Hiking on Falkland Islands

We undertook a hike to a battlefield on the Falkland Islands called Tumbledown Mountain. It was a cold barren place but an interesting peek at the Falkland War. nomadicjj.blogspot.com If you want to be notified about future uploads, subscribe to my channel and make sure to click the notification button.
Penguins Porpoising

King Penguins 'porpoising' on their way back to land. This method of travel is faster than swimming and presumably they can sight where they are headed. Birds of a feather, flock together. True for penguins as well. nomadicjj.blogspot.com If you want to be notified about future uploads, subscribe to my channel and make sure to click the notification button.

Albatross and Rockhopper Rookery 1
มุมมอง 1134 ปีที่แล้ว
After landing on West Point Island, part of the Falkland Island archipelago, we walked from the harbour up and over a small hill to a black-browed albatross and rockhopper penquin rookery. They made an interesting pairing. It was nesting time and the albatross were renewing bonds with the mates and the rockhoppers were building nests. The loud noises are the albatross. As Aristotle described his kebos as being like a pithekos (it was Greek for Barbary ape) but with a tail, which was probably the gelada, it's kind of odd that the Greek explorer Megasthenes coined the name kerkopithekos (it means a tailed higher primate), especially for the tufted gray langur. The reason I called the Barbary ape that and not Barbary macaque is because the word ape originally referred to that cercopithecid before it was used for the non-man hominoids while macaque through its Portuguese root macaco and Bantu root kaku originally referred to the gray-cheeked macaco. By cercopithecid, I mean an Old World "monkey." By macaco, I mean a "mangabey." Do you think so?
