Porteau Cove - Lumix S5iiX test with Sigma 28-70 F2.8 - C4K
I loved this test Which lens should I buy Panasonic 70-300 or Sigma 100-400
Thank you! That depends on you, I haven't tried the 70-300 but the nice thing about Panasonic lenses is they have weather sealing. So it depends on the range you want vs sacrificing weather sealing. Autofocus might be slightly better on the Panasonic too.
@ Video auto focus really matter for Wildlife and Zoo I’m still confused 🤔
If you want the best autofocus native glass is always the way to go. Therefore the Panasonic 70-300 would be the best in terms of autofocus.
Sigma has more reach, and sharper than Panasonic at 300. Panasonic has better dual image stabilization and quicker autofocus. Sigma for wildlife, Panasonic for sports and casual shots. I got the Panasonic.
@@sansinutube I picked Sigma 100-400 I just recently came back from Lake Tahoe tour and used Sigma 100-400 I loved it
It has tracking modo?
Unfortunately, this gimbal doesn't have a tracking mode like the dji RS3 Mini.
@ thanks
How do you colour grade? so nice! I am from BC as well!
Thank you! Currently I have been using dehancer which is great, but expensive. I think davinci resolve has a film look creator for an alternate option. One tip I have is to use a node for the glow effect and change the mode to softlight it just gives your footage a great look. That's great to hear such an amazing place! 😊
@@jackyulesmith ah okay I've been getting signs to get Davinci I use FCPX lol Thank you!
@@ChasingTrueFreedom There is always the the free version of it, so you can see if you like it before you buy too! Ultimately it's what ever works for you 😊
How’s the autofocus after the update?
I think it's actually really good, I haven't really lost focus. Plus it's nice to have animal eye detection and car subject detection.
@@jackyulesmith thank you sir, I was feeling a bit skeptical about the autofocus
Great shots mate
Cheers mate!
LOVE it
The Oregon coast is incredible! You did a great job capturing the true beauty there. I have this camera as well but can’t seem to get the look I want out of v log. Do you follow the expose to the right method with it or just properly expose? Your footage looks awesome!
Thanks for watching and I appreciate that! My general method of exposing is to expose above 15 ire using the waveform, to get clean shadows. So in essence that is 'exposing to the right.' I also recommend setting your zebras to around 89 ire so that you know when your about to clip but at least then you still have a little latitude in the highlights. Hope this helps, let me know if you have any more questions!
@@jackyulesmithhelps a ton thank you so much!
Nice. Just ordered this camera. Did you use ND filter on the sunny shots or adjust shutter speed/aperture?
Great purchase, I hope you enjoy the cameras as much as I do! I use a VND filter and leave it on my camera, I currently use the nisi swift filter system.
Nice video. You recoreded in All-i with wich bitrate? Internally or on ssd?
Cheers! This was mainly shot in 6k open gate internally, with the 60p shots in all intra again internally. 😊
Bro great video. Can you please tell me what did you set your white balance and iso to for the first shot and if this was shot in VLOG?
Cheers! It was shot in vlog and the iso would be 640, and the WB would be 3200k or the cloudy preset. Hope this helps!
@@jackyulesmith Thanks bro. I always get confused as to how to set WB in VLOG since the footage is grey and you dont really see the change in WB setting in screen.
Diablos que calidad parece la fx3 🤯
Lol at Chinese gear names :)
When you position it into briefcase mode/underslung position does the EVF hit the gimbal frame or not?
In the underslung mode with my s5IIX with a cage plus the Sigma 28-70 it doesn't hit the EVF, however I don't have a heavier 24-70, so I can't test to see if it would hit with a heavier lens.
Absolutely loved this.
Thank you I appreciate it!
Love it, my friend. Beautiful and so clean work!
Thank you!
I do like how you edited… You can take a simple shoot and then perfectly edited….so talent 🙇🏻🎉 Subscribed 😊
Well done, love the grade too.
Thank you!
Excellent footage
What configuration did you record in with the s5iix?
This was either 6k 4:2:0 long gop or 4k 60 long gop 4:2:0 both V-log. 😊
Definitively you got an eye to make colors!
Thank you!
So beautiful...Oh, those colors! 1:21 .Do you have this scene in another video?
Thank you I appreciate it! Similar but not exactly the same 😊
This camera paired with the right les is just fantastic!
It is an amazing camera! Especially with the sigma 28-70.
I shoot at night at ISO 4000 on a Panasonic s5iix and I have a very noisy picture, how can I fix this?
I usually find shooting at f2.8 or lower helps a lot, but that depends on what lens you have. If not I would try to expose closer to clipping the highlights.
that was fantastic 👏🏽 beautifully shot. I was wondering if you ever over expose in camera and then bring it down in post? (for V-Log) I found that it gives less noise in the footage. have you ever had that issue?
Thank you very much! That's a good question, I actually had trouble exposing V-log because my shadows were very noisy at the start. Now for V-log, I try to expose the shadows above 15 ire. To make sure my shadows are clean and then bring it down after (if needed). I also use the highlight zebras set to 88-95 Ire to make sure I have enough room so I don't clip. So as you said I noticed a lot less noise over exposing slightly.
