    About the AMD vs Intel: I wondered whether AMD laptops in general offer native Thunderbolt 4 support? I thought they do not, that's why I usually choose Intel CPU in my laptops. Am I correct in this?

    A person doing such a "one-handed review" just doesn't respect himself and his viewers. That's all. Do not have some proper gear? Don't do "reviews".

    Fortunately I haven't had any issues with the gen 2 version i have with the ryzen 7 pro. The aluminum chassis is a nice touch. Still get compliments & people asking questions on what laptop i use whenever i take it out.

    I am a user of x13 gen3 amd. Overall, what I like about ThinkPad is that although it doesn't have any advantages in terms of screen, cost-effectiveness, weight, performance and other aspects, it is really durable. Moreover, its keyboard is the best among all the laptops I have used. However, I want to mention that the keyboard on AMD processor laptops is very poor. I just bought and replaced it with an Intel version of the keyboard myself. Their difference is not only backlighting.

    • @tamasveingartner4976
      @tamasveingartner4976 ปีที่แล้ว

      what is he difference? Shouldn't be any, theoritically.

    • @cyberwang5392

      @@tamasveingartner4976 Besides the keyboard, for example, my current x13 gen3 laptop with an AMD core processor does not come with pre-installed 4G/5G antennas or a SIM card slot. This means that it is difficult for users to upgrade and use 4G communication without damaging the shell. Additionally, my laptop has a noticeable electric current sound when running at low loads ( <5W). When I sent it to the repair shop for maintenance, the technician told me that it's best not to buy laptops with AMD chips because he found that this type of laptop has a relatively higher probability of problems.Similarly, one of my friends who uses x13gen1amd has encountered the problem of frequent WiFi disconnection. She has had her laptop repaired by Lenovo's after-sales service many times but the issue still persists even after 2 years.🙂

      @@cyberwang5392 Lenovo use several different manufacturers for keyboards across their range. They feel very slightly different to each other despite in theory being the same. However, as far as we know Lenovo don't make a different keyboard for AMD laptops. It is just luck which manufacturer you get with any Thinkpad. However there is a difference in feel between backlit and non-backlit keyboards. The non-backlit generally feels a little better and the key surface feels slightly different (more texture). As for avoiding AMD CPU's, the opposite is actually true and I think your local repair shop is slightly out of date. Generally speaking the AMD CPU's are preferred now over Intel. This was not always the case. But for the last two generations (4750u, 6850u, etc) the AMD chips have have more cores and run far more efficiently resulting in better battery life and cooler running (so the fan is quieter). The Intel equivalent chips for Intel Gen 10 onwards seem to be a hot inefficient mess in comparison. Yes drivers are probably slightly better on the Intel side (possibly what your repairer may have been referring to). But they run hot due to using more power, resulting in poorer battery life and louder fans. Intel is still preferable when single core speed is important (making them feel a little 'snappier'), or when Thunderbolt is a must. But modern AMD is preferable when wanting more cores, better battery life, cooler and quieter operation and a much faster integrated GPU. I currently have an Intel based Thinkpad but will be going for AMD on my next one if it is an option on the machine I want. If you ask on the Thjnkpad subreddit r/thinkpad then you will get similar viewpoints. Your repairer probably does see a higher number of issues across all laptops which have AMD CPU's. This is because traditionally AMD has been the budget option. So a laptop with AMD has other cheaper components simply because that laptop was targeted at a lower price point. In the case of Thinkpads this isn't the case. Apart from the X1 series (see below) AMD and Intel CPU's are equal peers. The other components should be just as high quality. Interestingly in my region (the UK) used AMD Thinkpads sell for a higher price than used Intel laptops despite their new price being the other way round. Part of the reason people assume the Intel CPU's are better is marketing. For example Lenovo's top of the range X1 series only come with Intel. I don't know for certain but I suspect this is a marketing demand from Intel for supplying their processors. To get around this Lenovo started the Z range of Thinkpads. They are just as good as the X1's but different enough that Lenovo avoid compromising the Intel only X1 lineup. the 4G/5G/SIM and antennas are optional across the range so whether your machine has them is down to whether you specified it at purchase. Both AMD and Intel offer this option.

Thank you Lenovo for such a great line of laptops !!! Will never buy anything else. Great for a Computer Science students having to run IDEs (Android Studio specially) and software daily.*

      I've just purchased mine and I am still wondering is it really that good in 2020? I mostly bought it because I am a student and I really need it,but I have seen bad comments about things like the screen and about its ram (i think it was the ram - because of whatever it was this laptop can only open 7 to 8 pages at one time and if I open more than 7 (or 8) it will start slowing down or even freezing)... So I was wondering if this was true and is it really worth it in 2020... (I've bought it second hand - from a firm - with 180gb SSD and a little more extras for about 460 leva,which is around 230 euro)

    *I consider myself quite hard on laptops and I think for any student this Lenovo💬>**JustU.Faith/ThinkpadT?牡** or a similar one, has everything you need. It has strong/reliable components and no cheap components that mark-up the cost. The quality of the build of Lenovos by far surpasses HP, Dell, or Acer. You don't need a fancy Macbook or Surface Pro to get coursework done. Most Lenovos are corporate line quality laptops, that the manufacturer expects to be used in a business setting (meaning all day) and to take considerable wear. Save yourself a thousand dollars and buy this laptop if you're a student.*
