    Wait, you have the video of all this but did not show the video. that makes no sense. I don't get it. if that is what happened the cam was on her so where is the video. I think it's possible you saw a bear and got a video of her standing up end of the story. Not calling bullsh*t but possible bullsh*t. That is not a bear attack by the way it was a sighting with a bluff charge.

    Spotting a pattern..... Notwithstanding, these accounts give an insight about getting out of ones' depth. Having someone that knows their stuff to hold your hand would be a good investment. If the footage is of the trip, there's some technical stuff there requiring sound ability & knowledge before getting in trouble. And since the pest population has exploded there are some not very competent "professional guides" able to get trophies (there's so many animals it's hard to avoid them), so choosing who to accompany makes a difference. Solo hunting is dangerous, not usually a problem if risks are avoided and you know what you are doing. NZ bush & mountains get their share of darwin clubbers. The information about the emergency locater beacon issue is really useful. How to locate satellites (the issues) and the other events provide an appreciation what happens when whoops has happened. The description of messaging someone as a backup particularly. It was always gospel to have someone informed of intentions pre trip, and intentions books in huts were primarily for daily intentions (not hunting stories). Something some avoid, to avoid paying their share of the upkeep via hut fees (that anal type stole the quality utensils etc that NZ huts were once furnished with decades ago, so the next occupants would be deprived).

    I've not been charged (other than a couple close range black bear bluff charges near my shed when I was breaking down a deer), but I do this all the time, go out and hunt alone. I'm just a (nearly) 50yo BC guy trying to bow hunt some meat. With work, kids, life, it's hard to find people to hunt with, so you go alone. You sleep out there. You walk around, it's dark. It's scary. You can't see around the corner. You sneak up on a bear and you think you've got it and suddenly it's gone and your skin crawls.You shoot an ungulate and you have to spend a bunch of time gutting it, breaking it down, dragging or packing it out, with the smell of offal all around you. There are loads of us. As Adam says, this was normal.

      Thought he had a 1911? .45 acp ?? Either way, any gun is better than none.. Rather have a 9mm than an arrow, despite it likely not working out, what do you think the odds of stabbing it in the very few spots that matter, have it hit heart or brain and dying immediately? Even shot in heart or lungs or brain, let alone getting into skull.. They'll be alive and VERY pissed while mauling you. Just watch the sun bear video eating a guys face off while a coo keeps shooting it with a rifle.. Every shot, it just rips off face meat WAY more aggressively.. Scary. Rather have a loud bang machine than hand to hand combat with knife or arrow. (My bathroom book is grizzly attacks in Alaska.. You wouldn't imagine the insane scenarios that have gone down.

      If a bear is charging you, you don't keep a hand occupied with your phone. It's both hands on your pistol. Handgun cartridges are punitive compared to a rifle's. It would've taken a mag dump on that sow if he had any chance of survival and the only way to maintain the proper control to do so in so little time means both hands on the gun.

      @@Mrclean431 The vast majority of bear attacks end up with 6 shots or fewer. Most encounters are 0-3 shots because the bear will be on you quick. Sometimes people don't even have a chance to shoot once. That being said it is nice to have more capacity in case, and it has been needed before. Revolver has the advantage when the bear is on you, you can press the gun against the bear or shoot limp wristed and it won't jam. Auto will

    Adam.... this comment doesn't deal directly with this video... so if you want to remove/block it.. fine... go ahead. I am simply commenting here because in another video (one in which you disabled comments) you were commenting on how an inreach mini sos failed to properly dispatch rescue. The preface being that somehow the mini failed. In that video, however, you openly reveal that apparently there was human error in the dispatch center that failed to initiate a rescue response text and actual rescue. Your video title/intro was desperately misleading in that the mini actually functioned as designed but the service providing the sos response (a human) was at fault. Don't go there. When you head out into the middle of nowhere and obligate others to watch over your little butt.. all the responsibility lies on your shoulders.... NO PLACE ELSE. In fact... I would go even further... if you are going to use such a service, you should be required to carry rescue insurance or prove that you can pay for the rescue out of your own pocket... even if the price tag reaches hundreds of thousands of dollars. Why is it that people don't take personal responsibility for their own actions and then try to blame to actions or inactions of others for their own failures?? I would suggest you take that video down. Every aspect of your adventures is your responsibility. Don't pawn it off on someone else's failure. Whining doesn't look good on you.

    • @dirkhagoort4949

      I’m sorry. But you pay for the subscription to have the ability to contact an emergency service. By your definition should we not send an ambulance somewhere unless they already know they can pay for the bill? It was complete and utter Bullshit that a person got an SOS call and did jack shit with the information. Why even have the inreach in the first place if it’s on you to get yourself out. He literally pays for the service to do exactly what you are critiquing. Your comment is very dumb

    • @wintercoder6687
      @wintercoder6687 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@dirkhagoort4949 Ok.... let me dumb it down even further for you then. The unit functioned as designed. The service failed due to human error. Blame the service, not the unit. To that end, sue the service for its failure, not the device manufacturer (unless of course they are one-in-the-same.)
