m facing 2 bandits with one behind the other by a couple miles, I’ve want Jester to “track” both bandits till within visual range on the closest guy. I was hoping I could bag them both - killing the trail bandit just before he passes me in the merge. Pulled it off in a previous flight.
please give me the adjust controls buttons
Look for F4E and the “WSO” category of controls. This is a list of controls you can map so you can work the backseat controls from the pilots seat. Check for fine gain increase and decrease, antenna elevation up/down
@@Wheelman_PCAS thanksss
@@_MertT fo sho
impeccable vibes
Now you can play with gain and antenna elevation from the front seat with jester enabled. Use your wso-antenna elevation controls for the pilot, and jester won't override that. Gain control from the pilot seat is also an option, but jester will override it after a few seconds unless you'll slightly change it all the time. He wil react to the contacts that appear in higher gains only. That way you can do the same thing as you do in this video without jumping between cockpits
good show Wheelman
Do you also hold aar button while in boresight mode or isn't that necessary? Saw the drewski video where he mentioned that.
that button is for uncaging sidewinder seekers just before firing. the Cage button is what enters cage mode, a 5 mile range radar setting which allows the WSO to lock something in your pipper, or the pilot to enter auto acquisition mode by then pressing the nose gear steering button to attempt an auto lock. Here I'm just entering cage mode, putting the pipper over a visual target, and firing a sparrow with no lock. The missile interlock switch must be in the "out" position, and the aspect knob in the back seat must be in the proper position - watch other flood mode tutorials about this
I’m calling it “boresight” but technically the WSO hasn’t selected the actual boresight switch position from his seat. Kinda an override from the pilot seat but this should be called “cage mode” as I understand
Very nice, well done.
The manual is good…but while it tells you what certain switches do, it doesn’t do much to explain WHY you would want to do a thing and how to execute it. What I need is a “Chuck’s Guide” and I can’t guess why these developers don’t pay him to put their manuals together. I feel like there are a lot of things I don’t even know that I don’t know about the Phantom
The manual is bare bones! Surprised they didn’t have a dedicated person put something together for the release.
It really is. I know there are a lot of pages but there isn’t a lot ON each page. One page for a picture of a switch and a description. I get though, that this was done to allow for the in-game manual “pop up” - which is VERY helpful. I just wish the manual would explain how certain features should be used and why you would want to use them (instead of just the switch to activate it).
HOW do you get a lockless aim 7 kill i dont understand wich switches when and how
There’s a number of steps - did you look up Enigma’s video on “flood mode”?
Artistry!
I think if you like just flying the F-16 in a Mil-sim environment, BMS is great. The BMS A-10 isn’t close to the DCS A-10C in fidelity while I can’t speak to the F-15 in BMS as I haven’t flown it. BUT…what if I don’t want to fly an F-16, F-15 or A-10 ALL THE TIME? DCS offers dozens of high fidelity aircraft from different nations and different eras; not to mention helicopters. I can fly some missions in an F-16…and then hop in an F-4 Phantom for a Yom Kippur 1973 scenario. Then I can take out the Mi-24 Hind or an AH-64 Apache. Then I can play a highly realistic F.A-18 campaign where I’m based on a carrier before diving into a 1989 “liberation” campaign flying the F-14. DCS offers so many high fidelity platforms and lets you experience them over 9 different maps in whatever era you would like (with corresponding correct weapons).
The thing is the minimum cost of +200$ (not counting the gear to play good, hotas and track ir)
Did they change the options for this in the 4.37.4 update? I can't find any of the F-15 specific bindings in the keymapping menu, all I get are the F-16 related ones like DMS, TMS, etc
I’m sorry I don’t know the answer- I haven’t looked into it yet and won’t for a while due to moving house! Check the forums tho.
@@Wheelman_PCAS Don't worry, I found the answer, apparently the keyfile I had was just incomplete. While I have the commands now, apparently they don't work as seamless as they do for the viper on my stick. Thanks for the reply though!
Congrats on the evil numbers
I find aim-7Es to be useless. Even when Jester gets a lock, you wait 4 seconds and -when you fire- the enemy is nose-on hot 3 miles away, it will miss if the enemy aircraft moves at all. It’s hard to practice your procedures and tactics when you can’t tell whether your missile fails to guide or hit b/c you made a mistake or because the missle failed. For that reason, I think people should learn how to use the aim-7 with the “M” model. The Aim-7m is a really good missile so if you follow procedures and launch in parameters inside 5 miles, you have a really good chance of a hit. So if it just flies off and doesn’t track, you know YOU did it wrong.
Do you know if the F is more accurate/ reliable? My practice has been for flying in eras when that's all there is.
@@Wheelman_PCAS Yes, the Aim-7F is an improvement over the E model but i don't find its by a whole lot. The Aim-7M variant that came out in 1982 is a VERY capable missile and performed excellently in the 1991 Gulf War. They are deadly in that 2-5 mile range. Doesn't mean it hits all the time but it is reliable enough that - if you are using the systems properly, you should have no problem taking out head-on approaching aircraft 5-6 miles out. If you are consistently having Aim-7M missiles fail to track/impact, then you are likely doing something wrong. I advocate using the variant that is realistic for the time period; BUT, when it comes to learning the system, use the variant that lets you know when you are doing it right. You have no idea if your Aim-7Es aren't ever hitting b/c of your error or the missile failing, Makes correcting errors tough
@@mikeck4609ah ok. Reminds me of the shrike in the A4 and also this plane. But hey at least the E can be fired in boresight without a lock to scare people before the merge.
Cheers for the vid mate
Cheers!
Boresight lock with aim7E sparrows is less desirable than a flood mode lockless launch since these missiles take 4 seconds after a lock to “warm up”. Strategies must take type of aim7 (E vs F at two seconds warmup)
Had not learned about lockless sparrows yet! This is awesome!
Yes hence why the backseater counted to 4

The gaminess, highly depends on the (public) server vs. a like minded group or squadron. The public and "popular" servers tend to attract a specific crowd.
Do you think hitting high valuable component of an enemy battalion could make the campaign engine frag a10 or attack helis to wipe the area?
I wonder, not sure! They would certainly have a better chance of surviving if there wasn’t any SHORAD left
@@Wheelman_PCASyes It makes sense of course. And also, in the worst scenario, it is better having our ground forces to deal with truck and support units than them. So, it could be a win-win anyway.
@@xagremnightyndale673 The campaign engine definitely detects, when a SAM radar has been disabled.Maybe it detects destroyed SHORAD (Sa-13, Shilka...) Either way, this would make A2G flights, together with CAP/Sweep, more likely. It does depend on the overall situation and how the AI has set priorities (if kept to "set by HQ"). The AI is somewhat smart about this and you should see regular CAS/BAI packages in "cleared" areas.
@@fonesrphunny7242 thanks! This is very interesting. I am always looking for ways to be effective for the campaign engine and stimulate its planning to push the action. Any suggestion is appreciated
The good thing about BMS is that is cheaper and does not need a NASA level PC.
I’d say BMS still is hungry for all the CPU hz and cache you can give it. But cpu upgrades are at least affordable.
@@Wheelman_PCAS It depends on the Motherboard and how upgradeable it is to see how cost effective would be. But yes, that's an option.
@@thejetfighter yes I just think about the 4090 and the wide gap in affordability between that and almost any other piece of hardware!
How do you distinguish bad lock so fast? Nice flying btw
I learned to check the stability of the ASE circle/ dot. It jitters all over the place when you’ve locked something spurious. If you have a good lock it seems to steady out pretty quickly. Also I think the In Range lamp lights up and goes dark randomly as you can kind of see here.
