@MattyBoJangles Having absolutely NO problem with these two Capoeiras wearing whatever they want, I do want to point out that the Uniform is an essential part of, perhaps not Capoeira in its essence, but the institution of a Capoeira group. Some groups manage without, but the uniform speaks to something in human psychology that so far is very difficult to do without for someone trying to run a successfull Capoeira group.

Reminds me of when CM Esquilo of CDO was teaching in Detroit for a month or so and we had a roda for his birthday. He just wanted it to be casual like that with no whites or uniforms or anything along those lines. I think there was a certain kind of vibe he was going for. Perhaps this is similar.

I don't believe capoeira started, or ends, with people wearing white helanca pants and logo shirts...that has only been the last 40 years. If anything, capoeira doesn't belong stuck in that sort of rigid world. That's just a try for recognition as a sport in a world that likes to classify things. Watch the movement, dialog & life of the game, not the clothing.
