DON ASKER
‘I commenced a science degree and after two years deferred to begin dance training. My early professional years were as dancer and choreographer creating and presenting dance and theatre in Australia, New Zealand, Holland, Germany, the UK, Israel, Denmark, Korea, China and North and South America.
The way bodies ‘speak’ and communicate intrigues me, leading to an appreciation of the complexity of our processes of ‘knowing’ and understanding.
Finding and exploring expressive and evocative forms in any modality and appropriate presentational situations to fit my context remains an interest.
My practice in recent years has a rural and natural context. One aspect involves ‘walking and talking’ and becoming more conversational and relational to my surrounding landscape and others. There is a degree of spontaneity crossing gestural activity and loose poetic verbalising or sounding that draws on my experiencing.
Exploring the poetics of the moving body and human’s place in the world are central themes’.

Great conversation, thanks for sharing your beautiful work Anne.
Close to dreaming…… couldn’t agree more Nick!
Wonderful
This is great - thank you!
Excellent Catherine, so engaging and informative
Dear Al. What a loveable legend he is. Really enjoyed hearing about the development of your ideas which have enriched so many performers' and others' lives. Thanks for the inspiration you've given to our community and to me personally. These interviews are wonderful chaps, keep up the good work!!!!!
Thanks Tony!!. How good it was to hear Al reflect on his life and teaching. We'll keep the interviews coming....
Hello Carolyn, Lots to appreciate and consider in your podcast - too much to mention in this little Comment box! Thank you.
I remember the first time I saw you perform, Lynne, during the “Year of Fridays” at Cubitt Street. I was awestruck, and frightened, by the power with which you were threw yourself at the brick wall. And completely drawn in by the focus with which you looked at your hands, and gazed at the space around you without apparently seeing us watching you. I have shivers up my spine as I remember this, and am so grateful for your practice and the gifts you have offered your audiences over the years.
This was a wonderful interview to be involved in. Lively, incisive and deeply engaging....
My heart's singing too Neil. Thanks to you and Kevin and especially to Caro for her generosity in sharing so lucidly, her experience and insights on such a life affirming practice. Impro - those who do it, love it.
Hi Caro, Got so much from your interview, eg. the longevity of an impro practice so it can explore ageing and be a lifelong, growing and changing endeavour. Also fascinated in your study of the methodology and research aspect of your practice and writing about this. Huzzah!
Thanks guys and thanks Peter for your generous sharing. Ashley is so good at getting us to understand how/what we do. And yes you have been a huge inspiration to many, but I'm grateful for the influence your work has had on my own research & teaching. Good point Kevin! When I recall some of your performances from over the years, I can recall the images like a well written book. Man climbing a statue to then be struck down by the enlivened sculpture and so on. As Lynne says so interesting. Thanks again!
This is a great interview, thanks everybody, really interesting to hear your story Caro
Hi Peter, So fascinated by your podcast. How you work with imagination, the 4 domains and their combinations, your strategies for disrupting habits, and more. Great stuff!

Great to hear your story Lynne! Thanks for that.
Hi this is a great Idea. Thanks! I look forward to listening to this Podcast.
Oh and lovely to see you Tony
So interesting Lynne. I'm quite fascinated by the influence of the Trance practice on your work..... AND stillness! the tool to discover the heart of a performance. Didn't really talk about it in my interview enough -- doing nothing but being present before the audience is so satisfying.
Fascinating, Tony. Especially appreciated you mentioning the importance of ‘not doing’ before a performance, not planning anything beforehand. Also, your comments around ‘waiting’ in a performance for a ‘true’ impulse to arise.
I love this!
Wonderful all you fellows! But Tony, the articulouso! x
Big thank you to Tony Osborne for the generous sharing of his history in improvisation. A wonderful start to the podcast.
