@@shmoopiebear retail is 140 I believe, I paid around 100. The earthy vetiver is similar to encre noir but takes a completely different turn, opening is sparkly, spicy warm incense, green smoky patchouli with a touch of citrus, that gives it just a hint of sweetness/ dry down keeps the spice and smokiness, loses the sparkly opening and citrus fades, earthiness tones way up for the rest of its life, lingevity is 6-8 hours depending on climate . Very very versatile though great for cool weather or summer nights.

Projection is a sneaky bitch you will not notice it projecting but those around you will be choked out first hour or so if u spray heavy.

Dry down reminds me of being in the garden center of a Walmart, high end potting soil and department store scent vibes

Subbed as well brother. Im excited for the jpg elixir absolu but not the flowers. Not the biggest fan of the hawas line but I'll probably grab the fire and the elixir just for the content if nothing else. I only have the old school aqua di gio but I might cop that elixir too because I think the leather will be nice with the dna.

I agree there are other great interpretations, but for those that love Layton as it is, and what an affordable near exact replica of the og, detour noir fits the bill imo. But it is up to the person their budget and what they value at the end of the day!

@AFragrantStateOfMind Fragrantica's note listings aren't from the manufacturer. Pinaud's website lists citruses, vanilla and wood but does note oakmoss. It doesn't smell earthy or green at all to me but I could be wrong! I mostly get citrusus, lavender and vanilla. From what I've read, powdery smelling aftershaves are an American thing while the green scents are a Euro thing, but especially Italian.

@ I think the powder your associating with barbershops is talc which is commonly used, but for years scents such as clubman, old spice, brut, and most all other men’s aftershaves that date back to the seventies and eighties use green notes. You are not wrong that lavender and vanilla are also notes. But almost always backed up with a green note. Hence the term green, when referring to barbershop scents.

Here is notes associated with barbershops according to Google Barbershop scents often include notes of lavender, oak moss, patchouli, and other woodsy tones. Explanation Lavender: A strong top note that gives barbershop scents a sleepy quality Oak moss: A woodsy tone that's common in barbershop fragrances Patchouli: A woodsy tone that's common in barbershop fragrances Other notes that might be found in barbershop scents include: Vanilla, Citrus, Spice, Resinous notes, Turpentine-like notes, and Herbal notes.

@@Afragrantstateofmind I still don't get any green in it. If green means herbs, pine, rosemary, etc. then I definitely don't get that and it's not listed. But it does have oak/tree moss listed maybe that's construed as green? I really only notice citrus, vanilla and some type of vague florals/lavender. The vanilla, floral and lavender combo is probably making me think of powder but I've decanted it and brut and ladies at work always say I smell like baby powder. Females naturally have a better sense of smell so I always defer to them.
