Nunc Sancte Nobis
"Nunc sancte nobis" is a hymn traditionally attributed to St. Ambrose of Milan (c. 340-397), one of the most important figures in early Western Christianity. As a bishop, theologian, and hymn writer, St. Ambrose significantly influenced the development of Latin hymnody. It invokes the Holy Spirit ("Nunc sancte nobis Spiritus") and emphasizes His presence. The hymn reflects on divine guidance and enlightenment, asking for purification and renewal.
Latin Text:
Nunc, sancte, nobis Spiritus,
Unum Patri cum Filio,
Dignare promptus ingeri
Nostro refusus pectori.
Os, lingua, mens, sensus, vigor
Confessionem personent;
Flammescat igne caritas,
Accéndat ardor proximos.
Præsta, Pater piissime,
Patríque compar Unice,
Cum Spiritu Paraclito
Regnans per omne sæculum.
English Translation:
Now, Holy Spirit, come to us,
One with the Father and the Son,
Deign to enter into us,
Poured out into our hearts.
May our mouth, tongue, mind, senses, and strength
Sound forth the confession of faith;
May charity burn with fire,
And zeal enkindle our neighbors.
Grant this, most merciful Father,
And You, the Only-begotten, equal to the Father,
With the Spirit, the Comforter,
Reigning through all ages.

I agree! Partial indulgence granted when the Te Deum is recited (or sung) as an act of personal devotion or thanksgiving (along with other requirements for indulgences).
@@aimfortoday I am learning Latin, and I thought listening to Latin songs would help, and this is probably a good song to learn from. I like the ecclesiastical style of the hymn. Latin is a very beautiful language. Especially for hymns praising God and exclaiming his glory.
