I wouldn't walk on that road but there are small mini busses that run up and down that road all day hold your hand out and they can take you for less than 1 usd

who with and how did you rent your car?
I went to avis in playa del carmen . The one down the strip alittle ways . They are actually negotiable. I tried Travelocity bit found out the internet insurance is 3rd party so if the rental car says scratch then you have to pay what they say . Then months latter the insurance may pay you back or may not. I canceled that deal when I found out. Looks like it good way to get trapped in mexico with nothing you can do but pay

Our tour guide (local guy) told us that the restaurant that was closed is on a really high water spot and gets hit regularly. It can’t be repaired.

Could you recommend a cheap place to live in Phuket and good Fried rice with Shrimp?
Actually rawai is the place to live. It is full of expats. I met people from all over the world there and many cheap apartments and condos. Havnt found the shrimp rice yet.
That's typical "kanom jak" made from sticky rice, coconut or banana slices, coconut cream, and a little bit salt and sugar.
