There's basically two types of steering on a motorcycle: Direct Steering, when you're going slow in a parking lot, usually 5mph or under. And then there's Countersteering, which you use when doing higher speeds, usually 15mph and above. With Direct Steering, you simply turn your handlebars and point the front tire where you want to go. With Countersteering, you push forward on one grip or the other, causing the bike to fall into a lean in that direction and allow you to navigate the turn by leaning the motorcycle. If you think about it, when you would push on the right handle bar the wheel would be going the left side so you would think it would go left but you go right.

@@bradishler5967 omg. That actually makes sense. Ok. Now I finally understand what counter steering You're not physically doing anything different yourself. But at speed the physics of the bike change, and the same action creates an opposed movement. God bless you mate for taking the time to explain that to me. I had bits and pieces and it's all coming together now. Frkn finally. An image building in my mind. I feel a little safer.

@@yingyangorca4124 if you would just ride a motorcycle it'll just happen naturally. You'll get it pretty quickly unless you have absolutely no clue how to ride/drive.

@@InstructorCory my classmate sold his tricycle (honda tmx 125 with sidecar) today, I just realized that I was lucky to use it when it was brand new 😅

Today (8.3.2024) is my first time driving a car not a van, isuzu hilander slightly bigger than a honda crv. I never stalled on it since it is on straight line and remember release handbrake before going forward, returning to neutral when stopping.

@@Gerb3k great question! Whichever bike will be more FUN for you to ride and make you WANT to ride and practice more often. I've been riding a long time and have never dropped my bike

I would prefer the ninja 400, it looks better to me compared to the ninja 500 and lighter as some of the vloggers say.

I'd go for the 400, but why not test ride both and see what feels best... and then assume you WILL drop your bike. Chances are after a year or 2 you'll want to upgrade, so take that into account as well when spending your cash on a first bike.

It all comes down to physics and probability. As time passes, certain doors shut and possible outcomes become extremely improbable. The way you word it as dont outdrive your ability to react on the road is great. It would also be called "defensive driving." My car cant accelerate fast but it has new tires and can brake very well so I keep that in mind when merging and switching lanes.

@@chuy3840 sounds like you have the opposite problem then, you have to worry about threats from behind who have bald tires and steel-on-steel disc brakes lol

@@JimDaigneault basic speed law says never faster than safe for the conditions, but many bikers seem to think intersections are the perfect place to see how fast their bike can go
