For people that have played Super Metroid just a few times for fun, numerous times to see how fast they can do it, and legit speedrunners that can get within minutes of the WR... all of these people can see the movement of Samus that people like Oats, Zoast, Behemoth, Zeni, and many others have achieved and wonder at it. Anyone that has tried to control Samus in this game knows how difficult it is to make her look like she's not a little bit clumsy. This display of skill is off the charts. It was interesting seeing you take it in! Picking up an item will give the item fanfare, which is something like 6 2/3 seconds long. Avoiding the missile pack before the wave beam loses time for awkward movement but gains overall due to the 6.6 seconds you'd lose. As you saw at the end, he used the last super missile to get MB to phase 2 where charge shots are usable, so the people that have tested this out know just what is needed within a normal range of drop luck in Tourian. The game has come so far, but there are still tricks being found 30 years later! The Super Metroid Map Randomizer game allows them to be used in new ways, and there's a tiny possibility that there can be an improvement even to this any% speedrun or other categories from those new situations.

New to your channel and been watching Oats for years. I enjoyed your reactions as you were trying to piece together what was going on. You notice some of the nuanced tricks, but I liked that you did notice some things -particularly the charged up speed boost after killing Draygon. That thing he did where he shine sparks into Dragon gets the blue suit, and that gets upgraded to the spike suit -all to store another shine spark for the way out. That and the sudo screw where he does a spin jump after charging a shot gives him that glow to kill the crab after escaping wrecked ship.

Interesting that you sequence broke to get wave early. Usually you gotta kill Croc first and get grapple to cross that gap.

36:00 That's what I thought at first, but he's actually shooting a super missile to kill them, you just don't see it coz he's so fast.

32:17 That's what "that was for." When he was bumping against the electric things after killing Draygon he gets something called Blue Suit which lets him store a shine spark indefinitely until he chooses to use it.

10:57 Once you open a door that requires a certain weapon it becomes a normal door. That door on the other side was a powerbomb door so I laid that bomb so that later when he goes back through there he doesn't have to use a powerbomb and wait for the explosion.

5:27 He's playing on real SNES hardware, using a RetroTINK 5x to convert the component output to an HDMI output which can be captured or displayed on an HDTV. Note: You ***CANNOT*** play with the output from the RetroTINK 5x.. there's way too much lag.. Supposedly with the RetroTINK 4k you can play on HDMI with no lag but that costs $800 which is pretty expensive so.. Currently outside of that, the only way to really be able to do a lot of this stuff is to play on real hardware and on a CRT. He's using a pro-broadcast PRM display which is the best you can get.. I would recommend at least something with component inputs coz composite looks like 💩. I have the RetroTINK 5x, but I couldn't find a CRT with component inputs and the one I bought only has composite so I'm stuck until I get a new CRT.

you think some of these tricks are insane, you should watch the randomizer races

this speed run was insane! I don't know how its possible to even go that fast. If you wanted more speed runs to react to hades and breath of the wild are are realy interesting

With the quick Metroid kills in Tourian, he freezes them with Spazer + Ice Beam (AOE freeze), and destroys all of them with 1 Super Missile. Super Missiles have splash damage.
