i see some of our Ex-RAAF Classic F/A-18A hornets

BC resident. I've been watching that TV show about North Shore Rescue, and they only recently got the ability to do night missions and winch someone to a helicopter. (A smaller civilian helicopter - these big military ones are are unmistakable on the rare occasion they are seen flying around over here.) Obviously the military SAR-techs are the top tier of this sort of mission, but BC is such a tough area for search & rescue generally with the mountains and sea, there are many overlapping SAR agencies. Makes me wonder if the RCAF gets called out as a last resort, for the hardest missions. Anyways, kudos to all the SAR people, military or civilian, for doing a very hard job.

The TBM Avenger was manufactured by General Motors. The TBF Avenger was manufactured by Grumman. It's the same plane, but with 2 designation to denote the manufacturer. Saying "Grumman TBM Avenger" is wrong.

What opportunities there are for todays youth. From the 148's to CC-295, the Polaris and Challenger fleets and CF-35's in the works, the RCAF will offer a very rewarding career. There are many great jobs outside of Air Canada, folks. Go get one.

The Hercules used to be my favourite plane in the RCAF, but after flying in the C17, the Globemaster now takes the crown (although the C130's are still awesome). Does anyone else feel the same?!
