Solar Flat Fielding Tutorial
มุมมอง 15K4 ปีที่แล้ว
Learn how to apply a flat field correction to images taken through a solar telescope. We cover the three major techniques, and demonstrate using popular software. This is intended only for owners of safe solar telescopes and solar filters. Flat fielding does not provide any protection from the Sun's potentially harmful light and should only be performed in combination with a safe solar filter.

CameraQuark
มุมมอง 7K7 ปีที่แล้ว
New for 2017, the Daystar Filters Camera Quark can be easily mounted on a Nikon style or Canon style telephoto lens. Now photographers can view in Hydrogen Alpha using their existing camera equipment.
Why a version hasn't been made for Sony E-mount is beyond me. There's a huge market for a Sony version.
1:07 He states, "follows the sun many hours" - be that said - it's is safe because from what I read so far using the EP is good for apertures up to 80mm not needing ERF. Garnett - do notice there's no Energy Rejection Filter mounted off-axis front of the camera lens.
That is a 60mm lens max. No erf needed
I enjoy your videos, thanks for making them. I hope that I can meet Daystar at NEAF 2022. The Gemini unit looks great, by the way.
Does it need a solar filter in front of the lens or just the quark?
Besutiful girl.
This video is great, we need more on the other Quarks!
Does your camera need to be astro-modified? If it is astro-modified is that an advantage? There seems to be no reduction filter at the front of the lens - so I guess this arrangement still protects the lens from over-heating? Is it designed just for camera (Canon/Nikon) users to use with regular lenses (and not for telescopes)?
The camera needn't be astro-modified. However, Nikonn cameras and Canon cameras with the IR filter improved / removed will have higher sensitivity and somewhat better contrast. This can be used on a regular telescope with the purchase of the Quark snout pack. All Quarks are designed with interchangable components for mounting in different configurations. @@daystarfilters1141 Very concise answer Fred. Thanks for that. I did have a look at your website which is very neat. I live in Scotland, so tend to try & buy local, but I wanted to look at your products too. Nice video by the way. Great shooting it out in daylight when you have the right weather for it. Good timely editing and audio is easily understood - even though you had a bit of road (& camera mount) noise. Shame youtube doesn't default to VP2 instead of its crummy avc, but it still does the job. I try to force mine to VP2 but it never works. Thanks for the reply Fred.
