I've been tossing over a H or XH reel for mostly jigging and some stickbaits. Which would you recommend? I'm considering a saltiga for myself and the Certate Sw for my son, both in the 6000.
@@ashleyedmonds9909 If you’re planning on doing both Jigging and stickbaiting, I’d go with the H reel. The XH reel is more suited to stickbaiting as it can make it easier to work stickbaits for longer periods without getting tired. The H reel makes it easier to work different pitch jerks actions when jigging. Both the Saltiga and the Certate SW are great reels!
@@HaiFishing thx so much. I've seen many ppl on youtube use xh when jigging, so I've been worried to splurge on the wrong reel type. The daiwa website state h is more designed for jigging. Very confusing. You should maybe do a video on the main differences.
@@ashleyedmonds9909 I’ll probably make a tackle talk video later this year. I’ll make sure to go through the reel types for sure! 🤙🏽
If I had a 6000 saragosa for jigging and stickbaiting, what size line should I get? 40lb braid with 60lb leader?
@@GulpAction PE3 50lb main braid line and 80lb Nylon Shock leader if both jigging and stickbaiting. But if only jigging, 60-80lb Flurocarbon leader is enough
@HaiFishing is 50 or 60 lb leader fine.
@ Only if you’re using Flurocarbon as it’s more abrasion resistant than Nylon Shock leader. You’ll need to use higher, 80lb minimum Nylons Shock leader to have a similar abrasion resistance to 50lb Flurocarbon
Thanks mate!
one more thing what do you find thats better for shore jigging split ring attached to swivel, split ring that's attached to solid ring or crimped attached to split ring?
@@Ryder-j6w Both work well, but I generally only use split ring attached to solid ring for PE3 and under setups. For any setups that are PE4, 6, 8, and 10, I use anywhere between 80lb to 220lb Nylon Shock leader, where the leader line is quite thick so it’s better to have crimped attached to split ring. The crimped attached to split ring connection is about 16-30% stronger than tying knots to connect to your lure or knot to solid ring with split ring. Also for anything PE6, 8, and 10 I only use stickbaits, poppers, or casting metals. They are too heavy to jig with all day as you will get very tired very quickly. I save Jigging for anything under PE6, though I do occasionally shore jig with PE6 but not for long and only at the end of a session, as it’s very taxing/ fatiguing on the body. I’ll go into more detail in a tackle talk or ‘how to video’ later on. Hope you stay tuned 🤙🏽
thanks and i sure will stay tuned for the tackle talk Hai.
sorry for asking all these question ive only been rock fishing for tuna and kingfish for one and a half years
what size hook were you using?

Hai, great camera work you made us all feel as if we were right there with you mate. Well done my man. Well bloody done
@@WeeToo-j4l Thanks mate! Appreciate you watching and glad you enjoyed the video! More to come for sure! 🤙🏽
What rod is that?
why are you using 150lb leader instead of 80 or 90 lb leader?
@@Ryder-j6w Nylon has great stretch and bounce for shock absorption, but it is much more softer than Fluorocarbon. Fluorocarbon is stiffer and has no shock absorption capability but is much more abrasive resistant than Nylon. Nylon also floats whereas Flurocarbon sinks. Because of how soft Nylon is you will need to used thicker size of Nylon to have a similar abrasion resistance as Flurocarbon, i.e. 150lb Nylon is roughly similar to 60-80lb Flurocarbon in terms of abrasion resistance. Because of how abrasive resistant Flurocarbon is and its sinking characteristics, it’s best to use fluorocarbon for jigs or sinking lures. But because of how Nylon has the floating characteristics it’s better to use it for floating stickbaits and poppers or other floating lures. Nylon’s shock absorption, stretch and bounce back characteristics also make working topwater lures easy and is less likely to affect the topwater lure’s natural swim pattern when working the topwater lure. Hope that makes sense. I’ll go into further detail on the topic in a future tackle talk or how to video. Hope you stay tuned 🤙🏽

@@JDL1115 Definitely, but I wanted to get a picture here with the lure still in its mouth. I just shouldn’t have let go of its head. Too much adrenaline and excitement, I forgot to keep a hold of its head haha
@ you could change from treble hooks into single hook for your lures. I’m using the BKK Lone Diablo single hooks on all of my fishing lures. It’s much easy to release and safer to handle.
I do use singles on some of my stickbaits but I prefer to use trebles on my poppers as fish often swipe at poppers and it’s easier to stick the hooks onto them with trebles. It’s definitely safer with singles though!
Epic!

So unlucky bro to get given a taste of a fisherman’s medicine….. hey…. the old barbed treble! Nice size Kingy but skinny. Hope you have healed up bro and learnt some lessons. Effect pays off and nice vedio, Just a little tip, I reckon adjusting the drag to the suit the species that you are targeting before you fish once it’s done don’t touch the drag, only tighten the drag when you feel like you being spooled real bad. I found most fisheros that keep playing with the drag(when still has plenty of line) when fish on tend to lose fish easier. Btw awesome vedio
@@maniyhy9451 Thanks bro! Honestly there was no way I was stopping that first fish with the PE3 setup I was using. That was a +120cm Kingfish, and Kingfish are notoriously dirty fighters. The ledge has a lot of structure on the bottom too for them to bust you off. I needed a PE6-8 setup with heavier gear and drag for that situation. Unfortunately I was just there at the right time but with the wrong gear. I was only targeting Bonito that day haha

Hey there,.. I used to go with lightweight gear until I got spooled & schooled by big fish....now,. I use either 30lb or 60lb braid... in the surf ...no more being undergunned.....sure,.. it was fun to hook big fish on light gear,... but if you're a catch-and-release guy like I am ..... you want the fish to be revivable for a successful release... playing a fish for extended periods can't be a good thing ...🤔 Just sayin.....👍😎🤙

Crazy bro, really bring knife to the gun fight! well fought brother in that swell!
Thanks bro! Was so sketchy that day haha
Spewing man I missed out on the low swell days... now there doesn't look like it'll be fishabke for a couple of weeks. Btw is this how you usually catch bait... by using small lures? If so what's your preferred type. Thanks
You can try to escape the swell by driving heaps far up north or down south. Some spots will allow you to fish safely in high swells if you know the spot well and can pick a spot that’s sheltered from the waves. I use the Palms The Dax 3g and 5g jigs to catch bait. Best to burley up well and cast the jig in the burley cloud and jig it in the cloud for best results 🤙🏽
@HaiFishing only spot I know down south protected from swell is bass point. I'd love to drive up north but don't really know a spot protected from the swells. I think maybe there's a spot up north around wybung, I havnt been there yet so idk how it is during swells. Yeah this 5 gram jigs... I bought some from Ali express and they were slaying slimies on the light set up, you reckon yakkas would hit the smaller ones? If I keep getting more success using em I might upgrade. @@DrJimCSMS It depends on the reel, rod and main lone setup I’m using, but generally, 60g jigs with 40-60lb fluorocarbon leader and 30g jigs and lighter jigs with 10-30lb Fluorocarbon leader
