Igatpuri is a town and hill station in the Western Ghat mountains of Maharashtra, western India.
Southeast, trails lead up to Kalsubai Peak. The surrounding Kalsubai Harishchandragad Wildlife Sanctuary is home to leopards and deer.
The history of Igatpuri places, called Egutpoora in the olden days, dates to thousands of years. The area falls in the district of Nashik. The name Nashik owes itself to Nashika, the Sanskrit word for nose. Places in Igatpuri were well-covered during the rule of the Satavahanas, as is evident from the ruins from those times. In the 17th century, the Mughals had also taken over the area.