Superb ❤, u r gonna be recognised one day..
I really appreciate that thank you! 😊
People don't have any idea the kind of work it takes to make this editing, luts and overall vision. Love it and good luck!
I really appreciate that, thank you! It does take a lot of work but I enjoy it and still trying to improve each video. Thanks for watching! 😊
cool
Beautiful footage😊
Thank you very much! 😊
looks nice. thanks a lot.
Are these hand held or you used a tripod and a gimbal. Some of the shots are very smooth.
Most of these are handheld, however shots: 0:11, 0:49, 0:57 are all shot with a gimbal. Thanks for watching 😊
Missing the crackheads, needles, stolen bikes, shitty drivers, and dumpster fires
I have ur same set up but I have no clue how to do what u do 😅… I’m trying to learn tho
Most of it comes down to going out and practicing with your camera + exposure triangle of course + composition. I myself still have a lot to learn. Thank you for watching 😊
I miss that place, one of the best cities for sure.
I love that ! Team Lumix too and never disappointed 📸💪 What do you think about your 100-400 ? Isn't that too much to film ?
They never do, S5iix is definitely an amazing camera! Good question, in terms of its quality it's very sharp and looks great and no complaints with the image. The only things I wish I could change (if I had to be nit picking) would be constant aperture and better weather sealing. The lens with ibis can be hand held relatively stable at 400mm. However now that the 70-200 has come out I would have bought that as it suits my needs better. Hope this helps thanks for watching. 😊
@@jackyulesmith Absolutely ! Thank you for your answer, it's very clear. Personally, I have a 35-100 (and a 12-35)... and I ask myself about what would be the better choice between a larger maximum aperture (1.7 for example) or a bigger zoom (200 or 400). For the moment I'm ok with my 2 lenses ! We will see ahah !
I think it always comes down to the use, will you use it at the end of the day (or just sit on a shelf) and does it fit your use case. Plus as it's quite a high aperture you have to be careful about low light situations (depending on your camera). I will say that 400mm compression can look amazing haha. In your case it does seem like you have a good range of focal lengths covered with lens with good apertures.
@@jackyulesmith Yes I agree ahah ! Thank you for your advises :) Best wishes
Don’t overlook the f4 70-200. It’s under 1kg and relatively compact and great for stills or video. I use that paired with the Sigma 28-70. Mostly the Sigma, but for those times when I need something over 100 and don’t wish to crop, it’s a gem.
Your skill makes the camera shine, beautiful work. The Sigma 28-70mm f2.8 is one of the most underrated lens, I so love that lens.
Thank you! Definitely, the size makes it super compact. Just wished it had full weather sealing. Thanks for watching 😊
@@jackyulesmith I agree. You're most welcome
See. This is great. This all looks so great. I haven’t cared much for anything I’ve seen from the GH7 so far but I’ve always been consistently impressed with what the S5IIX could do. You’re super talented too, of course😃. I am still saving for the finale though… that S1H2.
Thank you! The S1H2 will be very exciting, the rumours of the specs seem pretty amazing (if true). Definitely be jealous of people that have that camera when it comes out. Though for me at the moment the S5IIX has everything I need. Thanks again for watching! 😊
Welp. This ruled. I will attempt an Edmonton version! haha. That S5iix is so fun. Granted, any camera is fun.
Thank you! Do it! That's very true, so much fun. Just an expensive hobby haha.
These shots are so clean man! You’re killing it with the lumix.
Thank you! 😊
Love this damn camera
Very nice video! Does sigma 28-70 has noise while using Autofocus?
Thank you! very very slight noise if you put your ear up to the lens. Nothing you would notice normally shooting though.
Great colour! What settings did you use for painting - Lut?
This was done in Davinci Resolve and was a color space transform from vlog to cineon log. Then I used the Kodak 2383 d65 lut I believe. Hope this helps!
Beautiful shots man! Subbed!
Thank you! I appreciate it 😊
Nice video! A fellow Lumix Fan and a Vancouverite!
This camera would be perfect if it had a tilt screen.
Definitely would help! Maybe the higher end Lumix cameras when they get released will.
I dig it. Looking to buy this camera so just checking out videos thanks!
Thanks for watching. Definitely worth it with the new firmware and value!
Hiiii Jack, picture profile V-LOG?
Sure is 😊
This is STUNNING! And the grading is so good. Did you shot it using V-log?
Thank you! I really appreciate it. Yes all shot in v-log C4K all-I.
@@jackyulesmith Thank you! I've been watching all your other videos with the S5IIX and i'm very impressed and inspired. Keep up with the good work! 💪👏
That's awesome to hear! I appreciate you following along and being inspired by my S5IIX content. I'm still trying to improve, with each video. 😊
Fantastic!!!

Nice photos, would like to see some in landscape than everything in vertical.
really nice video! it helped me lots in understanding the nodes and how i should sort them! Only got one question, and that is what key do you press to only see what colors are beeing selected when finding your skin?
I hope it was helpful, and thank you! To see what's being selected with the qualifier or magic mask is: Shift + H
