Getting The Most Out Of Your Hiroyasu IC-980 Pro
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 17 ต.ค. 2007
I am a new ham radio operator. I will be sharing videos on what I am learning about the Hiroyasu IC-980 Pro and other radios and antennas that I own. I got my technician license in 2024 so I am pretty new at thsi stuff. The reason that I am making my own videos is because I don't like the ones that I watched while trying to learn how to use this radio, I am hoping to mitigate the learning curve on this radio by sharing what I've learned during my short time using it. I appreciate your comments and suggestions.
How To Clone Hiroyasu IC-980 Pro
How to copy frequencies and settings from one radio to another. This is helpful if you have multiple radios such as one in your shack and another in a vehicle or two. In this video I show you how to use the programming software to copy one radio to another. You can download the programming software for the Hiroyasu IC-980 Pro at hamradiolife.org/software1.htm.

Do you have a vender recommendation for Aliexpress?
I have ordered from and York International Radio Online Store and Global Walkie Talkie Store with no problems.
@N4GPA Thank you
Great video series! My radio will be here Monday. I ordered mine after listening to a 1am qso between a couple guys talking about it on SARNET. Can’t wait for the next vid. I feel like I already know my way around the radio!
@@earniejohnson8040 I look forward to hearing you on SARNet. What is your call sign?
@@N4GPA KN4APX. I can listen on both the Lakeland and Central Turnpike machines- with the Turnpike being a little stronger/better signal. Working on a station with an outside base antenna for that little extra reach. It’s a work in progress, for sure! Love what you are doing with your channel. Keep ‘em coming! 73!
What power supply and antenna Mark?
The antenna is from Amazon. I coulding find a brand name or model number, but here is the descriiption: "Car Antenna 38 inch Mobile Radios Antenna 144/430MHz with PL-259/SO-239/UHF Female Connector and White Antenna Mount 770R Station Antenna for Dual Band VHF/UHF Ham Mobile Radio Station Antenna" The power supply is a Aviva M470 Portable Power Station.
Correction: The Single Frequency Mode allows you to have only one VFO displayed and it simplifies the screen data display. - Thanks Pat!
I mistakenly set the repeater offset at 50.000 rather than 5.000. You need to use a leading "0" before the 5 to get the 5.000.
